I am really excited today, because I get to introduce you to Sofia and André, the amazing, hyper-talented and nicer than your Mother (depending on the Mother) team behind the incredible force of BrancoPrata. Sofia and I go way back – not like me and Mariah go back to baby and pacifiah – but back far enough to know that she’s the bee’s knees and her right-hand man, André, knows how to snap a killertastic wedding photo. So, naturally, it brings me incomparable joy to share with you the fabulous work they’ve done with today’s gorgeous feature, the wedding of Alice and Sandro in Portugal! Here’s the rundown from Sofia of the inspiration that brought this day to a reality:
Alice’s mother first contacted us; she found our blog and since she was helping her daughter organizing the wedding she decided to give us a call!! Since that day we were so excited with the vision Alice and Sandro had for their wedding day!! They wanted to be surrounded by family and friends (150 guests) and they wanted every guest to have a good time… Thinking back, that is exactly what happened – since me and André left the wedding at 6:00 a.m.!
Both bride and groom knew exactly what they wanted for their wedding day so they talked to a friend to design the invitation (we ended up only using the phrase, “It’s better together” which their friend had put on the invitations). After that, they were inspired by a board over at Style Me Pretty‘s Style Circle, and chose the colors on that board for all the decor and stationery!
Since the groom parent’s have two antique shops in their hometown, Viseu, they thought it would be perfect to incorporate some vintage and antique items like the antique bottles for table numbers or silver spoons and forks displayed over by the buffets. An amazing thing we were lucky enough to use was an antique harp (that they brought from the store) and some antique golden frames which we used to display the setting chart. Alice and I went “shopping” (one week before the wedding) … we went to the antique store Sandro’s parents have… we had a blast picking up things to use on the wedding decor!!
The bride’s Nana sent her old books (some of them were great love stories) witch we used as table centerpieces, together with flowers like hydrangeas, peonies and carnations. The groom’s father handmade the cake topper inspired by this cake topper we posted on our blog via Martha Stewart Weddings. He also restored a huge wooden frame that we used as setting for the photo booth (and on the morning of the wedding he put the frame up on the dinning area.. and that was a huge, huge antique frame we brought from an old abandoned hotel).
Alice’s mother did the ceremony programs! And Sandro’s brother chose all of the music played during dinner. They entered the dinning area with “All you need is love” from the Beatles and had a jazz band playing during the cocktail hour (we made a “it’s better together” sticker to put on the drums….) We also made little boxes with petals so guests could showered the newlyweds as then came out from the church!
As you can see this was a labor of love for both families and that is why we loved to work with them so much…
Thank you, Sofia and André, for letting us take a peek inside this chic, romantic and beautifully styled affair! Sofia your floral arrangements and chic decor choices, combined with the photographic genius that is André, make for one incredibly inspirational wedding event.
And a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Sofia from the entire SMP team! We heart you!
