I thought we could start the day with the prettiest little Sausalito wedding, photographed by Stephanie Pool for Lisa Lefkowitz. There is nothing extravagant or showy about this wedding…it’s simple, completely sweet, traditional affair that was all about the beauty behind the day.
Here are a few details…
Aimee Arrieta and Simon Pearce were married on August 8, 2009 at beautiful Cavallo Point in Sausalito. The couple fell in love with the location with its abundant natural beauty and historic charm. Following a friend’s recommendation, Aimee and Simon hired Maxine Andrew from Instead of You, to assist with the remaining design and coordination.
An intimate group of eighty friends and family were present from the Bay Area and around the world, including Simon’s family from England and Aimee’s family from the Philippines. Providing the sounds of Aimee’s native country, guitarist Florante Aquilar performed Filipino love songs during the ceremony as guests arrived as well as during the ceremony. With the San Francisco skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge providing dramatic backdrops for the ceremony, Laurel Winzler from Laurel Designs kept the floral decor soft and natural with arrangements of mixed blooms accenting white wooden folding chairs. Aimee carried a bouquet of garden roses, sweet peas, lisyanthus and orchids in tones of ivory, green and lavender, wrapped with satin ribbon. Simon’s boutonniere was a cluster of hypericum berries with small green orchids, surrounded by herbs.
When it was time to go inside for dinner, guests picked up seating assignments affixed to charming little silver elephants. Tables were named after Aimee and Simon’s favorite Bay Area music venues such as The Great American Music Hall, Bimbo’s 365, The Fillmore, and the Greek Theatre. With greens and purples being Aimee’s favorite colors, it was natural that this combination was worked into the dining table centerpiece arrangements. Lisyanthus, dahlias, mums, orchids, plus grasses and a few other textural elements were gathered into softly compact arrangements in ceramic containers. Bengaline table linens in “Pea Green” completed the tabletop look surrounded by mahogany Chiavari chairs.
Festivities concluded late in the evening after several hours of dancing to an international mix of music. Many of the overseas guests commented they had never been to “an American wedding,” saying it was the best time they have had in a long time.
