We love a short wedding dress, and this one does not disappoint. The bride found this sweet little BCBG dress on eBay for just $110…SCORE! Even though the bride says that the “one word to sum up the plan for our wedding would be budget”, they certainly did not scrimp on style. They infused their personalities throughout (check out the adorable mad libs below) and handmade all the papergoods themselves. We are swooning over their creative style and are certain you will soon be too. Check out more of their cute wedding here. XO, Tori & Myka

From the bride:
One word to sum up the plan for our wedding would be “budget.” We started by leaving sweet home Chicago for the nearby Hobart, Indiana- which saved us a fortune! Better food, more booze, and a GREAT location for half the price! Plus, I am a crafter at heart, so I decided to DIY a lot of the goods. I made our invitations, the wedding advice “mad libs,” our programs, the drink flags, the kids’ activity books and the confetti flickers. Also, it helped that I wanted a short dress – I ended up finding this cute little BCBG dress on eBay for a scant $110!!
Next, we focused on not being wasteful. We really didn’t want to buy anything new that wouldn’t be put to good use more than once. In fact, several of our decorations were re-used at a friend’s wedding just weeks later! The centerpieces were glass bottles and jars my mom and I collected over about a year and filled with candles that I bought online wholesale. The frame that held the seating chart was garbage picked from the alley behind our house, painted white & backed with a fabric remnant I already had on-hand. The candy table bowls and dishes were purchased at local thrift stores (we only spent about $20) and the little traincase that we used for the cards was bought second-hand as well.
The invites & most of the other “paper goods” (like the mad libs) were printed on Paper-Source paper that boasts its high recycled material content (oh, and our save the date was sent electronically to save paper, too). We were really trying to make the event “us.” We’re not serious, stuffy, traditionalists- we’re young, fun and creative, and we wanted to show that off! We wanted to keep things simple and keep in mind what really mattered to us: celebrating with close friends and family! Sticking with that, not only were our brothers our best man and “man of honor,” but Jeff’s sister even married us! All in all, I think we did great for our little wedding!
The only thing we really “splurged” on were the photos. We agreed we needed to put our money where it mattered, in the photos, which last a lifetime. Instead of cheesy favors for our guests, we had the photobooth which allowed us to share our love of photography with our guests and them to take home a piece of our wedding.
Thanks for sharing your sweet little day with us.
