Amsale is by far one of my favorite gown designers. Although I’ve always adored her collection, my real love affair started with this amazing dress and has continued to grow with each new line that she designs. Lucky for us, one of our SMP gurus, Jessica, was able to attend the Amsale preview show a couple of weeks back and not only did she come away with some pretty great inspiration, she also scored an interview with Amsale herself!
From Amsale’s…“In my spring 2010 collection, my philosophy of simplicity, combined with unique fabrications and architectural references have made possible a collection of dresses worthy of editorial yet wearable for today’s modern bride.”
Q. What is your inspiration behind the collection?
Every season I think about the bride – she is a clean sophisticated woman. I think of the wedding – taking place in a loft. I envision the whole wedding when I brainstorm designs for the collection – Amsale is simple elegance.
Q. What are the styles behind the season? What are the trends?
Architectural with one focal point. It is clean but soft. For example the brooch would be the focal point on a particular gown.
Q. What is your favorite piece or detail from the collection?
“Pleated tulle, straight-line stitching – a very clean line. I just love them all!”
Q. What defines Amsale?
“Classic, modern. Simple lifestyle but – minimalist but with the right thing. For example before she walks out the door, she is very clean, she doesn’t do much but she puts on just the right lipstick and she is stunning.”
