We have a pretty good inkling that you’ll be clicking on each and every gallery but that is fine by us.
This first wedding has so many amazing bits and pieces, we really don’t even know where to start. The vintage decor, the home baked desserts, the gray clad maids all in a row…all of it is so stinkin cute and perfectly set at this old Texas ranch. In fact, we may even go as far as to say it is the end-all-be-all of shabby-chicness and Hailey Erickson was there to capture every pretty moment. Thanks to amazing friends, SPECTACULAR family, and a husband that makes me more proud than a college graduate, our wedding surpassed anything and everything I had ever imagined it being. With my fiance’ in iraq serving front lines with the Army, It was up to my crazy organized mom and me to pull all the plans together. Working with a smaller budget along with me, the bride, being very determined & creative, it was DIY “heaven” for us all! Colors and theme were based off an old farmhouse style with light and charcoal grays, neutrals, burlaps, taupes, and a pinch of peachy pink. I happen to work for a lady who not only is an amazing interior designer but who also owns a home decor shop which her product and style reflects the very theme for the wedding! We were so fortunate to have this very dear friend offer to not only donate the decor for the reception hall but also bring some of the crew to help pull it all together. My mom is the founder of a company called Homemade Gourmet which made the food part of this shindig pretty simple! We wanted our wedding day to feel like a big family style celebration filled with lots of home style touches which is why we served our guests a chili buffet! We were so fortunate to be blessed with handfuls of servant hearted friends who prepared and served the bride and groom’s choice of three types of chili over fritos, rice, or, of course, chili dog! The buffet also included a variety of toppers to finish off each selection. Cook Ahead Details: To help with the budget and make preparation easy on the day of the wedding, my mother cooked ground beef and chicken every weekend for 4 months to freeze and use the day of the event. When it came time to make the large batches of chili, we used Homemade Gourmet’s White Chicken Chili Mix, Bonnie’s Blue Ribbon Chili Mix and No Alarm Chili Mix. All we had to do was open the packages, pour into pots with the precooked meats and some canned ingredients and in an hour the chili was ready to serve.
For guest favors, I wanted to play off of the new fad of a candy table but make it more of the home style theme that reflected our personal style. So, we went with a ‘baked goodies to go’ favor table. At the entrance to the barn we took Homemade Gourmet baked treats made by my very own mother, gramma, and the groom’s grandma. The guests filled brown paper bags with their choice of baked goodies, sealed them with a personalized round sticker. and took them home to enjoy the next day. (choices included: Homemade Gourmet’s mini pecan pie muffins, chocolate chunk cookie muffins, white chocolate cranorange cookies, brownies, and oatmeal cookies)
