This wedding by Smitten Photography is what little girls' dreams are made of, completely romantic and perfectly pink. Alyse Woodward Events designed a sweet southern soirée with gorgeous pink hues, vintage accents and charming decor. Personal touches met guests at every turn, from the bride's father performing the ceremony to her mom's homemade apple butter favors, it's just want my sappy heart loves most in weddings. Not to mention they had a biscuit bar set up with all the fixin's for their guests...which I must admit, I secretly hope becomes a trend for any upcoming wedding I attend (hint, hint). "A simple and elegant southern affair with a vintage touch….this is how I envisioned my wedding day. Simple was a key ingredient in this wedding recipe as I refused to let my indecisiveness take over. Jacob and I wanted the entire day to be centered on our endless love for each other, our family that brought us to this point, and our friends that witnessed our relationship grow. It was important for us to include our family in making the day feel personal and intimate. The ceremony was held at the church that I grew up in and the church where my father has been a minister for 26 years. My Dad performed the ceremony and Jacob’s Dad arranged the ceremony music. We were overjoyed that some of our grandparents could be there and I’m not quite sure the ceremony could be more beautifully described by anyone other than Jacob’s grandmother, Nana.“Yes, Beloved, the wedding did happen and Jacob and Emily are wed. It was unspeakably beautiful, hearing her Dad give the ceremony from an overflowing heart of gratitude to God for the blessings of this sacred marriage. The blessed minister-Dad spoke so richly from his heart he had tears flowing down our faces more than once, his own voice breaking more than once.
”The Duke Mansion in Charlotte, NC was the perfect fit for our reception. We wanted a venue with character and charm which the Duke Mansion exudes. Cocktail hour was in the center courtyard where lawn games were set up for entertainment. Stations were used to present the southern style menu we had selected. The famous biscuit bar was a hit which included an assortment of biscuits and toppings of smoked ham, country sausage gravy, creamy cheddar grits, smoked chicken and peach preserves. An antique vase belonging to my aunt served as a center piece for our soft seating in the terrace where the peaches foster station and coffee bar were set up. My mom made jars of homemade apple butter for our guests to take home at the end of the night. It was an unforgettable evening filled with love and laughter, more than we could have ever dreamed or imagined."
