From Justin of Justin DeMutiis Photography...With a “found again” love for film, I set out on a mission to shoot beautiful things. I chose one of my favorite locations; Selby Gardens, located in Sarasota Florida. This gorgeous venue lends itself to it’s beautiful gardens which was the primary reason for a “French Garden” inspired shoot. Along with a few members of my team, we set out to find items that would make my vision come to life. I decided the shoot needed to be in the winter; therefor, a warm and cosy theme fit the bill. Nothing says warm and cosy like tea and honey. It was a no brainer, an outdoor tea party featuring beautifully packed honey jars as wedding favors was the only way to go.
With a growing trend in French inspired DIY weddings we needed to do something to set my work apart from the others. I am passionate about the environment and strive to incorporate recycled, and reused items in my business as much as possible. If we were going to feature “honey” favors, the environmental message had to be “Save the Bees”.A custom designed, engraved sign adorned with our message in french (“Sauver les Abeilles”) was hung in the gazebo. To further encourage the message, lavender seed packets along with a message from the bride and groom were placed in handmade envelopes and doubled as place settings. A matching handmade guestbook added to the decor.
Beautiful bouquets of lavender, sweet pea, and peonies, (just to mention a few) adorned the table in makeshift jars-turned vases along with tea cups acquired from a quaint little antique store located near my hometown in Brooksville, Florida.I felt this shoot incorporated so many things I love: film photography, outdoor weddings, nature, saving the environment, and all things vintage or handmade. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
