from the lovely bride …
Matt and I met in 2004 at a show for a local bluegrass band here in Lexington, KY. We are both big live music fans and LOVE the jam band- Widespread Panic. We have continued to travel with friends all over the country and abroad to see their shows as well as other live music. The song that was sung at our wedding by my best friend was a Widespread Panic song called “Longer Look”. The lyrics also appeared on the first page of the wedding program.
We had our beautiful son- Andrew in 2007 and then decided to tie the knot this year. Matt worked with a jeweler in New York to design my ring and proposed to me at home in front of our son, it was so sweet! We decided to get married in Sanibel/ Captiva because I spent many vacations there as a child with my late grandparents and now we vacation there with Andrew and Matt’s family.
Our small and intimate ceremony was held during sunset at a small beachside cottage in Captiva with about 20 of our closest friends and family in attendance; a small reception followed in Sanibel at the historic Casa Ybel Resort. The look of the wedding took it’s inspiration from antique shell prints. It all began with the invitations and the seashell theme seemed to evolve. The muted, natural tones of the islands’ famous shells were the color story for the entire wedding.
All of my wedding stationery including the invitation suite, programs and menu cards were custom designed by Donia Simmons of The Blu Sash. The invitation suite included a save-the-date, a letterpress invitation printed on 100% cotton ecru card stock and mounted on bronze metallic card stock. Then there are the unexpected little details like the event card, coordinating vellum map and the shell printed envelope liner.
My dress was designed by Allure Bridal, my bouquet and flowers were done by Floral Artistry of Sanibel and my cake was made by Mason’s Bakery in Ft. Myers.
