Whenever I get a new wedding from the ladies of Simply Bloom Photography, I know I’m in for some eye-popping prettiness. Each and every wedding Vania and Christine send my way exudes this soft, romantic glow, and I always have this overwhelming desire to step inside the photos and be a part of the action. Today’s outdoor affair is no exception. The gorgeous pastels and naturally occurring floral decor of Amber and Teddy’s wedding will lure you in like a good lover who also writes poetry. It’s simply that well-rounded and emotionally satisfying. Not to mention… wait for it… wait for it… a CUPPIE-CAKE IS INVOLVED. And if you know me, you know I love me some cuppie-cakes. A few words from Amber:
Teddy proposed to me one summer morning after making a delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon, and a diamond-flavored muffin. Teddy got down on one knee and told me that the last six years had been the happiest of his life, and he wanted to spend the next 80 years of his life the exact same way. He custom-made the most beautiful antique engagement ring that I had been obsessing over for a few months, and I was ecstatic!
Soon after we got engaged, I went and looked for a wedding dress because this has to be the best part of the whole wedding planning process! Well that might have been a mistake because I bought the wedding dress before I picked my wedding venue, and I ended up being the bride who bought two wedding dresses. After I bought my initial wedding dress, we hunted down several venues (I dragged Teddy to wedding venues at 9:00 in the morning until we found one that we loved). I wanted a white house with southern charm and that’s just what I found in the Payne-Corley House.
I took inspiration from the wedding venue and our wedding season, Spring, for the style of the wedding. There was no need to accessorize the wedding venue with flowers because we decided to get married outside, in front of the Payne-Corley House, where azaleas were in full bloom. Soon after we found our wedding venue, Teddy left for business in Italy for two months, and I was left planning our wedding mostly by myself. He got off easy didn’t he?
Choosing a photographer was one of the most important aspects of the whole wedding because we know that these photographs will last forever and when we grow old and forget some tiny details of our wedding, we can go back and look at our wedding pictures and remember those tiny details. We cannot express how happy we were to have chosen Simply Bloom Photography. Our engagement pictures and wedding photographs exceeded our expectations in every way.
I searched through thousands of wedding flowers to find the perfect bridal bouquet for our wedding, and I found a gorgeous bouquet of pink football mums. Then I picked coordinating bridesmaids bouquets that were full of snapdragons, pink football mums, and roses. I decided to make the flower girl’s (my nieces) flower balls myself because I was on a tight budget. They were also easy to make, and I wanted them to be able to keep the flower balls after the wedding.
Bridesmaid’s dresses were very difficult for me to choose because I wanted a classic color, not something that screamed “wow that dress is from the 80’s!” So, I chose champagne for the color, and necklines reminiscent of the 50’s to complete the classic look. Lastly, I gave my bridesmaids two choices in necklines because I wanted them each to have a style they were pleased with.
I found our invitations on Etsy and fell in love with them immediately. The wedding invitations were colorful, cute, and fit our budget. I wanted wedding programs that were functional and chic, therefore, I made coordinating wedding programs that were fans. My matron of honor also designed a drawing of the wedding party for the program.
After my fiancé returned from Italy, we chose the cake which was made of cupcakes, my favorite dessert. The cupcakes were champagne flavored with raspberry filling and covered with butter cream icing. We absolutely loved the flavor and got rave reviews for our wedding cupcakes!
One of the most memorable parts of our wedding may have been the two trains that interrupted our ceremony, during the bridal entrance and during our ceremony song, but it was absolutely hilarious. We will also never forget all of the dancing we did and leaving under the sparklers. We had the most amazing time at our wedding and it definitely went by too quickly. The morning after our wedding, I told Teddy that I wanted to do it all over again! We loved sharing our day with our families and friends and enjoying special moments with one another as husband and wife. If I could plan a wedding all over again, I definitely would, but Teddy might definitely go back to Italy.
We are so happy with how everything turned out, and we each married the person of our dreams.
