College Sweethearts Wed in Tropical Key West Soirée

When your sister is a majorly talented event designer – one, you’re the luckiest bride ever… and two, you know your wedding is going to be everything you dreamed of and more. Today’s gorgeous couple tied the knot in a vibrant, colorful celebration set in sunny Key West planned by Kate Murtaugh Events & DesignBeach Plum Floral Design created epic arrangements that will transport you straight to a tropical oasis. The night ended in classic Floridian style, complete with a pastel watercolor sky – don’t miss out on the full gallery of beach wedding inspo all captured by Stephanie Vegliante Photography!

From Kate Murtaugh Events & Design… With a passion for travel and a love of hosting and spending time with loved ones, it didn’t take long for college sweethearts Hannah and Connor to choose Key West as the beautiful backdrop to their destination wedding. Hannah is a full-time COVID-19 ICU nurse so planning a wedding was tough during the pandemic. Still, it came incredibly appreciated and well-deserved for all the time and dedication she put into her patients and their care.

“Navigating the pandemic as a first responder really helped put wedding planning into perspective for me. At the end of the day, your love together is all that matters,” says Hannah. We were fortunate to travel to a special spot and hug and dance with our family and friends! It’s not lost on us that so many people couldn’t do that.”

Hannah and Connor’s wedding week was filled to the brim with excursions for their out-of-town guests, including a catamaran cruise around the Gulf of Mexico and a welcome party in the heart of Key West on the historic Duval Street. It was important for the couple to entertain their guests from start to finish and to leave feeling like Key West had a piece of their guests’ hearts.

On the wedding day, Connor and Hannah’s sun-filled ceremony was at the island’s historic The Basilica of Saint Mary Star of the Sea, surrounded by their closest friends, family, and the beautiful Spanish-influenced architecture. Afterward, the couple and their guests were whisked away to a lovely seaside tented soiree at the Casa Marina inspired by the tropics and Key West’s incredible natural environment.

The bride’s sister and Matron of Honor, Kate of Kate Murtaugh Events & Design, carefully curated the celebration with vibrant and colorful hues and personal touches, including custom stationery from Karli Strohschein, fine details like Thai silk tassels, and modern patterned linens from La Tavola. Beach Plum Floral Design designed organic floral arrangements evoking a tropical oasis, including native growing flowers, plants, and exotic fruits. Guests enjoyed cocktails on the sand against a famous Key West watercolor sunset before entering a glittering clear top tent to dine under the stars, dance to live music from Bay Kings Band, and snack on the bride’s favorite: Key Lime Pie for dessert.

“After deciding the wedding would be in Key West, we had a specific vision of what we imagined for our wedding day. We came to my sister and her team and decided we wanted to do something different for our big day. Our most significant request was for the design to reflect our personalities and the type of wedding we wanted; fun, bright, and colorful. As our excitement grew through the months of planning and working through vision boards and color palettes, the moment we stepped into the tent on our wedding day to see what we, KMED, and our amazing vendors had created was unparalleled.”

An Organic Free-Flowing Editorial Done In Neutral And A Splash Of Strawberry

Neutrals and a splash of strawberry red lead the design palette for this San Francisco editorial shoot. Woven baskets, fresh fruit, and wooden elements add to the free-flowing feel of the dreamy day all expertly designed and planned by H & L Lovely Creations.  The reception showcases a serpentine table covered in beautiful blooms by olivewood florals that will take your breath away.  Every darling detail was artfully captured in the imagery by Iann Ivy, see it all inside the full gallery.

From H & L Lovely CreationsThis shoot was inspired by the European look of the beautiful Gardens of Filoli in the city of San Francisco where beautiful architecture, secluded colorful gardens, and water features are the main ornate of the property. You feel transported to a magical place and can connect with nature as soon as you step into it.

With the idea of bringing something organic and flowy as the principal vision, we played with mainly neutral colors and added a touch of strawberry reds to it. Elements like baskets, benches, and fruit preserves were also used to enhance the idea of the natural/earthy inspiration. A 3-tier cake with painted flowers was displayed.

A serpentine table with all the details was at the center of the gardens to welcome the guests for a special alfresco celebration, inviting them to enjoy the space and the view. The bride wore a Monique Lhuillier gown full of floral appliqué details and the couple’s furry “son” was also invited wearing a cute black pet tux.

Come Registry Hunting With Us In Real Life With Waterford!

In-between the squealed “yes!” and the teary “I do!” of your wedding season comes one of best movie montage moments for home enthusiasts alike — the registry hunt. Now a-days most registering happens online (sans the scan gun, which we think is a bit of a travesty) and that also means you can miss out a bit on getting your hands on the products to recognize the quality.

So we did the in-person research for you! Our content team headed down to do an exclusive tour of the private Waterford showroom in NYC to get an up-close-and-personal look at all of their most recent products.

Registering Intentionally 101

Here’s the thing about a registry — this is the time to be practical, sure, but it’s also the time to think of items that will become staple elements in your newly shared home. So have some fun! Pick items with a nod to longevity and luxury that allows you to appreciate them for years to come. And to be quite honest, we don’t think a registry is complete without crystal.  The clarity, heritage and craftsmanship that goes into a well-cut collection of Waterford crystal is just the right amount of pizzazz to add in your home and everyday moments. And as Katherine Heigl pointed out in 27 Dresses, it’s not just a vase, it’s the vase that he’ll forever use to put his “just because” flowers in. So that vase needs to be quality.

And a registry is a time to revel in quality. You’ll want to look at theses items and remember who got them for you at your wedding, and as each year passes you can fondly know that this clock or that bowl has been around since you and your spouse have been together. And you just know there’s a favorite aunt or second cousin out there somewhere who’s dying to send you a vodka chill set with shot glasses  (one of our absolute favorite items in the showroom, won’t lie)

So come on besties, walk with us through the exploration process in the Waterford Showroom.

Picking Your Style

From gorgeous classics to a more modern cut, Waterford has an array of options for you and your future spouse to choose from that all instantly elevate your home, no matter the style.

Classic Cuts

When you think of Waterford, their classic Lismore cut glasses, decanters, vases come to mind first, and with good reason. The Lismore pattern has been around since 1952 when Waterford was revitalized by Czech Miroslav Havel and it is now the most popular cut in crystal. When you’re looking for classic (which is always a good idea when registering, we might add) you simply can’t go wrong with a classic cut.

This classic crystal cut also translates in to fun home decor items like perfume bottles, photo frames and trays if you want to think outside of the kitchen or bar and expand your collection to other parts of the home!

And if you’re looking for a really spectacular way to elevate an everyday item, look no further than the  absolutely *gorgeous* Irish lace bowls and thank us later when your fruit looks undeniably chic.

Fun Patterns

One of the surprising frontrunners in our quest to find the perfect registry item was something we didn’t even know existed until we saw it in the showroom — the Stellar Collection! And when we read the history on it, we fell in love with it even more.

The Irish stargazing heritage is brought to life with the zodiac tumblers, so if you’re the type of person who checks your horoscope daily or has a general appreciation for the night sky, this collection is for you! It’s modern, fun and provides amazing talking points at any gathering you host at your home!

Modern Lines and Moody Adaptations

But, my friends, the core value of crystal can be translated to a myriad of other design styles. If your style is more modern, we can attest that the Lismore Arcus pattern is absolutely stunning in real life. Chefs kiss, sign us up.

Or if you’re into a moodier translation of a classic cut, take a look at the Lismore Black collection and be prepared to swoon. If you’re a #nightlux kind of gal, this is the collection for you.

Items You Can Feel Good About

Emma Watson once said the key to shopping sustainably is to keep items out of a landfill, and translated to home purchases that means keeping an eye on quality while you shop. Not only does Waterford literally *define* longevity, but as a company they’ve made significant efforts to make their product friendly to the environment.

Waterford has spent the past few years developing a formula to create crystal so clear (like, crystal clear incase you were wondering where the phrase came from) that is 100% recyclable. The new material is twice as strong and more resistant to heat, meaning Waterford craftsmen can create designs with deeper, sharper cuts to develop more luxurious designs.

Waterford has also adapted the way they create their products by designing state-of-the-art factories, which recover the maximum amount of energy. As a result, the electricity in the manufacturing process is now 100% renewable. What’s more, the water used throughout the production process is constantly cleaned, recycled, and reused, without a single drop wasted in the creation of the product.

*In accordance with national recycling legislation and local requirements in countries where Waterford is sold.

In addition to their sustainability efforts, one of the best things about Waterford is that your participating in history of classic glass-making. On their website they say “technology is no replacement for proficiency, and our Master Craftsmen possess exemplary artisanal talent” and reading through the process of how each Mastercraft piece is made will likely blow your mind.

Waterford has preserved the art-form of mold-made, hand blown, and Master cut (yes, as in a human Master Cutter) crystal making with several inspection points to insure the finest hand-created quality you could ask for.

One of the most obvious things getting to walk through and see the products in person was how big of a difference there is in the quality of Waterford crystal. The weight of the products felt substantial, the intricate details were even more stunning in person, and even though it was a bit of a cloudy day outside, the crystal still had a shine to it that was unreal. You can trust us when we say we felt like we were picking up items that were hand-cared for and masterfully made.

How To Register for Waterford

The good news is that Waterford is easily added to your registry no matter where you house it! First and foremost, you can actually set up a registry on their site guaranteeing you get access to all of their best product selections. Not to mention all of the major registry stores have a selection of Waterford to choose from.

But even with all of the online options, we can’t stress enough the fun to be had by going on the hunt in person! Many luxury retails and department stores that carry registry options allow you to go in store and see the items up close and in person, and if you choose your store correctly, you might even get a scan gun of your own! (Call ahead and see if the store still uses scan guns for registry items, it’s half of the fun)

Tell us about your color palette!

The Perfect Lip Color Isn’t Found, It’s Made–Let Lip Lab Create Your Custom Shade For Your Big Day

It’s true what they say, your wedding flies by in the blink of an eye, but…your photos last forever. That’s why it’s super important to make sure you have your whole look perfected long before the big day, and that includes your makeup. While you likely have a pro doing your hair and makeup for you, there’s only so much they can do with what they have in their arsenal. Having the right shade of lipstick is as important as having the right foundation or concealer–color can make or break a look. If you’ve tried unsuccessfully in the past to find your perfect nude or the right shade of red and can’t seem to put your finger on it, don’t beat yourself up, it truly is a science–that’s why Lip Lab was created. They’re a team of dedicated color specialists that work with you to discover what shade looks best on you based on a variety of factors from skin tone and undertone to hair color. Searching for your perfect shade? Here’s what you need to know…

How It Works

First, your Color Expert will get to know you either in person at one of their ten brick-and-mortar locations or virtually from the comfort of your home. They figure out exactly what you’re looking for and assess your coloration to see what shade will look best on you. From there, you can select the finish: matte, satin, or sheer. If you’re going nude for your bridal look, we recommend a sultry satin finish. For that no-makeup makeup look, try a sheer version of your perfect pink. Want to bring the drama? Go for a matte finish on your favorite shade of red. The possibilities are endless! If that wasn’t exciting enough, Lip Lab also lets you add a flavor to your custom lipstick, so your S.O. will remember that first kiss for a lifetime to come. Finish your bespoke lip color with a special engraving like a nickname only your fiance(é) calls you or your wedding date. Each time you pull it out of your makeup bag (which will be often) it’s a little reminder of the best day of your life.

Treat Your Crew

Looking for a way to thank your besties for everything they’ve done leading up to the wedding? Surprise them with a Lip Lab party! Forget awkward icebreaker games, your friend groups can get to know each other over a fun group activity and they’ll all end up with a keepsake that they’ll cherish forever, their perfect lip color! A bespoke lip color is also a fun way to incorporate your wedding color palette into your bridesmaids’ looks. Choose from Lip Lab’s endless shades of red, nude, pink, and plum to find a shade that flatters each of your girls and complements your wedding design.

The Gift That Keeps On Giving

Lip Lab’s world-conscious formula is a clean, vegan alternative to the other lip colors on the market, so it’s an investment you can feel good about. Your custom container is also refillable, so you can simply re-order your go-to color when it runs out or try out something new, it’s up to you!

Old-World Sophistication With Vintage Details At The Dewberry Charleston

Modern romance meets old-world charm at this decidedly chic wedding planned by Christina Baxter Weddings.  Velvet details, vintage cocktails, and show-stopping florals by Branch Design Studio set the scene for a sophisticated event celebrating the couple’s love.  Each artful image by Hannah Alyssa Photography is more beautiful than the last, you can see them all inside the full gallery.

From Christina Baxter WeddingsAfter 4 reschedules due to COVID, Rachel and Remington finally walked down the aisle on a beautiful fall afternoon. Surrounded by dear friends and family, Rachel and Remington exchanged vows in a romantic boxwood garden. Followed by a rooftop reception with a panoramic view of the holy city’s skyline, where guests could enjoy a breathtaking sunset and sip signature his and hers cocktails and delicate hors d’oeuvres, hi-lighting flavors of the Lowcountry.

The guests were then invited to a seated 4-course dinner al fresco under the stars and french bistro lighting. And then danced into the wee hours to ending with a grad exit and departure in a vintage 1949 Oldsmobile convertible.

How They Met: Remington had just moved to Charleston after being stationed in Yokosuka, Japan with the U.S. Navy. Rachel was living in Charleston for the summer before beginning medical school. They met through mutual friends and had their first date at a local wine bar where they shared their very first charcuterie board which has since become a staple!

Rachel’s vision for her wedding was to capture the old-world sophistication of Charleston and The Dewberry Charleston itself, with vintage cocktails and lush details.

Rachel’s Favorite details include their first look in Charleston’s historic French Quarter along with the vintage car. Lush white ceremony florals lining the aisle and climbing up the cypress trees for the ceremony backdrop. Walking down the aisle to Fleetwood Mac’s, Landslide, performed by Charleston Virtuosi. Rooftop cocktails overlooking the Charleston harbor at sunset. Candle-lit alfresco dinner in the courtyard with live jazz music. Romantic table scapes and all of the velvet!

A Secret Garden Inspired Wedding in the Cotswolds at the House From “The Holiday”

You may recognize the setting of today’s stunning Cotswolds wedding from the cult-favorite movie “The Holiday” – you know, the scene where Amanda and Graham frolic around the garden grounds in her iconic cream shearling coat? Yup, that one. It’s safe to say this is our dream English Countryside wedding come to life… filled with fashion, an all-star team of vendors and the quintessential charm of The Cotswolds, all captured beautifully by Chloë Winstanley Photography.

From Chloë Winstanley PhotographyEmmy & Milam travelled with their 200 guests from Dallas, Texas to The Cotswolds, England to host their wedding celebrations in the picturesque rolling hills and gardens of Cornwell Manor. The ideal setting for their ‘garden formal’ themed affair, together with wedding planner Kerry Poulter Weddings & Events the couple held an array of gorgeous celebrations.

Emmy and Milam met in London while working abroad in 2018. The running joke is that these two Texans had to move to England to meet each other. When the time came, Milam designed Emmy’s unique, 3-band engagement ring after her grandmother’s wedding ring. The couple got engaged in the private garden of their flat in December 2020. After years of being abroad and the ongoing impact of COVID, the couple decided to move to Dallas to be closer to family. They looked at a few venues in Texas, but ultimately wanted to go back to their favourite place to get married – the English countryside.

During their time in London, the couple would escape to The Cotswolds for romantic getaways and knew it would be a perfect place for a wedding. Emmy always envisioned a garden wedding, so she started searching for venues in the area. The Cornwell Manor estate seemed like the ideal place for a Garden Formal affair and could accommodate their 200 guests. Emmy was certain it was the spot, but Milam wasn’t so easily convinced. After hours of in-depth, thorough research on the area, the Groom agreed—it was simply stunning.

They visited Cornwell in August 2021 and worked with their stellar wedding planner, Kerry Poulter, to create a vision for the weekend. Since the majority of guests were coming from overseas, Emmy and Milam wanted to host several events in addition to the wedding itself. These ancillary events included a Welcome Pool Party, Pub Day (for the groom), Tea Party (for the bride) and a Rehearsal Dinner for all guests who made the journey.

Kerry advised on a cohesive wild garden aesthetic that did not detract from the natural beauty of the estate. All vendors bought into this vision and enhanced it with lighting, linen selections, and other subtle touches. Always committed to a theme, the bride and groom even wore shades of green at every event.

The wedding bouquet and flower arrangements lining the aisle were inspired by the bride’s unique Toni Federici veil. Greenery from the estate was used by Fiona Perry as she incorporated live plants to invoke the feeling of a true, secret garden. These same wild flowers were also used by Daisy Pratt to design a delicious, 4-tier wedding cake complete with both Vanilla & Elderflower and Chocolate & Salted Caramel flavours. The ivory linens and chairs were chosen for their neutral color and comfort in order to allow for the focus to be on the florals and romantic candlelight.

The night was capped off with a spectacular performance by The Sensation Band. The bride and groom changed clothes and put on their dancing shoes (or in the bride’s case, took them off!). Since the wedding weekend took place during Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, the couple provided fun props – paper crowns, Union Jack hats, and masks of the Royal Family – for guests to wear on the dance floor. And as every good party should, the evening ended with crowd surfing, grilled cheese and French fries.

A Bespoke Inspiration Shoot In Burgundy Filled With French Elegance

A true celebration of love, this elegant editorial shot in France is sure to inspire.  Filled with pastel hues and lush floral design by Les Ephemeres every inch of this dreamy day planned by Cher Amour feels like a work of art.  Incredible imagery by Thomas Audiffren perfectly captures the old-world charm mixed with modern touches for a truly memorable moment in time.  Visit the full gallery for a closer look.

From the planner, Camille Guigou from Cher AmourMy Dear Love – Mon Cher Amour – we say, “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye”. Yet, here in Burgundy, I want you to feel the beauty of love. To take a step back through time, and (re)discover the kindness of a love epistle. A poem between two lovers.

It is, in this world of enchantment and delicacy, at leDomaine du Réveillon, that this wedding took place. While crafting what will turn into a lifetime of souvenirs, I wanted to inspire my future brides and grooms to live a unique experience. A moment of felicity in the heart of Burgundy, land of History and French Gastronomy. A bespoke menu created just for the occasion, with the most exquisite delicacies. Mercurey Premier Cru, “Escargot à la française”, it was all about embodying this “French Art de Vivre”. But most importantly, it was about reminiscing the beauty of being together and celebrating one of life’s most precious gifts: love.

The design, in all its elements, from the tiniest detail to the harmony of the day, was about experiencing love in its purest and most sincere element. This is why I have chosen this beautiful team to accompany me on this adventure.

However, this delightful day started way before the wedding day itself. Atelier Preszburger crafted unique paper products by hand with a golden monogram, where the peach and blush ribbons brought the last touch of refinement. Elegance in all its subtlety. While using pastel hues, and floral details, we wanted the guests to feel this soothing romance at the exact instant they opened their invitation. A feeling to be felt from that moment until the wedding day.

No details have been spared to create an other-worldly atmosphere. Les Ephemeres went for a Renaissance style with a twist of English Garden for her floral design. In accordance with the stationary and venue, the tones were light and airy from the ceremony set-up to the table setting.

Collaborating with the porcelain designer Raynaud Limoges, the dinner table was an ode to French elegance, with the table set “à la française”. wedding cakes and co’s masterpiece was the ultimate addition to the glamorous atmosphere. Chic and enchanting, the cake was both scrumptious and perfectly in accordance with the floral arrangement.

Naturally, those beautiful surroundings were a mere mirage without our beautiful couple. Our dazzling bride wore a stunning gown from Galia Lahav with Bella Belle Shoes, and a make-up signed by Antalya. After discovering her love letter, she couldn’t resist running down the romantic stairway to meet her very dapper husband-to-be in a RIVES Tuxedo for their first look. The ceremony, perfectly captured by the videographer Thomas Augier, took place in the gardens, and even before you know it, the party started, and the bride changed into her alluring second Galia Lahav gown.

Together, we have created memories to cherish, and stories to tell, that the Film Photographer Thomas Audiffren beautifully captured to bring us back once again to this beautiful day.

This Couples’ Southern Wedding Was Inspired By The Colors Of Spring And Whimsical Wallpaper

This wonderful wedding design was inspired by the colors of springtime in Charlotte and a whimsical wallpaper design the bride fell in love with.  The Bloom Room brought our couple’s Big Day vision to life with lush white blooms and a reception ceiling dripping with live greenery.   Every moment was lovingly captured in a way that only Demi Mabry Photography can, see every detail from this southern charmer in the full gallery.

From the couple… Austen and I started dating in college seven years ago while I was a sophomore at the University of South Carolina and he a junior at Appalachian State University. We met through a mutual friend that he had gone to high school with and who was one of my good girlfriends in my sorority. She set us up for the last sorority function of the year and the rest is history! We continued to date and do long distance for roughly three years of our relationship and then finally both settled down in Charlotte, NC, my hometown after I graduated. We eventually made the move up to Raleigh, NC, where he is from, a month before Covid hit, and quickly settled into the quarantine life in our new home.

In December of 2020 Austen popped the question… and let me tell you I had no clue it was coming! Right after Thanksgiving, Austen began asking if I would like to go up to the mountains for a little getaway weekend with just us and our dog, Henry, one weekend in December. Knowing that we were going on a big trip to Colorado for the holidays, I was hesitant to add on one more trip the weekend before we left. I was also convinced he was going to pop the question on this family trip. It took some convincing, but eventually, I said yes and we booked our Airbnb. That Saturday we took off bright and earlier for a very, very cold hike. I knew I should’ve been suspicious that Austen wanted to get out before the crowds, but I honestly didn’t think twice about it at the time. It was a long, straight, uphill hike, and there were many moments that I almost made him stop and turn around, but thank goodness I didn’t. We finally made it to a lookout spot to sit down and relax. Once we settled down, before I knew it, Austen was next to me, pulling a small box from his bag and asking me to be his wife. I was in pure shock! Not only because he did not seem nervous the entire time, but because I jokingly told him never to propose while I was in hiking boots. When we were in college, he told me that he wanted to ask me to be his girlfriend on one of our hikes but go too nervous and couldn’t do it. He always knew that he wanted to ask me to marry him in that same way, and it could not have been more perfect. Not but five minutes after Austen asked me to marry him, my parents and their dog popped out of the woods for the best surprise ever. We celebrated with lots of happy tears, champagne, and the small weekend getaway became one of the best weekends of my life!

I always knew that I wanted to get married in my hometown, Charlotte, North Carolina, so selecting our venues was an easy process. We were able to have the reception at Quail Hollow Club and the rehearsal dinner at The Duke Mansion, two venues that have been a part of my life growing up. The ceremony location holds sentimental value to me as it is the same church where my parents were married in 30 years ago. Having a picture of the two of them, walking back up with the same aisle, hand in hand, will forever be so special for all of us. When Austen and I got engaged, we were in the middle of Covid and we knew we could no logistically have the wedding reception that we wanted in 2021, so we looked straight into March of 2022. We wanted our wedding to be a celebration and a gift for all of our friends and family to be together and have a weekend filled with love and a wonderful time. The overall look and feel of our wedding was clean, classic, and sophisticated. The inspiration for the color scheme came from the colors that we see in Charlotte at the beginning of early spring. Hues of whites, shades of greens within the trees, and pale neutrals were incorporated throughout the whole weekend. With this inspiration, our wedding planner, Katrina Hutchins Events, had the perfect idea to customize our bar front with a Schumacher wallpaper that incorporated all of these beautiful colors. We were able to match many of these colors into items such as our invitations, bridesmaid dresses, and flowers to name just a few.

In addition to the overall design of the wedding, we wanted to include personal touches that were meaningful to Austen and I. We included our dog Henry by having a watercolor painting of him placed on our cocktail napkins and drink menu. We also wanted the food to represent my family’s love for southern fare. The majority of Austen’s family are from the west coast and up north, so it was fun to have them experience a taste of the south. Shrimp and grits pulled pork sliders, and a late-night chicken and waffle bar were some of the main hits. One of the best personal touches was my dad surprising us, wearing his family Scottish kilt attire, greeting us at the end of our sparkler exit. Everyone loved it! We then hopped into my grandfather’s silver vintage 1967 Mercedes convertible and my dad drove us away. It was the perfect ending to the best weekend of our lives!

From Demi Mabry Photography… Ginnie and Austen were truly a dream couple – all things gracious, kind, and fun! Katrina of Katrina Hutchins Events always creates true masterpieces for her clients’ wedding designs and this one was no different. With a design plan inspired by the colors of spring in Charlotte and a Schumacher WALLPAPER the bride loved, this wedding designed by Katrina Hutchins Events channeled the colors and patterns of a traditional southern soiree.

The wallpaper, featured on the front of Ginnie and Austen’s custom bar made by Dan Lanning, served as inspiration for their invitations also, with a coordinating pattern designed by Olive Paper being reflected in their envelope liners. Beige lounge furniture with lush, green pillows and overhanging chandeliers with natural greenery woven throughout was the perfect ode to the original wallpaper design.

Whimsical Destination Wedding at Quinta Da Penalva in Sintra, Portugal

From pops of color at their floral-focused ceremony to endless strings of twinkle lights at their al fresco reception, today’s wedding in Portugal is the definition of whimsical. After visiting the groom’s family home in Sintra, this adorable couple knew it was the perfect place to host their destination wedding weekend! Planned by Sofia Nascimento Studios and captured by Diane Sotero Photography, the full gallery is chockfull of details you don’t want to miss.

From Diane Sotero Photography… Nestled among gentle hills and a majestic pine forest, Anastasia & Sebastian gathered friend and family in the whimsical town of Sintra, Portugal to host their destination wedding. Anastasia from Russia and Sebastian from the U.K, hosted family & friends from Russia, Ukraine, U.K and many other corners of the world, to celebrate their love.

What did you envision your wedding would be like prior to planning?

From the Bride… I envisioned it being magical and whimsical, we wanted it to be an event that people would always remember and for it to be a celebration of not only us but our families as well. We wanted our guests to feel like they were on holiday.

Why did you choose your destination wedding location?

I fell in love with Sintra when first visiting Sebastian’s parents home. They have a summer home in Portugal and the architecture and greenery perfectly fit our wedding theme requirements.

What was your favorite moment?

My favourite moment was just before I was due to walk down the aisle. Standing at the back with my father, having this moment with him, this moment of pride and joy before walking down the aisle, to my husband, with one of our favourite songs and everyone we loved being there with us to share this moment.

Tell us about the flowers, your favors, cake, etc.

We went through a bit of a change cycle with flowers, first we wanted everything to be in pastel tones, but then re-assessing the landscape we decided to add more pops of colour, and it worked perfectly.

About the gown:

I was one of the covid-brides. When we got engaged most of the shops were closed, so I didn’t start my gown shopping until very late, and then everything was so delayed as there was such a backlog. I found the gown shopping so hard, but one thing is true when you find the one you will know it right away! I was going for practical and simple vibes, as I wanted to be able to freely move and dance in my dress.

We were really keen to incorporate beautiful Portuguese culture into the wedding, so we had lots of blue colour, Portuguese food, Dulce de leche cake, Douro wine and of course favours.

We wanted favours to be timeless, without any references of our wedding, one of these “if you know, you know” things. So we’ve gone for cork coasters with a date and place, and some beautiful tile biscuits, all packaged in the custom made boxes matching our invitations.

What is one piece of advice that you could give to brides-to-be?

My piece of advice for future brides would be to get a wedding planner and not to try to do it on your own and also delegate as much as possible to your bridesmaids.

You’ll Love The Personal Touches And Polaroid Station At This Quebec City Wedding

Say cheese! This Big Day is full of special touches from a traditional Iranian ceremony with a Sofreh Aghd to a Polaroid station for guests to snap pics! Sinclair & Co. Design brought the couple’s vision to life with expert planning and floral design that made the postponement of their original date due to COVID totally worth it.  Imagery by Stephanie Mason & Co. has the love and joy of the day shining through, see it all inside the full gallery.

From the bride… We actually first met in March 2010 at a party celebrating the Persian new year. Farzad’s best man, Saman, was actually our mutual friend and we met through him. After that initial meeting, we didn’t see each other for 5 years until reconnecting again in 2015 through Saman again. After hanging out a couple of times, he asked me to be his date at an upcoming gala and the rest is history! Funny thing is that when our parents met for the first time, they actually ended up already knowing each other through the Persian community. It felt like it was meant to be from the very beginning! 3 years after our first date, Farzad said he had a special day planned to celebrate this milestone. He told me we had reservations for a fancy restaurant for lunch and were getting drinks at one of my favorite spots downtown. He told me to dress up for the occasion. While strolling through downtown Ottawa on our way to lunch, we were approached by 2 young photographers who asked if they could take photos of us for their new studio website. To be honest, I was a bit hesitant at first, but seeing how willing Farzad was, I agreed to do it. The photographers guided several poses, one of which I turned my back to Farzad. They told me to turn around for the next picture, and when I did he was standing on one knee! After the initial SHOCK, I said YES of course!

Since we’re both Persian, we wanted to incorporate cultural traditions into our wedding day, while still keeping some western elements. We did a traditional Iranian ceremony with a Sofreh Aghd (table spread with various objects that each have meaning to celebrate the new marriage). We both had bridesmaids/groomsmen and did the traditional father/daughter dances. We had two first dances so that we could incorporate both Persian dancing and a western slow dance. After our grand entrance into the reception hall, we did our Persian dance that’s more upbeat. For our slow dance, we had all our guests go outside with sparklers and we walked through the sparklers and had our slow dance—it was magical! Our venue was Le Belvedere —famous for its cliffside views and romantic atmosphere. We were originally supposed to get married in 2020, but like many other couples, we had to delay it to 2021 due to COVID. This also meant we had to reduce our guest list to 80. Considering Persian weddings usually have over 200 guests (some reaching 400), this was more of an intimate affair! In the end, we loved this guestlist number since it meant that we got to interact with every guest making it that much more special and memorable. Since our venue has such an incredible view, we didn’t need to go overboard on decor and florals. Our main themes were classy, romantic, and elegant. Our color palette was dusty rose, dark green/sage green, and gold. The bridesmaids wore dusty rose while the groomsmen wore light grey.

For the ceremony we had a traditional Persian table spread set up, called the Sofreh Aghd. Each object on the table symbolizes something related to the new marriage (e.g. sweetness, fertility, prosperity, fruitful future). We sat at the front of this beautiful spread during our ceremony and a canopy was held over our heads by members of our family. As the ceremony took place, members of the family took turns grinding sugar cones together so that the sugar granules fell into the canopy, symbolically showering us with sweetness for our marriage. The table that’s needed for the Persian spread needs to be a specific height so that guests could still see us during the ceremony with all of the items that are required. We couldn’t actually find a table that met our needs, but luckily my husband is a talented woodworker and so he was able to build us the table we ended up using! It added a special element to use something he built for our day and it was something only a few people knew about.

For the reception, we wanted to keep it clean and elegant. Our florist made the most elegant floral centerpieces in a gold compote. Some of our floral and greenery types included: ranunculus, pink/peachy roses, blush stock, eucalyptus, and Italian ruscus. We had a sweetheart table with a massive greenery arrangement, with pops of white/pink roses spanning the table. We also repurposed some of the large floral arrangements from the ceremony table to the reception area. We had a Polaroid station located at the entrance so that our guests could capture moments throughout the evening. For the cake, we kept it elegant and feminine. Our florist also assisted with adding florals to the cake to make it flow with the rest of the décor.

I wanted my bridal bouquet to have light pink and white components, but I wasn’t too picky about the specific flowers. I hired a florist I trusted completely and left the design element up to her since I adore her overall style and arrangements she’s done in the past. Some of the floral and greenery types she ended up using included: ranunculus, pink/peachy roses, blush stock, eucalyptus and Italian ruscus. I provided pictures of what I liked, and she blew me away with the end result. I was also obsessed with our sweetheart table that had a massive greenery arrangement, with pops of white/pink roses. It was a big statement piece and really added to the space! We also had rose petals given to our guests in small cones to throw during our exit from the ceremony which added a lovely touch, especially for our pictures!

For our wedding favours we gave small jars of local honey, sourced from our family friends that own a bee farm. We actually filled and signed each of the jars ourselves, which added a nice personal touch (although it took a lot longer than we originally thought)! Our favorite part of the day was the first look. It was an intimate moment that we had before the chaos of the day began and it really took away all of our nerves when we saw each other for the first time. It also gave us a chance to take pictures and have some alone time before seeing our guests. I would highly recommend a first look!

My main wedding dress was a Martina Liana (style 906) from With Love Bridal Boutique. I loved it the moment I tried it on because it was exactly what I wanted in a dress – classy and elegant while still feeling sexy! Later in the evening before our slow dance, I changed into a simpler fitted white dress. I loved the contrast between the two looks, and both were surprisingly comfortable which was important to me! Farzad did a traditional 3-piece light gray suit with a tie. He’s known for loving his Casio watches, so he wore his gold one on our wedding day. I wanted the bridesmaids to all to have the same gowns so that the collective pictures looked clean and elegant. They wore a long dress from BHLDN Madrie Dress in the color dusty rose.

The most special part of the day was the first look and also walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Farzad standing there. The speeches were also so special to us and very emotional! All the small things that I was worried/stressed about (e.g. bridal/grooms entrances, dances, changing into a second gown, etc.) didn’t end up mattering at all. I would try to enjoy every second of your wedding day and hire a coordinator to assist with all the things you don’t want to worry about. I would also book a venue that has a good reputation for food, service, organization, and overall customer service. These venues might cost more but you’ll save a ton of time, effort, and stress if you go with the pros! I also highly recommend choosing vendors that have worked together in the past and recommend each other. I called my vendor team the “dream team” because they were honestly the best group of people and made sure everything went smoothly! They also had a rapport with each other which meant they did a lot of the planning and organizing together on the side without my direct involvement. It made the whole experience less stressful and more fun, which is exactly what your wedding planning/actual day should be!

A Mid-Summer Castle Wedding In Seattle

This Seattle charmer is sure to steal your heart.  Filled with the bride’s own artwork and a sea of hydrangeas, just one look and you’ll feel as if you’ve fallen into your favorite fairytale. The dreamy day was planned by awaiting the name Floral & Design who created a ceremony so stunning it looked as if a garden was growing around the couple.  Studio Opia beautifully documented all the details in artful imagery that is sure to stand the test of time.  Watch the entire day unfold in the full gallery.

From awaiting the name Floral & Design… Our bride has always dreamed of a British castle wedding. And this stunning venue has everything to make the dream come to life. This castle in Seattle was built with intact charm using the brick of a 15th-century British house that was imported directly from England. With all the elements put together, we designed the theme as romantic with vintage accents.

From the bride… My husband and I share a lot great time together wine tasting and winery touring. And I have a huge passion for painting. So we had the idea to celebrate our hobbies or pastime interest at our wedding and make it one that is personal to us. From there, we titled our wedding “the wine and art at the castle”.

From awaiting the name Floral & Design…  The bride is a good painter and calligrapher, so we set up an open-air studio area in the yard to display the bride’s paintings of summer flowers. The paintings were displayed on studio easels where the escort cards, also from the bride, were placed.

From the bride… Yes, I made all the paintings myself. I had flowers in every painting as a way to appreciate and celebrate the summer season. All the work took me over a month to finish. I also brought my easels to display the work. I think they fit the scene really well. I DIYed a lot, I requested to do it myself because it is my passion and I had so much fun making them. Besides the paintings, I made the menus for flat lay, escort cards, vow books, table numbers, etc. I was initially planning to make individual menu for each of the guests myself but was stopped by my husband because it was too much work.

From awaiting the name Floral & DesignThe castle garden where the ceremony took place is a hydrangea heaven in the summer! It’s the best backdrop for the ceremony. We wanted to feature the hydrangea blossoms and decided not to add any unnecessary extras. Instead, we placed floor arrangements on the steps up to the ceremony stage with the idea of a growing garden. It created some warmness to the concrete floor, as well as a complement to the floral background.

A Sweet Summer Wedding in Sonoma at Maycama Club

The serene Sonoma wine country makes the sweetest backdrop for Courtney & Adam’s summertime wedding at Mayacama Club. Fresh and fun were what the happy couple and Ashley Smith Events had in mind while planning this special day. Hues of pink, lavender, and cream set the intentional and intimate ambiance with bursts of marigold adding vibrancy to the dreamy palette. Playful accents were all around to delight the guests – from ratan décor to a sushi station and even a disco room! Catch a glimpse of love as carefree and warm as the summer season in the full gallery by Michael + Anna Costa Photography!

From Planner Ashley Smith… Courtney & Adam are a fun-loving free-spirited couple that exudes sweetness and joy into everyone around them. Courtney and Adam were one of the couples that got engaged and started planning their wedding right before the pandemic hit. Originally scheduled for late September 2020, we pushed the wedding back one year and were able to host it in August of 2021.

They hosted a love-filled weekend in wine country at The Maycama in Sonoma, CA. The weekend was surrounded by loved ones who gathered safely (because of COVID) outdoors around Mayacama at their parents home playing golf and swimming. Mayacama was a serene wine-country backdrop for their summer wedding.

We really wanted the space to feel fresh and alive. We brought in colorful flowers from marigold in huges of pinks, lavender, and creams. The dinner space was meant to feel intentional, fun, and cozy. We brought in marigold colored fabric to drape the space to create intimacy during dinner & fun ratan pendants to add some playfulness and shape to the space through lighting. The guests spent the evening dinning on a massive seafood bar, sushi station, and Crudités bar from Michael Minna during cocktail hour and a four course dinner afterward. We created a disco room for them to dance the night away in.

An Old Hollywood Inspired Wedding at the Hotel Bel-Air

Classic, elegant, and full of glamour this Old Hollywood-inspired wedding at Hotel Bel Air takes us back in time with a modern twist. Details Details planned a day filled with chic touches, from the stunning all-white ceremony to the garden reception.  Tables covered in floral designs by Seed floral, in crisp green and white, were perfectly punctuated with pops of gold completing the luxe look.  Every incredible moment was artfully captured in the imagery by Blue Note Weddings.  You can take a closer look at every carefully curated detail inside the full gallery.

From Blue Note Weddings… Celebrating a wedding at the legendary Hotel Bel Air is an enchanting experience. Stepping foot on the extravagant and exclusive enclave sends you right back in time to a glamorous old Hollywood of the 1950s where guests such as Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn once walked the lavish hotel grounds.

When Catherine and the son of legendary rockabilly rockstar Lee Rocker of “The Stray Cats”, Justin Drucker, decided to get married pre-pandemic, their plans were thwarted two different times. Initially, they had their hearts set on a destination wine country wedding at Meadowood in Napa Valley. After Covid pushed their plans a year, the couple received the devastating news of the California Glass Fires burning Meadowood down. This tragic news forced the couple to re-route their plans yet again.  Usually, a traumatic derailing of wedding plans forces couple’s into giving up on a big wedding and eloping instead, however, Catie and Justin were determined to celebrate their love for one another in style amidst all their closest friends and family. The couple gathered their inspiration from the historic hotel making sure their colors stayed in a classic and timeless palette.

“We wanted our wedding style to be elegant and simple with a touch of glamour. We leaned towards a very clean look but also more traditional rather than modern. It was important to us to showcase our beautiful venue and not cover up too much of the natural foliage of the hotel. Having a large city wedding was not our style, hence, picking a beautiful sanctuary in the middle of busy Los Angeles, we knew Hotel Bel Air was what we were looking for.”

“A fun surprise that also contributed to our vision and theme was that at the time of our wedding, the Hotel was actually hosting an exhibit of Burt Stern’s final photoshoot of Marylin Monroe. The photoshoot, known as “The Last Sitting,” actually took place at the Hotel in 1962, and these stunning prints of Monroe’s final days placed all over the lobby were a surprising and beautiful touch to our special day.”

Throughout history, the infamous “Swan Lake” that rests on the hotel grounds has been where the magical birds have witnessed many couples exchange vows. In a romantic, verdant, and spacious lawn featuring a towering 100-year-old Sycamore tree, the couple said “I do” to a life together in matrimony, with the sounds of the swans. Being that swan icons made a gentle presence throughout the hotel, the bride and groom wanted to incorporate swans in their wedding details. “The British racing green and swan watercolor liners were a must for the envelopes. We went with a very traditional invitation with our wedding colors: British racing green, crisp white, and a touch of gold.” The bride also brought a porcelain swan that had been in her family for a long time to add to the invitation flat lay.

The bride wore a classic Marilyn Monroe inspired gown by dress designer Stephan Yearick Couture. “It was the third dress I tried on. I loved the vintage feel and it was something I had always pictured myself in.”

Justin looked dapper as ever in his custom-tailored Gucci suit. “He wanted something that was a rich blue. Justin’s maternal grandfather, Severin Wunderman, was a timepiece creator at Gucci so there was that family significance to Justin’s suit.”

The Bridesmaid’s dresses by Monique Lhuillier were chosen in a dark Racing green. “It was the color and the velvet fabric I chose, however, I wanted to have the dresses suit the individual, so we chose different styles for the girls.”

The florals were romantic and whimsical with white and ivory flowers consisting mainly of roses, calla lilies, ranunculus, and ivy. The calla lilies were an ode to the bride’s mother, whose wedding was also flowing with calla lilies.

The reception was held in the most picturesque setting surrounded by gardens and the quintessential Hotel Bel Air blush buildings. The couple shared a memorable first dance to Santo and Johnny’s 1959 instrumental classic, “Sleepwalk,” which really accommodated the “Old Hollywood ” feel of the venue.

A live band performed a mixture of 1950s & early 60s classics. “The genre of music was something that we both identified with, and wanted to tie into our theme.” The night went from amazing to incredible with a live performance by the father of the groom, Lee Rocker, of the infamous Stray Cats. “Our music was very important to us. Justin’s father, Lee Rocker, is an extremely accomplished musician and we were fortunate to have him treat us to an intimate, acoustic performance of Buddy Holly’s “True Love Ways,” a personal favorite of ours.”

Guests were brought to their feet when the band closed the dinner by bringing the house down with Lee Rocker performing the Stray Cats hit song “Rock this Town.”

Energized by the performance, guests headed out to the afterparty in the hotel’s Palm Room where the couple made another grand entrance in style. Catie had an outfit change into a cocktail suitable dress by Justin Alexander.“I loved having this dress for dancing. It was so much fun and the lattice design on the bodice reminded me of a mermaid.”

The Modern Groom Has Perfected Virtual Suit Shopping–And It’s A Game Changer

Everyone knows the challenges of finding “the one” when it comes to wedding gowns, there’s even a reality tv show about it. But, what about grooms? No one talks about how hard it is to find a suit that complements the overall aesthetic of the wedding and, most importantly, fits (which is way more difficult than it seems). Luckily, it’s a brave new world, and the days of wearing boxy rental suits to one of the most important events in your life are over thanks to The Modern Groom. A family-owned company, The Modern Groom, started as a high-end menswear boutique in Arizona and is now bringing that unrivaled service and one-on-one attention to grooms all over the country via their online experience. Starting at just $210, grooms (and groomsmen) can get a customized suit in one of The Modern Groom’s timeless shades–AND THEY CAN KEEP IT!

How It Works

The Modern Groom is not only dedicated to quality suits and perfect fits, they are determined to give couples everywhere one less thing to stress about when it comes to wedding planning. First, couples meet with one of their virtual stylists for a consultation. This is where you can discuss everything from your wedding design and color palette to your personal style preferences. With their expert eye, they help you select the perfect style for your big day. And not just for the groom, they can help you pick out looks for the whole wedding party! Once you’ve ironed out the details (pun intended), like the suit, shirt, and tie color, they send you an e-mail preview that can easily be forwarded to everyone that needs to be in the know for easy stress-free ordering.

The Fit Everyone Is Talking About

Everyone knows the key to looking put together in a suit is fit, and The Modern Groom has perfected getting that custom fit from the comfort of your own home. Based on your typical sizes and a few basic measurements your virtual stylist will use their proprietary formula to determine the best sizes for you. You read that right, sizes! They realize that humans aren’t built like mannequins, and some grooms may be one size in the jacket and another in the pants. Then, within a few days, you’ll receive your suit in the mail to feel, try on, and bust out a few dance moves and make sure it’s everything you dreamed it would be. To take it one step further, The Modern Groom asks their clients to follow up by sending a photo of themselves in their new suit to their stylist to confirm that everything fits just right. Then you just get a few minor alterations to ensure that it’s perfectly fitted to you, and you’re all set!

Timeless Selection

Some grooms know exactly what they’re looking for in a wedding suit, some don’t–and that’s completely OKAY! With an endless selection at your fingertips (thanks to the internet), finding the right suit can be like finding a needle in a haystack. With so many options, it’s easy to get overwhelmed, or, even worse, invest in something trendy that’s completely out of style by the time your wedding comes around. When you shop with The Modern Groom, their stylist can be as hands-on with your big decision as you’d like. The great thing about their suits is that they’ve made suit shopping foolproof. They have one universally flattering cut available in five timeless colors (Heathered Navy, Black, Midnight Blue, Charcoal Grey, and Light Grey) so you literally can’t go wrong!

The Best Part

Your wedding day is one of the most important milestones in your life. Brides drop a small fortune on gowns and no one blinks an eye…so why are grooms expected to rent their suits? Every groom deserves to look and feel their best on their big day, and let’s be honest…that’s just not happening in a rental. Thankfully, with The Modern Groom, your suit is yours to keep. And not just the groom’s suits, the groomsmen’s too! Imagine how thrilled they’ll be that their hard-earned cash is going towards a new staple piece in their wardrobe rather than watching it disappear on a one-time rental. And the best part, these gorgeous suits are super affordable! Packages start at just $210 and include all the basics of a three-piece suit. If you want to go all out, you can get the full look including socks, shoes, and a belt for only $350!

Men's Attire: the modern groom

Inspired by the Great Outdoors, This Escort Card Display Is Every Nature-Lovers Dream

Love is an adventure! With the creative direction of Magnolia Avenue Events, Kailey & Kyle’s wedding day is a celebration of their love for each other and for the outdoors! Inspired by the colors of a mallard duck’s feathers and the boundless beauty in nature, flowers are the focal point of this moody and intimate soirée in the bride’s family barn. Weddings By Scott And Dana captured all the rustic chicness! So, go ahead and discover the full gallery filled with love and wonder – don’t forget to stop and admire the jaw-dropping floral installation by The Posh Posey that gracefully hangs over the dance floor!

Kyle’s a captain and owns his own charter fishing company out of the Bay Area. Kailey is an avid fisher(wo)man and they met when she chartered one of his boats. They knew it was a heavenly match and the rest is history.

The thing I love most about Kailey & Kyle’s wedding is that they unapologetically included design elements that reflect the two of them. Some would call it a near-impossible challenge to have a high-end wedding that had a hunting and fishing theme, but Magnolia Avenue Events delivered. The wedding design truly embodied the passions they share, and it was beautiful and fabulous!

From the Bride… The way Kyle and I met was so fun and unexpected! I went on a chartered fishing trip with friends from work and he was the captain of our boat. I have always loved fly fishing for trout on the rivers, but I had never been deep sea fishing, so it was totally new to me. When we arrived on the boat at 5:45am, Kyle was there with his dog, Gator. We instantly connected and spent the whole day getting to know each other. At the end of the day he invited me to go fishing with him the following weekend. It is so special to us that we both met doing what we both love. Fishing will always be a huge part of our lives.

Nine months after meeting, Kyle and I went to Island Park, Idaho for the weekend to fly fish and visit with good friends. He and my great friend Kelli arranged for a quick hike before dinner where Kyle proposed along the bank of the Henrys Fork River. It was perfect. They had also organized dinner with our friends where we celebrated and had a wonderful weekend.

From the beginning, we knew we wanted our wedding day to represent us and our love for the outdoors and traveling. Ever since we met fishing on the ocean, it has been such a huge part of our relationship. We truly cherish all the time we get to spend adventuring together and we wanted that to be reflected on our day. Our design was also inspired by the feel of hunting lodges, which is why we incorporated different textures like the leather pouches on the tables, the leather couches, the velvet table cloths, and the suede bar menu. Our color pallet was inspired by the feathers on a mallard duck. The bow ties for Kyle and his groomsmen were made from mallard duck feathers.

Getting married at my parent’s home was such an easy decision for Kyle and I. Family is so important to us, and we thought it would be extra special to get married where we spend so much time laughing and creating the best memories with family and friends. We are very rooted in our relationships with family and close friends, and we feel that it made our wedding much more intimate. For us, it truly only made sense to have our wedding at our family home.

As for the ceremony site, I really wanted it to feel as if it was a church in a field of flowers. The beauty of the bright flowers surrounding the church pews was magical. Then, we transitioned to moody vibes for the reception. The flower arrangements lining the pathway to the barn from the ceremony site were ombre, starting off super light and bright at the ceremony site, and then slowly getting darker as they got closer to the barn. For the reception area, we really focused on bringing the moody textures of nature into the design to make our guests really feel as if we were outdoors. The seating chart was placed at the entrance of the barn and was the focal point when walking from the ceremony site. It was an 8’ tall wall that was painted with a view from a duck blind and read “Let’s not wing it” across the top. It included a portrait of Kyle’s hunting dog, Rumor along with rocks around the base that had mallard duck decoys mounted on them. We also added taller grasses to really bring in the feel of a duck blind and make it three-dimensional.

The entrance of the barn was also strung with lights, had a seating area with leather couches, a hand-rolling cigar station that had our monogram on them, along with a horse trailer bar serving cocktails. Moving into the barn, the first view was a huge hanging flower installation over the dancefloor, a great big chandelier in the center of the room, and the walls and ceiling were hidden in beautiful gray drapery with market lighting, and flowers covering almost every space in the barn. They complemented all aspects so well. We had a mixture of long tables and round tables that had so many earthy tones. The flowers included dark purples, blush tones, greenery, and elements like ferns. The cake table was even surrounded by flowers that climbed up the table and encircled the cakes. It looked as if the two cakes were growing out of a field of flowers! Both cakes had black fondant with life-like chocolate flowers and were SO delicious!

We also had a dessert wall that was painted black with the song lyrics “sweet like candy to my soul. Sweet you rock and sweet you roll” by Dave Matthews Band. My family has always loved that song. The tables were set with stunning flowers, candles, and place settings. Each place setting was topped with a leather envelope that had their name engraved on the outside. The inside of the envelope had a letter pressed card with a couple mallard ducks on it and the bible verse “they broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts” Acts 2:46. The other side of the card had the menu for the plated dinner. Each guest chose their meal prior to the wedding, they picked from a beef filet, a pork chop, chicken breast, or pan-seared salmon for dinner. Kyle is a commercial fisherman, so he caught all the salmon that was served at the wedding. We had a bottle of wine for each couple to take home for wedding favors. The wine grapes were grown in my family’s vineyard, then we blended and bottled the wine ourselves. We love that we were able to share something that our family created and put so much work into. The bottles had customized wine labels with our monogram as well.

There were so many moments that made our day so special. One of them was after the ceremony and family pictures, Kyle and I snuck up to the barn to have a quiet moment and appreciate all of the barn decor before our guests came up for dinner and dancing. It was so special because we chose to not have a first look before the wedding, so it was nice to talk and have a moment to connect, just one on one. When we were enjoying this moment together, he also revealed to me that he had customized his wedding vest to have photos of us printed on the back. He put so much thought into having that made for me, and I love that he surprised me with it.

Another moment that stands out as special was the morning of my wedding day. I woke up extra early… does any bride really sleep much the night before the big day? That morning it was downpouring rain and I sat next to the fireplace with my parents, as we had coffee and just relaxed for a while before everyone began to arrive. Having that special time with my parents really put me in a good mindset for the day. Even though it was pouring rain, I felt so calm and knew that it was going to be a perfect day.

My advice to brides would be to find vendors who you can trust, communicate, and connect with. Having a great team that you can comfortably share your ideas with is SO important. We took some chances on designs and it all came together perfectly. The day of the wedding I felt so calm and confident that everything was taken care of, and it was wonderful. Trust your vendors and be open to their advice. My team has become great friends and I am beyond grateful for everyone who helped my ideas come to life.
