Thank you so very much to John and Nikki, of the FABULOUS Spruce Floral, for letting us showcase their wonderful wedding on SMP. It’s backyard chic to perfection.
Because of Nikki’s design background we were now fortunate enough to have friends that were professional photographers. In fact, there were no less than five in attendance – one being an old friend who, at the age of 72, had been a photographer for 50 years. Long-time friends, Michael Robinson of Robinson Photography and Tanya Lacourse of Violet Marsh Photography, took candid photos of the event both before and after.
Family and friends and spruce staff helped set up, cook and decorate the tent. A “wishing tree” made of manzanita branches was arranged so that guests could write wishes to the bride and groom and hung on the branches with ribbons ribbon.
My sons gave Nikki away, dressed in custom Converse Chuck Taylors (designed by Nikki) in lime and olive with black distressed jeans, black jacket & vest, white shirt and white tie, loosely undone. Nikki wore a vintage inspired gown with subtle beading on the empire breast and a handmade lariat designed and made by her godmother. Nikki’s brother performed the ceremony – the choice based on her close relationship to him and his wild sense of humor (which was in keeping with the vibe of the day). In fact, he stopped mid-ceremony and put out a tip jar for guests…and then asked if anyone else would like to be married while he had the power to do so that day.
The day was filled with great food custom cocktails in coordinating hues (pineapple kiwi martinis and blueberry cosmos) and lots of dancing .We ended the night (appropriately) with hundreds of sparklers a real testament to how we felt. A candlelit path led guest safely home from a perfect day.
