Texas Wedding with Decadent Details

It’s Real Wedding Wednesday…which is the worst name on the planet for the best day ever! We are doing real weddings every hour on the hour today with links to the full galleries so that you can really pick and choose the weddings that you want to devour. I’ve asked Abby S. from Life in the Superburbs and Erin of Erin Ever After (and now a full timer at SMP) to help out with the weddings and the result is total eye candy. First up, Abby S.

This wedding is precious. Thoughtfulness is just oozing through each and every image. As a family gal myself, I just love when wedding details are so family centric. The trifecta of vintage-style, family and thoughtfulness, brought to us by the talented masterminds of 2 Dine 4 Fine Catering , Strong Events and Whitney Lee Photography, turned me into a complete sap from the very first moment I laid my eyes on it, and I secretly love when that happens (we can keep that between us though…). While planning our wedding, James and I had two main objectives. We wanted our wedding to feel like us and represent our love of family, antiques, the environment, and Mediterranean food. Vintage trinkets and antiques have a rich history of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and lasting quality. Because of their history, James and I knew we wanted to incorporate then into our wedding. After treasure hunting in local antique stores and family closets, we found meaningful décor elements to create our vintage wedding.

James and I were married under an arched stained glass window that was made in 1880! The window hung from a 100-year old live oak tree. Beneath the tree was an alter James and I made from left over from the patio stone. While our guests enjoyed Mediterranean hors d’oeuvres, they found a Spanish-inspired “Cartas Postales” book we converted into a guestbook and golden frames filled with photos of past family members. When they arrived at the reception, antique skeleton keys escorted them to their table. Each table was adorned with colorful vintage oil lanterns, canvas prints made of our favorite vacation photos, local organic flowers, and a unique set of family china. Yes, all hors d’oeuvres, salad, dinner, and desserts were served on 10 unique patterns of family china.

Since our trip through Greece, Italy, and Spain, James and my culinary love of Mediterranean food has been in full swing. For the wedding, we knew we wanted to share our love of food and give our guests a Mediterranean feast. Our caterers created a menu so authentically Mediterranean that if when I closed my eyes I could feel the Amalfi coast. A few the menu favorites included petite falafel ka-bobs, grilled shrimp on papadum chips, homemade foccacia, toasted Israeli couscous salad, chicken breast topped with yellow gazpacho, grilled lamb chop with tamarind glaze, and the moistest tres leches cake I have ever put in my mouth.

My heart is happy looking at this wedding – love that.

XOXO, (the other) Abby from Life in the Superburbs
