Matt and I were married on the weekend of the Persian New Year. The Persian New Year marks the first day of spring, and we loved the symbolism of starting our life together on the first day of a new season. Our wedding ceremony was held on a beautiful Friday afternoon in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Many of our family members and close friends came to the temple to attend the ceremony and celebrate with us on the beautiful grounds. Afterward we held a dinner at Simon LA. On Saturday, we had a formal ring ceremony and our reception at the Sofitel.
We wanted to make the wedding reception feel like a party, so we created a confetti theme and incorporated it with a modern lounge-like feel into the design of the reception. We enlisted Heidi Mayne, of Red25Events, as our wedding planner. No one could have done a better job. Heidi, along with her colleague Catherine Beckman, succeeded in making every detail of the wedding “ours”. It took us some time to find the perfect venue for the ring ceremony and reception, but once we met with Sophie Jones from the Sofitel in Beverly Hills we knew we had found the perfect spot. After we picked the venue, everything else seemed to fall into place.
We needed a DJ that could incorporate Persian music with our other somewhat eclectic tastes in music, and DJ Patrick from Hey Mr. DJ did just that. We danced the night away, and I numerous guests requested copies of the playlist. Our caterer, Rahbar, from Rahbar Catering, prepared the most delicious Persian fare – a worthy wedding feast. Our florists from Holly Flora were wonderful. They created the most beautiful centerpieces and my bouquet could not have been more perfect. All of our venders really took time to understand what we were looking for, and each went above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Some of the highlights of our wedding that were particularly special to us were: having access to the Sofitel’s rooftop helipad for photos against the LA skyline, using a vintage suitcase as our guestbook with guests signing personalized travel stickers, and using the perfect pink “confetti” lights that made the reception room simply breathtaking.
We felt very lucky to have Anna Page as our photographer. Anna had previously been my sister-in-law’s photographer, and I had been poring over her Anna’s beautiful photos long before I was engaged. We are still in awe of how perfectly she captured our wedding. Thank you, Anna!
