Another little known fact. Sometimes, I dance around the house singing “Tim Finnegan Lived in Walkin’ Street…” Okay, not sometimes. A lot. So much so, that my daughter starts giggling the minute I put my arms in their appropriate jig position, knowing exactly what’s coming next. So, when I saw this amazing Irish inspired shoot that the insanely lovely Shannon Leahy designed and Larissa Cleveland…well, jig central. Click here to see even more!
The centerpiece of the wedding would be a traditional Irish handfasting. I imagined a set of earth-toned ribbons and twine that would bind the bride and groom together. I scoured San Francisco for the perfect mix of textured ribbons and then incorporated delicate lace trim from the 1920s.
The flowers had to be green and white for an Irish wedding but I wanted them to feel modern and fresh. Green parrot tulips and white ranunculus felt like the perfect fit. To recall the handfasting ceremony, we wrapped the glass vases in leftover fabrics and tied them off with twine and ribbon. Mira Aster’s paper materials also incorporated these textures and lace.
I had fallen in love with a Louis XVI style chair reupholstered in burlap and we used that as inspiration for the bride and groom’s chairs. We found a replica chair at Blueprint Studios and Anne of Mira Aster thought to calligraph the bride and groom’s initials on the fabric.
I’m so grateful for everyone’s involvement… here are the amazing vendors that helped make this shoot possible:
