From the stunning bride... Gabe and I met on a blind date. After dating for a while, he planned a fun-filled weekend to San Francisco (hence our cake). We had an early flight out of Denver and would not be able to meet up with friends until later Friday night, so Gabe arranged for car service to drive us around the city. Our first stop was the Cliff House for a delicious breakfast. After that, we walked around in Lincoln Park, stopping for photo opportunities, and finally arriving at a place where the Golden Gate Bridge was in full view. Gabe set our camera to record (I thought we were just taking a picture!), joined me on one knee, and opened a red box with a diamond ring! The ring almost slipped out into the ocean, but after that scare, everything was as perfect as I could imagine!
For our wedding, we wanted a true Colorado feel so we went with a Rocky Mountain blue, apple green, and ivory pallet. We choose lots flowers in this pallet for details throughout the ceremony and reception. We accented with birch logs, moss, and gray-green river rocks to keep the Colorado vibe going. Our favorite details were the stunning Rocky Mountain setting at Della Terra Chateau in Estes Park and the late night snacks of mini buffalo sliders, Mediterranean hummus with garden fresh crudités, mini fried egg sandwiches and a candy bar (stocked with M&Ms and Jelly Bellies).
Gabe and I wanted the traditional cake cutting but we wanted to have a variety of desserts so we had a “fake” cake. Only one small section was real cake. The cake resembled the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco as a symbol of our engagement. It was carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Our dessert bar included mini cupcakes (I love cupcakes), mini rum cakes (a reminder of our travels to Grand Cayman), mini Boston Cream Pies (from Gabe’s home of Massachusetts) and a variety of petit fours.
My dress was a dramatic couture silk taffeta dress from Australian designer Martina Liana from Anna Be Bridal Boutique. It was a mermaid, sheath floor length gown with an attached chapel length train. The color was champagne and it was embellished with ruching and genuine Swarovski crystals and pearls. If you can believe it, our wedding was more perfect than we could’ve imagined. It was like living in a slightly altered world where every color was brighter, every memory richer and we were the best versions of ourselves possible. Every one that we love in the world was in one room with us celebrating our love for each other. It does not get any better than that.
