This is the kind of wedding that my obscenely large Irish family would never stand for…and yet the kind of wedding that I have literally been dreaming about since I was a little girl. You know, a sweet, completely intimate wedding in an impossibly romantic place with only my closest family and friends to share the day. So for now, I’ll just live vicariously through this gorgeous bride and her dreamy husband. Thank you so much to Jessica Lorren Photography for making me turn green with envy, in the best possible way. Click here to see even more.

Nick is from California, I am from Florida, and we met in medical school in Chicago. We fell in love while spending long hours studying physiology and anatomy and learning how to be physicians. When Nick and I got engaged over Christmas, we were already planning a trip with our families to Lucca, Italy in May. We wanted our wedding ceremony to be a time for us to be able to focus on the promises of forever we were making to one another, and decided that a small wedding with our families in Italy could be perfect. And it was.
We were married at the villa Nick’s Grandfather Lino grew up in, and our reception was held at the little church Lino attended while growing up. The villa is over 150 years old and was filled with memories and memorabilia of Nick’s rich Italian heritage. I carried my heritage with me as well, pinning my grandmothers’ brooches to my bouquet and bustle, wearing my aunt diamond earrings. As so many of our friends weren’t able to trek across the pond to be with us, I carried something from each of them with me as I walked down the aisle: the flower on my dress, the brooch in my hair, my Vera Wang “Princess” perfume. My grandmother Florence’s hankie was wrapped around my bouquet; the “F” on it also represented my new last initial.
It was a surreal and emotional day, filled with love; exactly how we had pictured it, yet somehow also beyond our wildest dreams. Jessica Lorren Photography so exquisitely captured the sentiment of the day, and we treasure these images.
