Malibu Wedding by Just Chic Events

There’s no better way to start off your Monday morning than with a little cyber trip to sunny Malibu. This effortlessly chic wedding, captured by Hazelnut Photography, has me wishing I got married in California. I’m totally loving all the pretty, little details: the linen-less dining tables, the a-maz-ing flowers, the gorgeous beverage bar (YUM!), the DIY fabric menus . . . I could go on and on, but I’ll let you decide for yourself just exactly what part of this sweet creation by Just Chic Events is your favorite! Head on over to the gallery for all the beauty you can handle.

Our wedding was exactly how I envisioned it would be…a true representation of us.  Easy, relaxed and no fuss.  From the first day we were engaged, Jason and I spoke about creating a comfortable and casual environment for our friends and family to enjoy.  We hoped to create a chic yet casual event, with DIY projects and handmade details by my favorite Etsy vendors.  No project proved to be too big (or too time consuming) for us to tackle. In addition to the amount of joy and happiness felt throughout the day, we knew that the details would be what our guests would remember.  I wanted so desperately to use antique place settings instead of rented dinnerware, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t find it in the budget.  In an effort to find a colorful alternative, I found a DIY fabric menu tutorial online and decided that would be a perfect compliment to our linenless tables. Countless fabric stores and iron on transfer sheets later, we had our DIY fabric menus.  Each table had its own vintage pattern and all menus were affixed to napkins with a simple ribbon. Taking some direction from a former Style Me Pretty featured wedding, we used a vintage window frame found at a local flea market to display our seating arrangements. My mother built a flower box surrounding the window and our florist added the gorgeous flowers. Our guests knew which table was theirs based on the coordinating fabric pattern that we used for each table’s menus.  This was an unexpected element that our guests raved about! Undoubtedly, my favorite detail of our wedding was the table arrangements that were created for each table.  I achieved this look by searching through countless flea markets, antique shops and thrift stores as well as rummaging through my parent’s house and borrowing from my mother’s collection. No two tables were the same, which made for a beautiful and interesting tablescape on every table.  I still feel really lucky.  With seemingly hundreds of projects to accomplish, I was not left to do any of them alone. Not one. Jason was not the kind of fiancé who kicks and screams when asked to attend wedding related appointments or asked to tie ribbons around 75 napkins.  He was always there to lend a supportive hand, even when the days were long and the projects seemed endless.  Often times, he was the reason why things came together. The most amazing part of the day was NOT that the pew lanterns were completed on time or we were able to find a banner for our dessert table. The MOST amazing part of the day was that I was marrying my best friend, and that we had created this day together. 100% together.  I am forever grateful for the time that we spent during those 14 months in which we created lasting memories and details that will be remembered by all who attended.
