Mega Wedding Crush Alert. Anyone who knows me is well aware of the fact that I fall in love with weddings on a daily basis but dare I say; this just might be my most favorite wedding of ALL TIME. Danielle and John were married at The Metropolitan Building in Long Island City, New York. With an incredible warehouse venue as the backdrop, this artsy duo put together something so unique, so gorgeous, so eclectic aaaannd they did it all on a budget. All of the lovely details were captured by the husband and wife duo behind Weddings by V & E. Still need more of that perfect, perfect shade of robin’s egg blue? This wedding was a small affair designed by the bride and groom on a budget. The bride is an artist and an avid antique collector. The Metropolitan building was a perfect fit since it is also houses antique furniture that may be used during the wedding. The bride’s mother created her cake topper  (the knit birds) and her veil. The bride created non-floral centerpieces to save money by using birds’ nests, branches, little birds, stones, birch bark and candles. Birds became a theme throughout the wedding… robin’s egg blue was used on the stones, as well as on the eggs that sat in a bed of moss for escort cards. A large alcove became an installation of antique birdcages and candles. Her invitations were hand-drawn, and used birds as well.

Music was also very important to the bride and groom because the groom’s family has a band. His father played guitar as they walked down the aisle and his sister sang during the ceremony. The bride’s dress was a Lela Rose sample, which she had custom altered to fit as more of a mermaid silhouette. She altered her shoes by gluing on fabric flowers, and also had a pair of sandals from Anthropologie for dancing.
