I like to think of Savannah as being beautifully timeless. Maybe it’s the Spanish moss clinging to the old oak trees, or perhaps it’s the slower pace of living. It could be the copious amounts of delicious sweet tea available. Whatever it is, Savannah’s vintage charm was the perfect backdrop for this gorgeous wedding from Tricia Huddas & Co Events. The bride and groom drove off into the sunset in a classic 1956 Corvette, and we’re so glad Tim Will was there to snap the shot. We’ve got such a treat from the fabulous Jose Ortiz, who was there to capture every breathtaking moment ~ a very pretty highlight film that is sure to make you smile! Jose’s blog has so many more amazing highlight films, if you, like I, need more!
From Jose … Jenna and Brian have a special and unique story. Since they were children, they loved all things from the “olden days.” From the Old South to 1930’s jazz to Maria Antoinette, they loved it all. This played into their wedding beautifully. It was classic and formal but still warm and laid back. They are both from Florida but had fallen in love with the old charm of Savannah, GA on their first visit to the beautiful, historic city. Their wedding took place in some of the most stunning parts of the city and they had all the details necessary to bring their personalities to their wedding, including a 1956 Classic Corvette!
Now for the beautiful highlight film from this timeless wedding!

From the stunning bride … I like to describe our wedding as inspired by quite an eclectic combination of things we love. But what they all had in common was the fact that they were vintage in some form. Since I was a child I have loved all things vintage. Our wedding was personal with a little vintage charm – just like they like it in Savannah. I knew I didn’t want was a cookie cutter hotel wedding. We wanted our venues to be places that spoke to our hearts and our creative sides (my second biggest advice for brides after making sure to get a photographer/videographer that is an artist, not just a professional with a nice camera). I also wanted to stay true to the beauty and vibrancy of the city that we fell in love with on one of our first weekend getaways together. I wanted to make sure that the venues we chose allowed our guests to take a step back to a slower more simpler time.
Our ceremony at the Whitefield Chapel, built in the 1700’s, was dreamy. The entrance to the grounds is lined with tall oaks draped in Spanish moss. The chapel is small and simple, made of brick with brick floors and old wooden pews, huge plate glass windows and a lovely stained glass at the front, but it is stunningly beautiful in its modesty. We were married in the late afternoon and the sun shining through the windows gave it such a warm ethereal feel.
Our reception was held in the Habersham Ballroom of The Olde Pink House. The walls are covered in mirrors, gilded candle sconces and beautiful murals of the low country. It is such a stunning atmosphere, just the perfect candle lighting at night. Instead of numbering the tables we named them after different squares in the city. One of the best parts of the night was our dinner singer, Trae Gurley, our very own “old blue eyes.” He is featured singing in the first half of the video. Numerous people thought there was a cd playing of old jazz songs until they saw him standing by the door belting out some great classics.
One of my favorite parts of the day was the 1956 Corvette we borrowed from a local man that was a member of the Savannah Corvette Club. The car was supposed to be a surprise for my dad (an avid Corvette lover his whole life) but he passed away a couple months before the wedding. Needless to say, our first ride in that car after the ceremony was very special for me and I really felt my dad there with me, laughing and “flying” his hands through the air. Another of my favorite parts of the day was the rose petal toss after the ceremony (this is the last scene in the video). The petals that were handed out to guests to toss were a combination of fresh roses and dried rose petals that my mom has saved over the years of the many bouquets of roses my dad got her. VERY special and a great idea for anyone that has just gotten married and can start saving for their own kids.
I have to say that Jose Ortiz was such a joy to work with. He obviously creates incredibly beautiful and artistic wedding videos. Nothing about any of them are cookie cutter. He has a way of honing in on the “feel” of your day and portraying that in your film. The quirky fun side of our wedding was definitely shown in the first half (we are not serious people by any means), with Trae singing “I’ve Got the World on a String.” Followed by the second half of the video, which evoked the momentous nature of the event, because really, that is what this is all about, our love for each other and the commitment we’ve made.
