When Amy and Stuart first sent Vy and Michael’s wedding my way, I have to admit, I thought, “talented brides like Vy make wedding designers like myself obsolete.” I know that may sound extreme, but it’s kind of true. And yet when I saw this perfect DIY affair really unfold, I couldn’t contain myself. It’s just so ridiculously gorgeous, so totally thoughtful, I couldn’t help but fall in love. First up, let me just tease you with the glorious DIY invitations that I’m sure made guests all giddy once they opened this little package of goodness.
And, oh my, that dress, those shoes, that hair!! And, don’t even get me started on that vintage faux fur stole. Major swoon!
Here’s a bit of insight from the bride herself:
If I could describe our wedding in a few words, it would be: vintage romanticism meets eclectic detailing. We were very inspired by our venue, Smog Shoppe. It possesses lots of qualities my fiance and I embrace – eclectic furnishings, a fun and non-fussy vibe, and sustainable design. Our aesthetic leans towards a blend of vintage and modern and we wanted a wedding that conveyed a fun, unfussy, and unexpected atmosphere.
One of the details that was most important to us were the invites. I’m a fashion designer who LOVES color, so we used tons of color on our invites, which I designed. I was inspired by the look and feel of vintage French perfume & soap labels. We wanted invitations that felt unexpected and timeless, yet warm. I wanted things to be mismatched, yet possess a cohesive overall look. The individual shapes of the invite, map, RSVP card, and info card made the invitation suite feel like something your great aunt would have saved. The wood veneer pochette gave everything a warmth that we really wanted to convey. Lastly, we used mismatched vintage stamps for our envelopes to reiterate the eclectic-meets-vintage vibe of our wedding.
