Today I have an absolutely gorgeous wedding, shot by Andrea and Casey of Casey Cunningham Photography. It’s a stylish, but smartly budgeted affair with a drop dead gorgeous (and oh-so-smiley) bride…
First of all, I love that the bride and her maids seem so happy…their emotion seems to make the whole day shine a little brighter. Then there is the simplistic, but incredibly chic wedding style. Every element seems natural, not overdone or over-designed. When you are working on a budget, it is so important to approach your wedding from this standpoint. If you give sparkle to the details by keeping things elegant but simple…you really can’t go wrong!

Our wedding was very much a reflection of both of our styles which is classic and simple. Since the reception was to be outside during the best time of Spring, we really wanted to play on the great color of the yard, which was such a verdant green. And, since my taste is very classic, I choose to go with
all black and white, including bridemaid dresses which were black as well. This way we would get that classic look we wanted without taking away from the beauty
of nature.
My favorite touches were the topiary center pieces, which were also a huge money saver. Our flowers were originally going to cost upwards of $4000 until I
decided that topiaries would be much cheaper and I liked them even more and had always wanted to include them somehow.
Another great touch was the twinkle lights inside the tent and the black and white dance floor- together they looked like a wedding scene out of a movie! We were so
pleased with how it all turned out despite the rain!
But may favorite thing of all, besides marrying my dream man of course was my dress. I got it at the Gown
Boutique of Charleston and literally ended up designing it almost all over compared to what the original dress looked like. There was so much work to be
done to make it look exactly like the vision I had of the perfect dress and they did everything phenomenally.
If I had one tip for brides it would be this…choose two or three things that are non-negotiable to spend the bulk of your money on.
For us it was music- we had 3 different types during the ceremony (violinist, 2 bagpipes and a drummer, and a gospel chior) and a 9 piece chamber orchestra at
the reception, food- Capital Grille catered, and tents. Once those things are budgeted try to save everywhere else because there are so many unforeseen expenses that come up!
