Impressionist Artwork Inspired Spring Wedding At Kingston House

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The wedding color palette consisted of soft neutrals, lots of airy whites, and touches of pale blue and lightest blush. It was inspired by the softness of impressionist artwork, and the wedding day design featured artwork from two of the couple’s favorite impressionist artists., Monet and Van Gogh.

In Chinese culture, red symbolizes fortune and luck and is a common color in traditional Chinese weddings. Amy and Frank wanted to include red as a nod to their heritage without detracting from the romantic, fine-art color palette they desired on their wedding day. Amy selected shoes with red insoles, and frank wore a necktie with pops of red [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Amy and Frank’s wedding day was filled with beautiful, artistic details. From the hand-painted backdrop to the incorporation of impressionist artwork in their invitation suite and escort display, every detail was intentional. This wedding was also unique in that Amy and Frank found special ways to pay homage to their Chinese culture, while still maintaining the fine-art style they so desired. The double happiness character on the top of the escort display is a prominent symbol in Chinese weddings. It is meant to convey double the joy and happiness for the newlyweds as they begin their marriage. Including it on the escort display, which featured bookmarks (a nod to their love of reading) made from one of Van Gogh’s most beloved pieces of artwork (a nod to their love of the impressionist artist) created a wedding day piece that was uniquely ‘them’. The table numbers featured both their favorite quotes about love from literary works and Chinese blessings for a happy marriage. They found subtle ways to include red, a prominent color in Chinese weddings that signifies luck, without losing the fine-art feel of their Monet-inspired color palette and overall aesthetic.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Somewhat paralleling fictional counterparts Harry and Sally, Frank and Amy met at the University of Chicago as college first-years during orientation week and became the most platonic of best friends all throughout college. Only after graduation did they start dating, separated by an ocean with Amy teaching in China and Frank working in Houston. After long distance relationshipping for three more years and enduring many red-eye flights between SF and Boston, they finally settled down in the Bay Area with their feline roommates, Claire and Millie. Fast forward seven more years, one pandemic, many sleepless nights in Seattle raising the world’s most spoiled golden retriever, Frank and Amy finally decided to get married December 2021.

Frank ordered a dog tag for Woody that said “Will You Marry Me?”, but didn’t pay for express shipping and thus did not have it in time for a romantic weekend trip to San Juan Island where he meant to propose. But he did it anyway when the moment presented itself on a beautiful coastal hike because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. After finally acquiring the dog tag in question, and with the enthusiastic assistance of Best Dog Woody, he proposed to Amy (again) under snow-glittered pines overlooking a sleepily frozen alpine lake. Amy was definitely surprised (the second time) and did not suspect a thing. Woody celebrated by running across the snowy lake and tumbling into a group of unsuspecting hikers just trying to enjoy some hot chocolate on a winter day. It was the perfect start to the next chapter of the adventure of their lives.[/field]

Amy’s wedding day fashion featured two show-stopping gowns. Amy loved the architectural movement of the bodice on her ceremony gown by Luly Yang Couture. She wanted the romantic, more fitted style for the first portion of the day, but hoped for a slightly more traditional look for the ceremony. Luly Yang Couture fashioned a custom full skirt that could be added for the ceremony and it was such a beautiful juxtaposition with the more modern bodice.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

Amy and Frank chose not to have a traditional bridal party, and instead honored Amy’s sister as their maid of honor and chose their beloved golden retriever Woody to be the best man.

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

Frank worked with the brilliant tailor team at Sew Generously Bespoke to create his navy wool suit. His Hermès tie featured a whismical “loves me, loves me not” daisy motif to complement the garden theme of their wedding. Frank finished his look with handmade Vass dress shoes, custom cufflinks featuring cats portraits of Millie and Claire, and an A. Lange & Söhne timepiece.

Amy and Frank wanted to do more than serve a meal to their cherished guests; they wanted to create a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience that allowed them to celebrate alongside their friends over delicious food and drinks. Enter Chef Aaron Tekulve of Surrell Seattle! He worked alongside Amy and Frank to develop a 6 course tasting menu that spanned the duration of three incredible hours. The menu drew inspiration from seasonal locally sourced ingredients of the Pacific Northwest and traditional Chinese cuisine to create dishes like oysters with Asian Pear Pink Peppercorn Mignonette, roasted Peking duck with dehyrdrated beets, and chilled noodles with chili oil. Each beautiful course featured a wine pairing and guests were repeatedly wowed not just by the unique flavors but the impeccable presentation. Guests were delighted with a unique bar & beverage experience presented by the Bustender of Kitsap Bartending Services. The Bustender by Kitsap Bartending Services is a mobile bar custom built from a 1973 VW bus. The beverage menu featured specialty drinks in honor of Amy, Frank, and their three beloved pets, Claire, Millie, and Woody.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Much like every other detail on this wedding day, the floral design approach was incredibly intentional. The design featured minimal yet impactful florals that take their cues from the serene environment of the Kingston House‘s grounds and architecture. Early summer flowers in a restful palette of whites and soft, neutral hues accented with the palest pink to enhance the already lovely natural setting. Rebecca and Jesi, the floral designers, focused on materials with graceful form and soft, ethereal textures. When designing florals for the ceremony, which was held under a canopy of big leaf maples, the goal was to bring an ethereal feel into the dappled light of the grove while not detracting from the natural beauty of the space. An organic ground installation, composed of billowing textural arrangements, started at the top of the aisle with arrangements placed in alternating steps leading up to the altar, where they merged into a broken arch that was designed to mimic the natural framing of the surrounding trees. The reception featured arrangements varying in scale, from small organic centerpieces in low bowls to delicate and graceful ikebana-inspired pieces. Table ends were accented with billowing arrangements and the sweetheart table was framed by a broken arch, bringing the ceremony and reception design full-circle. Amy’s bridal bouquet was loose and organically formed, with an emphasis on movement and light textures. Her bouquet included garden roses, her late father’s birth month flower, to honor his memory as she walked down the aisle. One special floral element was Woody, the family dog and honorary “best man’s” floral collar!

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Creating Amy and Frank’s cake was a true work of collaboration with their artist Lisa of ‘Ālewa Bakeshop. They knew they wanted sugar flowers reflecting the same florals used on their day, and also wanted lilies on their cake to culturally signify good fortune and happiness. They also desired flavors that were light with hints of florals, so ultimately chose the roasted strawberry buttercream, yuzu curd with vanilla chiffon and the milk chocolate lavender ganache with earl grey cake.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

The Invitation Suite: Every element of their paper products was intentionally curated and held special meaning to the couple. The suite featured one of their favorite works from Monet as an envelope liner. They designed the oval floral crest (which was also used in their welcome sign) and while it appeared minimal and refined, held so much personal significance. The crest includes each of their birth flowers (cosmos and snowdrops) their last names in Chinese in the path of the oval to symbolize their union and the joining of their families. The custom crest also featured their birth flowers and each of their first initials.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The Seating Chart: Another nod to their love for impressionist artists, the seating chart featured Van Gogh’s Almond Blossoms, one of the couple’s favorite pieces. In addition to being a painting that they love, almond blossoms also symbolize true love! The seating chart was also a nod to their shared love of reading, featuring bookmarks for each of their guests, topped with vellum butterfly seat numbers. In Chinese culture, butterflies also represent eternal love, happiness, and good fortune.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

Woody: Amy and Frank love animals, and their pets are very special to them. They knew they wanted to honor them on the wedding day, but wanted to do so tastefully. Woody, their golden retriever (who happens to have his own Instagram!) served as their best man/dog of honor and really soaked up all the attention that day. Frank wore custom cufflinks featuring portraits of their cats Millie and Claire and their sweet kitties were also honored with specialty drinks at the bar and on the cocktail napkins.

A Gorgeous Italian Garden Inspired Wedding At Willow Heights Mansion

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The theme/vibe we were going for for the wedding was classic and romantic, while still trying to keep it fun. Think Italian garden. I stuck to neutral colors when it came to the color palette: black, white, beiges, taupes, light blush pink, and champagne.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

I don’t love very structured florals, so we went with very “whimsical” shapes instead of uniform bouquets/decor. Italian garden wedding was very much what I based the vision off of and wanted lots of trailing greenery and florals everywhere. We utilized the stairs, bar area, and outdoor fountain and had the decor team use lots of greenery to make it feel more “garden-y” inside and out so all the areas felt cohesive. We DIY’d the wedding logo, table numbers, 2 welcome signs, thank you notes at each seat for dinner, centerpiece tri-folds, seating chart, corn hole set and corn hole bags, and cocktail stirrers.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]We’ve known each other since we were about 5 years old, but weren’t really friends or anything. Our little sister’s are really good friends and had us take them trick-or-treating one night when we were in high school and that’s how we reconnected and have been dating since we were jrs in high school.

The proposal happened in Napa. My friends were in Napa for a separate occasion, so the weekend we were going up, he asked them to help him set up all the photo props. We went around to a bunch of wineries in the area and when we got back to the hotel room, my friends had decorated the room.[/field]

After cocktail hour, I changed into the Francois dress by Fame & Partners for a simpler second look. I went back and forth between deciding on if I should have a second dress, but I’m so glad I did! Definitely loved playing dress-up on our wedding day.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]During cocktail hour, we served hors d’oeuvres: bruschetta on crostini, ceviche, and arancini. For dinner, we had chicken marsala, braised beef, roasted veggies and risotto. We offered a veggie tower for our vegetarian/vegan guests! We had beer, wine, and cocktails available, but we DIY’d cocktail stirrers with our wedding logo to personalize the cocktails a bit more![/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Florals were a huge part of the decor because I was going for a garden wedding feel.

The flowers I chose were white cosmos, blush reflex tulips, white chamomile, queen anne’s lace, brown/mauve lisianthus, cafe au lait dahlias, cafe latte rose, opened blush tulips, cappuccino rose, italian ruscus, smilax, champagne rose, white majolica spray rose.

All these florals were used in decor, bridal bouquet, and bridesmaids bouquets.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”] Our wedding cake was made by Frost Cupcakes in San Jose (fun fact: they won Food Network’s Cupcake Wars!). We chose their red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, which was to die for! For the design, we wanted to go with something pretty minimal and classic, so chose a two-tiered cake with white florals to match the overall vibe of our wedding. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]We customized our own corn hole set along with the corn hole bags and had a photo booth.

I loved the custom corn hole set we made because it was very minimally designed and it matched our decor because of the logo we added everywhere to tie it all together.

However, I think the guests really enjoyed having a photo booth! It was probably everyone’s favorite part and the photos are hilarious and so fun.[/field]

Bright Colors and Garden Party Style at Ringling Museum of Art

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]I knew I wanted bright colors that would make me smile every time I looked at the girls throughout the day! I spent a lot of time at our venues and the main colors I got were blue and yellow from the Ca’ d’Zan (ceremony space) and green and pink from the Ringling Museum (reception venue). Luckily for me, my bridesmaids fell into trios of how I knew them so the sisters picked yellow, childhood friends were pink, high school friends were green and the college girls blue. This made it easy as each trio was friends with one another so coordination was easy and fun![/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]I grew up with my parents hosting numerous dinner parties in our backyard chaotically thrown together by pulling our local pub’s singer last minute for entertainment, us kids making the floral arrangements from what we could forage outside that day and multi-course meals my parents effortlessly threw together. They were always a beautiful and stylish affair but never too over the top that you couldn’t kick your shoes off and dance on the tables. This was how we wanted our wedding day to feel – so we went full steam ahead on creating an outdoor Tuscan garden dinner party adorned with personal touches relevant to our dear family and friends.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]I thought I was meeting my brother for a sibling park day only to show up, after aggressively biking through the city, to find Garrett under a willow tree along Lake Michigan with his big smile down on one knee. There were plenty of tears quickly turned into laughs as we realized I still had my airpods in the entire proposal. We had a beautiful intimate picnic in the park soon followed by our family running over to celebrate. That evening we headed to our roof for a glass of celebratory wine only to be greeted with a Mexican feast adorned with 20+ of my closest friends who he flew in from around the world to celebrate all weekend!

Once we got engaged, it wasn’t where, it was when!? Both of our families have homes on the tiny 10 mile island of Longboat Key, an extremely small world when one of you is from the midwest and the other the east coast. Once we settled on the location, the venue quickly followed. Between Garrett being a history buff and myself a closet art enthusiast, The Ringling Museum of Art was a natural fit. The architecture transports you right into Italy while the landscaping still honors its Florida roots. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”] Finding a dress was tough, I started in New York then went to DC all to end up finding the dress a half mile from my home in Colorado at Little White Dress. Once I saw the Monique Lhuillier Lily of the Valley lace, a flower that only blooms in May (our wedding month), I knew it was a sign. I wanted a few different looks from the dress so we asked for some extra lace from Monique and made a custom topper for the ceremony to change it up. I also sent in my mom’s wedding dress and had two purses made from her lace for us to carry that day. As for my second dress, I wanted to wear something short and comfortable for dancing. I looked everywhere but kept on seeing the same dresses so I went to Donna Beth Creations a month before the wedding and we squeezed in as many fittings as we possibly could and made a custom dress adorned with 3D pearl flowers and a layered choker necklace to match.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]My bridesmaids-to-be lived all around the US so asking them to partake in the wedding wasn’t easy! I wanted to send them letters to explain how much their friendship means to me but also something to acknowledge the time, money and effort it takes to be a bridesmaid – it had to be something they would treasure but also be able to use. After spending so much time at our beautiful venue, the art inspired me so I decided to create some of my own! I didn’t want to send them art they felt obligated to hang on their wall so I ended up settling on a personal favorite, shoes! I took pictures of the little details at the venue – whether it be the tiles lining the Ca’ d’Zan, the bougainvillea around the courtyard, or the marble floors. From there, I thought about each girl’s style and hand painted white slides inspired from the details at the venue for each girl. This was no easy feat with 13 bridesmaids but in retrospect it was a great way to relax and think about the lucky friendships I cherish during the wedding planning chaos. The girls ended up all wearing their shoes on the dancefloor and it was surreal to see all the designs live at the venue!

There is nothing more calming than getting ready the morning of your wedding in the comfort of your home with your mom, best friends, dogs and a champagne tower! After waking up between my mom and sister like the youngest child I am, the ladies filed in and we started the morning by taking a coffee walk with our labs, Parker and Theo – the only boys allowed in the house that day! After some much needed showers, I gifted the girls white linen cover ups to throw over their bathing suits while they caught some last minute rays by our pool. We took turns between hair and makeup, pool time and bouquet making. Our florist gave us a few extra buckets of Feverfew so the girls could make their own bouquets – this was a nice way to get creative during the downtime! Emotions quickly got the best of me as my mom and sister fitted me into my dress, followed by a heartfelt bridesmaids reveal. They serenaded me with a custom rendition of Faith Hill’s This Kiss before sending me off with my best friend’s mom (aka my second mom) to drive me to the wedding.

When it came to attire, I knew I wanted bright colors that would make me smile every time I looked at the girls throughout the day! This made it easy as each trio was friends with one another so coordination was easy and fun! With the help of an inspo board, the general ask was to feel like themselves, ensure dancefloor comfort and to not hold back – ruffles, cutouts, tiered skirts, bows, unique necklines welcomed and encouraged! The ladies delivered! As each of the colored trios walked down the aisle, there were dropped jaws ending with audible gasps as the three sisters anchored the processional in yellow!

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”] We spent a lot of time on the menu as we knew we wanted to do something non-traditional, delicious and interactive! What’s better than a family style Italian feast!? We had a spicy vodka rigatoni, mushroom ravioli, chicken farfalle, mahi mahi saltimbocca style and grilled Italian vegetables. Our guests loved passing their pastas from neighbor to neighbor as they doused their bread in oil and vinegar. As for dessert, we debated doing a wedding cake but once we visited Cakes by Ron, we knew we had to! We worked very closely with him on rounds of sketches before settling on a green textured four tier cake with dried Italian fruit slices, herbs and flowers wrapped down it. She was a focal point yet blended so well into the organic garden setting! In addition to this we had breadsticks on all the cocktail hour tables (a cost effective fan-favorite), shipped in an Iberico Ham leg for live carving (the one nonnegotiable from my fiancé), chugged espresso martinis as we transitioned from dinner, had freshly baked cookies and cannoli’s passed on the dancefloor, and ended the night dancing with dirty martinis in one hand and Taco Bell’s finest Crunch Wrap Supremes in the other![/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Top of mind when designing the reception space was figuring out the right way to honor the beauty of the Ringling while making it feel comfortable for guests to let loose in the space. In order to do that, we needed 5 long feasting tables to fill the space. We ordered countless BBJ Tavola fabric samples before finding the perfect effortless pattern which ended up being a green and ivory baroque linen with some texture. We paired that with a light wood charger for an organic feel and texture. For the head table, we wanted this to pop so we found vintage farm tables that matched the wooden chargers at the guest tables and paired these with rattan green chargers to then match the linen on the guest tables. It was visually harmonious yet effortless at the same time.

The Ringling courtyard is garnished with giant terracotta pots around the perimeter of the courtyard so we wanted to bring that cohesive design to the tables. We worked with our florist, Victoria Blooms, to source a variety of terracotta pots which she filled with various garden herbs and wildflowers to give a relaxed yet plentiful look. For the head table, we doubled down on the overgrown wild flowers and added some smaller terracotta pots mixed in to tie together the guest tables. For our table numbers, my dad and I found some extra stone from our fireplace at our Longboat Key home so we broke it into pieces then attached cursive table numbers to the stone. I suppose it was our something old and something borrowed!

When it came to escort cards, I wanted them to make a statement but also serve a purpose for guests. I thought long and hard about what that could be and once I envisioned our guests shaking tambourines from the dinner tables to the dancefloor, I knew I had it! Creating the tambourines with the guests names was quite easy – I just needed my sister, some sharpies and a good playlist! The larger challenge was figuring out how to display them as I wanted it to be a statement that also tied into the aesthetic of the venue. We ended up settling on floral arches, ribbon and shower hooks to put it all together then our florists draped vines around it for some color. Based on the noise level, our guests may have had too much fun with these!
[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]As for dessert, we debated doing a wedding cake but once we visited Cakes by Ron, we knew we had to! We worked very closely with him on rounds of sketches before settling on a green textured four tier cake with dried Italian fruit slices, herbs and flowers wrapped down it. [field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Finding a song to dance to was quite the struggle for us – either too cheesy or formal or just unnatural – when are we doing a choreographed waltz out with our friends!? Instead of focusing on the perfect song, we focused on the feeling we wanted for us and our guests – romantic, inclusive and fun! We kept coming back to one of our favorite song, Sonnentanz (Sun Don’t Shine), which had the lyrics but was too upbeat for a first dance. We eventually found a slow cover of the song and from then on, were determined to find a way to mix the songs together so we could have it all! We worked with our band on the concept, None Other Band, and they seamlessly blended the two versions into one so that we could spend the first half having our romantic first dance and the second, surrounded by our friends and family who got us there. The struggle was the transition from slow to fast so when it happened the Saxophonist (our favorite instrument) came out on the dance floor with us and live played as our family and friends flooded in around us. I don’t think anything can ever top this moment for us!!!!

You Won’t Believe This Stateside Lavendar Farm Isn’t Actually in the South of France

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]The inspiration for our day was to make this editorial look like a real wedding day in the south of France. The French lavender fields inspired us and so we played into the lavender farm/garden theme by adding lots of colors, textures and patterns. We even had the attendees dress as wedding guests and they really showed up! [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The colors were lavender, obviously, and also greens and pinks. [/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]The venue, Hope Hill Lavender Farm, is a quaint little family run lavender farm nestled in the hills of central PA. The owners open up their farm every spring/summer for guests to enjoy leading up to the time when the lavender is ready to be hand harvested. The rolling hills behind the rows of lavender made for the most serene setting for this day. Of course we sprinkled bits of lavender into different elements of the day. We served lavender cocktails, the owner, Wendy made us a batch of her delicious lavender lemonade as well as lavender cheesecake which we served our attendees for dessert and our stationer, Letterland Studio even created lavender wax seals for the stationery. We also purchased some lavender items from the farm store and gifted them to our attendees upon arrival. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]The main wedding gown that the bride wore all day was a Justin Alexander strapless soft tulle ball gown with dimensional appliqués. We had a vision of the bride frolicking through fields of lavender with lots of dress to add movement. The dimensional appliqués were the perfect touch for the garden themed wedding and the groom wore a cream tux which complimented the look perfectly. The reception dress was another Justin Alexander dress but more sleek with a beautiful bow to make a statement for the evening. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Party”]There was no wedding party technically, but we had some of our attendees play the part as bridesmaids for some photos since we were all dressed in colorful patterned dresses. [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The florals were created by the incredible Wild Indigo. We had a full aisle of florals leading up to a full arch. The florals were whimsical and soft. Hues of pinks to compliment the lavender behind us. The ceremony space was complete with beautiful cane back chairs from White Glove Rentals and guests stayed cool fanning themselves with paper fans and held parasols to block the sun…but also for aesthetic purposes. Wild Indigo repurposed the aisle florals to create not one, but TWO cake meadows. The cake table was set up in our cocktail hour space which was one of my favorite parts of the day. Nestled in the rows of lavender, our cocktail hour scene was picturesque. Cocktail hour was complete with custom signage from Letterland Studio listing our delicious and REAL cocktails on a linen sign hanging from a beautiful handmade bar from Carolines rentals. We chose the prettiest green patterned linens from Nuage to cover the high top tables as well as the cake table and a pink sofa for our guests to sit and enjoy the cocktails. The cake was designed by the amazing designed by the amazing K Sweet Designs, and after our cake cutting photos, we swapped the cake out for some Vera Wang Party prosecco and had a champagne tower moment. The cake meadow florals were then repurposed and used on the ground in front of the long reception table. We had more florals running across the top of the table and a patterned plate, against a soft blue patterned linen. (You can never have too many colors or patterns) Letterland Studio designed gorgeous menus which we placed on top of the place settings and the paper butterflies were a perfect touch. We finished the evening dining around the beautiful tablescape enjoying a dinner of pasta from The Brickhouse restaurant and had the most beautiful glowy and pink sunset.[/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]My favorite design element was the cake table / champagne tower with the double cake meadows. It really was a show stopper. I also loved the topless vintage car. It was this cute little cream, vintage Datsun, from Michaels Motor Cars and the bride and groom looked incredible in this car as it sat against the rows of lavender. [/field]

This Whimsical White Wedding Under The Stars Is Filled With Chic Details

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

White shades with touches of neutrals focusing on monotone and romantic vibes.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Suher with Forever Refined Events created a whimsical white wedding under the stars. The bride and groom really wanted a wedding design that reflected their love story. Romantic, classic, elegant and everlasting. Our bride Grace loves flowers and wanted to feel as if she was in a whimsical fantasy. Suher worked with the florist with To Be Designed to start the whimsical fantasy during ceremony as they focused on the main tree full of white flowers that felt like they grew from the ground up to the tree trunk. The reception area also had while florals everywhere that went perfectly together with the twinkle light open tent design.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Grace had planned to go to New York during spring time with her maid of honor and her sister. Alex (the groom) and the bride’s brother came so it became a little family/friend trip. Alex told her maid of honor he wanted to propose in New York.

So they only went for 4 days and on the fourth day they went to Central Park and started walking around and Grace noticed everyone else disappeared and they ended up in front of the little lake when he proposed. Grace didn’t really expect it but she thought it was so cool. She loved that he proposed at the park because it is somewhere that is always going to be there and a place they can visit forever.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Grace found her perfect dress at NEWHITE. As soon as Grace put on her dress, she fell in love with it. It naturally flowed and made her feel special. She had never seen herself in a gown or something big. Rather the intricate details really gave her a unique and timeless feel. She did cry when I tried it and knew it was the one. The accessories were very important to Grace. The earrings and the gloves, she felt so special and beautiful in her unique look. When it came time to lip and nail color iIt was red all the way. A reminder that being bold when needed is always important.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

The bride really wanted the bridesmaids to pick styles that suited their bodies and she knew the cliche of “you can totally wear that dress again” but seriously though, you “totally” can! She guided her bridesmaids to SHow Me Your Mumu to choose their style. The color needed to be neutral and classic, so they all went with the same color even though they had different dresses.. A color that has been worn before and will always be a classic tone to choose.

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

The groom found this attire at Mens warehouse. They wanted Alex to look sharp and dapper. The groom wore a classic black tux, and staying true to his natural curls was important to both Alex and Grace. He wore that tux with so much style and strength. It was perfect!

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe is known for their great food and the bride and groom loved how accommodating they were. It is true to say that the steak and seafood options were the perfect foodie experience for their guests.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]This was the big one. Our bride LOVED flowers and finer details. We made sure to keep her monotone neutral colors throughout the entire wedding. We chose delicate reflux’s flowers and created an aisle full of bloom blocked flowers. The best part was THAT TREE. We loved how TBD created a vision of White flowers that seemed like they grew from the ground up amongst the tree trunk. It was a sight for sore eyes.
There was a neutral floral print that adorned our stationery and napkins at reception. This gave us a little texture and added the perfect amount of non monotonous vibes that was needed to make our couples vision come to life.
[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”] Grace and Alex wanted a traditional wedding cake, rather than the popular dessert table style. As their designer/planner, Suher suggested they go big. They chose to go with a 4 tier cake full of whimsical flowers. Each layer of the cake was a different flavor, with the top blueberry hazelnut flavor being the couple’s favorite cake.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

For the ceremony the bride and groom chose to have Chiara Capobianco, a harpist play while everyone walked down the aisle. For the bride’s big entrance and walk down the aisle she had an award winning opera tenor, that happened to be her cousin Anthony Leon. During cocktail hour there was live music from Joseph Durant Music for everyone to enjoy!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The couple chose to have a private first look in the garden of the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. Where they first saw each other for the first time and spent some moments together before the fun of their wedding day began.[/field]

A Pastel Bridgerton-Inspired Wedding At Brooklyn Botanic Gardens

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The colors were blues, purples and pinks.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

We got engaged around the time Bridgerton came out on Netflix, and I fell in love with the aesthetics. Inspired by the show, I incorporated different pastel colors into the wedding, especially in the flowers, which were filled with blues, purples and pinks. The wedding was at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, so this color palette made the Palm House feel vibrant and fresh, especially on an August summer evening. The vibe was English garden party meets New York City. To complement the color palette, the bridesmaids wore pastel pink satin gowns from Fame And Partners, matching the Black Tie optional attire.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]We met on the dating app, Bumble. He had his favorite musicians displayed on his profile. John Mayer being one of them, so we instantly bonded over that. After exchanging a few messages, we quickly planned to meet at a wine bar in the West Village. Upon first meeting, I fell on my face getting out of my Uber, and we shared a good laugh. The rest was history.

After dating for three years, we got engaged in Tulum, Mexico. Dan popped the question the first day on the beach, and then we spent the rest of the trip celebrating with tacos and margaritas.

The dress I chose was the very first dress I looked at and tried on. It was a Berta Privee gown that was complete with floral appliques and feathers. I had never seen a dress like it before and loved how romantic, fun and unique it was. I ended up incorporating feathers into most of my bridal looks, including my after party dress, my getting ready pajamas and my bachelorette dress. Everything looks better with feathers.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Some of my favorite hor d’oeuvres included mini lobster rolls, oyster and crab cakes. The meal started with Prosciutto San Daniele, a garden salad, and then a choice of organic chicken, filet mignon or halibut. And, pizza for a late night snack. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

We fell in love with the Palm House at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and how it felt like you were in a glass bubble in the middle of acres of greenery and flowers. We loved how guests would be surrounded by nature and beautiful scenery, but would still get to experience the place we called home—New York City. The ceremony was at the Cherry Esplanade, a broad green lawn surrounded by tall, oak trees. I couldn’t imagine a more special place. My flowers were filled with blues, purples and pinks- beautifully designed by Yellow Bow Florals.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Our cake was vanilla chocolate mousse flavor and was the menu highlight if you ask me. I loved it so much that I spoon fed it to my closest friends and family members after trying it. [Karina Mekel, our photographer, has proof of this!] I had the leftovers of it the very next day on the way to the airport to our honeymoon.

I loved our custom cake topper with us and Charlie. It’s a really fun keepsake that we’ll have forever in our home.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]A few nights before the wedding, we were finalizing some last minute details with our band leader, Artie, and I told him how much I loved the song, Shallow by Lady Gaga. He ended up putting together an epic remix featuring a sax prologue and played it as we entered the reception for the first time as husband and wife. He played the song a few more times throughout the night, and I may have stolen the mic for a few times to sing it.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]My after party dress, that was complete with sequins and feathers! Changing into the second dress made for such a fun moment, and some of my favorite photos from the night. While I was getting changed into the second dress, Amy (my coordinator) asked if we should make it a moment. She ended up playing “Dancing Queen by Abba” as I entered in with my second dress. It was so fun. [/field]

Whimsical Style and Happy Hues at This Beaufort Inn Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Deep pink, bright pink, yellows, sage green, olive green, cream, white, and pops of deep blue and purple were selected as the primary colors of Lindsey & Ian’s Beaufort wedding color palette. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Inspired by the lush natural surroundings of the Lowcountry of South Carolina and the couple’s love for bright, whimsical color, this Beaufort Inn garden party wedding was all things joyful and botanical! The bride, Lindsey, working with the team at Hamilton Events, brought to life a wedding weekend vision filled with romantic garden-inspired elements, pops of bold colors, patterned Stradley Davidson and BBJ La Tavola linens, and a hint of Lowcountry oysters to top it all off. Guests were invited to their Beaufort Inn wedding weekend with a playful, custom-illustrated invitation ‘map’ by artist Virginia Brown, featuring their venues, pets, boat, and their favorite spots around downtown Beaufort. The jacquard fabric of Lindsey’s Anne Barge wedding dress was used as the inspiration for much of their upscale garden reception design. The delicate botanical motif of the fabric was woven into their linens, florals, and custom wedding cake fondant overlay. In an ode to the vibrant pink of The Beaufort Inn’s exterior, Lindsey worked with the design team at Sylvania Florist to concoct a floral design filled with bright blooms and lush Lowcountry greenery and mosses. Hints of bright pinks, blues, marigold, sage, and purples were gently woven into their wedding’s design, from bouquets, to reception tent compotes, to patterned linens, and all the way down to their customized drink coozies, there was no shortage of vibrant color for their South Carolina wedding day! The bride desired to create a reception space that encouraged their guests to mingle, creating an organic flow throughout the nooks and crannies that the property had to offer. Ivory market umbrellas and standing pub tables in the tabby garden and courtyard of The Beaufort Inn were used to produce a gathering effect for guests to enjoy. Staying true to their South Carolina roots, Lindsey and Ian had crafted a custom-made bar made of oyster shells, and integrated local Spanish moss in their stunning potted floral tent entryway. Guests were seated in bamboo chairs under a draped white tent filled with sage green taper candles and colorful compotes. As the sun set over Beaufort’s waterfront, the couple & their guests made their way to the open-air dance floor to boogie away to classic songs, played by the local Hilton Head band The Nice Guys, whose stage setup featured a climbing jasmine garden arch to frame their 4-piece band. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the Bride, “I met Ian in June 2015 at The Village Idiot Pizza in Columbia, SC. I’d been home back in South Carolina for a few months after graduating from Villanova University, and it was Ian’s very first night in Columbia after five years of serving in the Marine Corps, stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. We were both starting at the University of South Carolina for our next chapter. I just happened to be out in Columbia that night for trivia with one of my dearest friends, who is now my Maid of Honor. She’d met a guy (now, our Best Man!) and they’d gone on one date together, so she decided to invite him to join us out for trivia that evening. He all but dragged a very, very reluctant Ian out for the night, and I’m so thankful he did. Six years, a mortgage, three cats, and a dog later, we got engaged on December 29, 2021 at Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis on a chilly -16 F day while in town visiting with Ian’s family!”[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]From the Bride, “I’ve always had my heart set on an A-line skirt for my wedding dress, and so I prioritized looking at designers who felt both classic and contemporary to me. There were three designers I especially liked, including Anne Barge. But once I saw the jacquard fabric on the Coraline style from Annie Barge and tried it on, I absolutely knew it was the one. The square neckline and front-slit skirt with pockets were the modern touches that sealed the deal. My mother equally fell in love with the jacquard fabric of my dress, and found a ball gown in navy silk jacquard for her dress that day. It was so special to have her dress be a subtle nod to my wedding dress and our overall floral-filled theme!”[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]From the Bride, “I adored the iconic pink exterior paint of The Beaufort Inn, and initially, wanted to really lean into the venue’s hue with our theming and color scheme. I was originally set on being bold and having statement linens in bright floral pinks, but I ended up changing my mind during the design process, and decided to find a complimentary green and tan patterned linen instead to help highlight the bright florals we chose for the floral design. So to still keep my bold pinks as part of our overall design, I had each bridesmaid choose their dress from a large selection I compiled of bright pinks and florals. My bridesmaids chose distinct, floor length gowns from Kay Unger, The Dessy Group, Show Me Your Mumu, and Birdy Grey that let each of their personalities shine through while leaning into our overall botanical aesthetic.”[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]From the Bride, “Ian’s step-sister had selected a similar tuxedo from the same Vera Wang Black line for her wedding, and we loved them so much we knew this was the designer to go with! Ian had wanted to stick with a traditional tuxedo for his side of the wedding party, as he’s always liked the traditional black tuxedo look.”[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]From the Bride, “In keeping with our design of creating spaces for our guests to mingle in, we started out the food service with a charcuterie table spread by the ladies at Corks on The Vine for cocktail hour in the courtyard of The Beaufort Inn. For drinks, we really wanted to serve both food & drink from local South Carolina vendors. Providing a variety of drinks was one of my top priorities to cater to all our guests. We absolutely love craft beer, especially on draft, and often find ourselves at a local brewery on weekends with friends. I went on a hunt for ways to serve draft beer, and stumbled across the Chug-a-Lug Wagon. Their ‘Chuglette’ cart was so fun – we couldn’t pass up on having a unique bar setup! In addition to providing a local Charleston Westbrook White Thai on draft, the Chug-a-Lug team served our two signature cocktails on tap – a Peach Julep for Ian, and a Tropical Margarita for me! For the main dinner service, we brought in Shealy’s BBQ from my hometown of Batesburg-Leesville, SC. Shealy’s was a childhood staple for me growing up. It’s well-known throughout the Southeast, and with so many guests coming from Wisconsin and Minnesota on Ian’s side of the family, we wanted to provide a true South Carolina dinner.” [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]From the Bride, “From the very start of designing our wedding weekend, we wanted to create a floral design that was whimsical, botanical, and overflowing. We worked with Sylvania Florist out of Savannah, and she brought to life this exact vision. For our main reception tent, Sylvania created a stunning entryway welcome on the front side of the tent. They brought in various sized blooming potted flowers to welcome guests, and wove locally harvested Spanish moss into the pots and blooms to tie in our Lowcountry theming. We had vibrant florals throughout the main reception spaces, mixing tall and low centerpieces with eclectic votives and bud vases. I knew I wanted to be bold and bright with the bouquets for myself and my bridesmaids, and Sylvania certainly delivered! My bridal bouquet was filled with bright pink roses, marigold-colored ranunculus, blush garden roses, purple snapdragon, whimsical light pink campanulas, and large white and yellow peony blooms. For the bridesmaids’ bouquets, we chose purple, pink, and yellow snapdragon and campanulas to subtly complement the pink Beaufort Inn theming.”[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]From the Bride, “The talented Ashley Brown Cake Design made us a gorgeous three-tiered wedding cake to share, in addition to a customized groom’s cake made to match Ian’s boat. The exterior of the cake was covered in an ivory white fondant and etched with a similar floral motif that was found in the jacquard fabric of my Anne Barge wedding dress. We wanted to pull a little color into the cake as well, so Ashley was able to craft fondant flowers that played off the yellow, creamsicle, and pink color scheme of our reception blooms! We couldn’t narrow it down to just one cake flavor, so Ashley was able to make both carrot cake and hummingbird cake for our wedding cake interior with vanilla buttercream frosting. We make hummingbird cake each year for my birthday, so it was an easy choice to include it in our wedding.” [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]From the Bride, “Ian and I are fans of 1970-80’s rock and it was so hard to choose just one song for our first dance. We kept changing our minds, and still hadn’t chosen a song for our first dance two months before our weddings. On the drive to Beaufort for one of our last planning walk-throughs, “Everywhere” by Fleetwood Mac came on the radio, and we knew immediately we had our song. We picked every song played for cocktail hour and the reception, choosing Yacht Rock and ‘90s summer hits with wedding crowd pleasers sprinkled in. All of our parents love live music, so it was fun to see how tickled they were with the live music from The Nice Guys Band out of Hilton Head! My mom loves the song “Sugar, Sugar” by the Archies and it was played on repeat in the kitchen growing up, so it was an easy choice for our cake-cutting song.”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]From the Bride, “Ian spent five years stationed in Beaufort during his time in the Marine Corps, so it’s always held a very special place in his heart. We knew we wanted to get married in South Carolina, and the Lowcountry seemed like it would be so much fun for our guests, especially for Ian’s family and friends from Wisconsin and Minnesota. One of our biggest hopes out of our wedding weekend was to spend the day after our wedding hanging out with our guests and family. Once we realized how easy it would be to have everyone join us for a boat day from the Beaufort Inn and nearby marina, we knew Beaufort was the perfect place for our celebration!”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]From the Bride, “When we were designing our wedding with Hamilton Events, I envisioned an upscale, Lowcountry backyard garden party for our reception spaces. I loved the idea of subtly incorporating oysters into the decor as a nod to the southern coastline we were on. I had my heart set on an oyster bar after seeing one featured online, but could not find one after searching high and low. Ian’s step-dad has an unbelievable talent for building anything you can dream up, and kindly heard me out when I described my idea for an oyster bar. Not only did he build the oyster-covered bar, but he even handpainted the extra shells for our guest’s gift bags!”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]From the Bride, “Ever since watching the movie Steel Magnolias, I’ve been obsessed with having an over-the-top Groom’s Cake, and was blown away by the talented Ashley Brown Cake Design. Our Save the Date design featured a hand-illustrated map of Beaufort with our boat and pets included, so replicating that idea in cake-form was too good to be true. I wanted to surprise Ian with his groom’s cake design, and he was so excited to see some of his favorite things included on the cake boat, including our sweet pets. That very same boat we had left parked in the Marina just a few blocks from The Beaufort Inn, and we were able to sneak down there to take a few golden hour portraits on the docks and on our boat before our wedding reception really kicked into full gear!”[/field]

How To Use Social Media Wisely When Designing Your Wedding Florals

If you don’t have much experience with flowers, finding your floral style can feel intimidating. The good news? There’s no need to become a student of flowers or to start from scratch. In fact, most fine art designers are more interested in interpreting you and the personal style you have already cultivated. As you look for floral inspiration, look to the styles and spaces you already love. Today we’re breaking down the different places to find the best inspo for your bloom-board, with a few tips on how to peruse wisely and with intention along the way.

“Spend some time looking at your own house, your wardrobe, the things you enjoy doing, what attracts you on a daily basis…your style is already there.”

– Eliana Nunes, Eliana Nunes Floral and Event Design

Natural Landscapes

Natural landscapes are another powerful source for inspiration. Maybe you find peace and joy in a coastline covered in seashells, an olive grove, or a countryside walk meandering through forest and river. Perhaps you’re getting married in a lush garden and want to evoke a similar look. Whatever it may be, use those landscapes as inspiration, and allow your floral designer to channel that mood through nature-driven, elevated designs.

Look to Style Me Pretty

LBH,  looking for inspiration in the wedding world can be overwhelming. The options are seemingly endless—there is so much talent and so many creative ideas to behold. But, we can help you break it down! While you’ll find no shortage of beautiful content on here, you can easily narrow your search by color palette, season or style. Even more, you can see the portfolios of our trusted and talented Little Black Book members, who’ve been hand selected for their skill, professionalism, and reputation among peers!

Use Social Media…Wisely

Most floral designers prefer a creative process that transcends social media, but none of us can avoid its influence. And in all reality, social media can introduce you to some of the most stunning floral talent and floral creativity. The key is to embrace social with just a little savvy, and create strategies that save yourself from nights of endless scrolling!

For example, some Instagram users have created floral feeds so exquisite that they rival the pages of any high fashion magazine. The hashtag #underthefloralspell (which belongs to the eponymous account) is the crème de la crème of floral inspiration accounts, elevated by Kiana Underwood’s eye for romantic flowers. If you want to use Instagram as a kind of search engine, use simple and clear hashtags: #floraldesign, #florist, #floralinspo, #weddingflowers, and #florallove to  point you to any number of talented artists. The eco-friendly bride will love the #slowflowers movement, which connects brides with domestic flower farms and the artists who design with sustainably-grown flowers. And less-used, but beloved among the floral set: #stylingtheseasons, #respectnature, #flowersandotherstories, #myfloraldays, #slowfloralstyle, #thefloralseasons, and #savourtheseasonalshift. This group will link you to a romantic, slow, and often very British style of floristry.

Pin With Intention

When using Pinterest, you’ll want to set some boundaries for yourself, so that you don’t fall down a rabbit hole of confusing and conflicting content. Use it as a tool to find a general mood or feeling, but don’t try to pinpoint exact ideas you’re hoping a vendor can replicate. Vendors – and especially floral phenoms – pride themselves on originality, creative interpretation of trends, and an incredible ability and willingness to collaborate with their clients, so pigeon-holing them into already popular and previously-piloted designs (and thus removing their inventiveness and imaginative edge) can be a real challenge and deterrent to beautiful work to unfold, or blossom so to speak.

Photo by Whiskers and Willow Photography, LBB | Florals by Plenty of Petals

“Creating an exact match to a Pinterest image is impossible, yet there is so much pretty in the differences. I love it when brides understand that the entire aesthetic is what’s important rather than over emphasizing a specific bloom.”

– Christy, Colonial House of Flowers

You may even consider staying off Pinterest all together. One of the most persistent things we hear from fine art florists is a desire for couples to look beyond the screen for inspiration.

“Get off of Pinterest and look outside of the wedding world for inspiration! If you love the outdoors, go for a hike, or a walk on the beach and pay attention to what you find beautiful about the experience.  If you love art, walk through your favorite galleries and spend extra time before the pieces you love, and see what ideas come to mind!”

– Amy, Gather Design Co.

Wherever you choose to look, at the end of the day, the mood and tone of the inspiration should feel like you and your partner, not someone else. Find things with meaning to you, and the rest will follow.

This Beautiful Blush And White Wedding On Lake Como Is Not To Be Missed

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The colors for the wedding were white and blush pinks.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

As the owner of Velvet Victoria Home a homeware brand I have a very Meditterraian ascetic. This was always going to come through in the vision for the wedding and one of the reasons why we fell in love with Italy in the first place. I love bespoke and attention to detail items/moments. I wanted to create a romantic traditional Italian wedding full of little surprises for the guests. I wanted there to be bespoke details wherever you looked so that the guests felt like they were experiencing something completely unique and special. I wanted it to feel authenticity Italian and also luxurious. Every detail was to be thought out and considered. From the moment you arrived you would be drinking and eating the best. Every glass of champagne was considered and every canape tested. The best that Italy had to offer to experience in the middle of Lake Como with family and friends. The experience was to be like a movie, seamlessly moving from scene to scene and each different from the last. The venue was perfect because it was not shared and was completely exclusive. It was also a beautiful blank canvas that you can make your own. We knew the first time we visited Villa Del Balbianello that this is where we would get married. The view, the height, the gardens and the size are all perfect for our vision.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

My husband Jack who I met when i was 18 at University proposed to me in Paris on my birthday the 4th October in 2017. We stayed in the Ritz which had just re-opened after years of renovations so there was a fabulous buzz around the hotel and flurry of famous faces dotting about. On the evening of the proposal a car was waiting outside of the hotel ready to take us to dinner. On our way out Lionel Richie was standing outside the hotel and Jack looked at him and said good evening Lionel and Lionel looked at us both and said have a lovely evening kids. It was a moment which I wouldn’t forget because of how the evening unfolded. Jack had booked Cafe Marly for dinner which is a small candle lit restaurant which sits in the arcades in the Louvre and looks directly over it. We sipped champagne and spoke about the old master pieces sitting only a few feet away and how art is everlasting. After dinner the blacked out mercedes pulled up along side the restaurant and Jack said hop in. Inside waiting for us were macarons from my favorite shop in Paris and a bottle of my favorite champagne. Jack looked at me giving nothing away and said i am taking you to see the Eiffel tower lights as we have never done it before and i know you will love it. We arrived at the Pont de Bir-Hakeim bridge, a local gem, no tourists at all which is so rare for Paris in the evening and the Eiffel tower felt so close that we could touch it. The car mounted the pavement and we hopped out. We stood at the edge of the bridge and awaited the lights. It was magical, we counted down and the Eiffel tower lit up like a huge twinkly Christmas tree, it showered us in light and we had a little dance on the bridge with jack whispering our favorite song in my ear. He said let me grab some champagne from the car “you keep looking at the lights.” Then i heard him say my name and i turned around and he was down on one knee. Everything after this was a complete blur, i was so happy and of course the answer was yes. Like out of a movie he picked me up and spun me around, at this moment i realized that someone was taking photos. Jack had arranged a french photographer to take discrete photos of the whole evening so we can remember it forever. Later after driving round Paris taking in the moonlight, drinking champagne and listening to french music he told me how relieved he was as he had been hiding my ring in his sock on the plane and in the hotel this whole time.

The gown was completely custom-made for me by a private Scottish dressmaker using Italian lace. I fell in love with the Vera Wang dress in the movie Bride Wars when i was a teenager and always knew that I wanted that style of dress. I did go to Vera Wang in London and I tried on that exact dress along with others and although it was a close call ultimately i didnt feel that it was right for the Italian setting of the wedding so i set out to create my Italian vision of the dress that I adored so much as a child. We kept the same style but made the whole dress from Italian lace. We also made the belt out of silk and created a larger central bow. The veil was a custom two tiered Royal length masterpiece. It was trimmed with the same lace as the dress and created the Italian feeling i was looking for. My headpiece was by Maria Elena. My shoes were Manolo Blahnik, hangisi white satin with light blue crystals. My husband has bought me a pair of Manolos every year on my birthday since we have been together so it was only fitting.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]We wanted the food to be authenticity Italian and we also wanted our guests to be full throughout the day in true Italian style. On arrival guests were greeted by the groom with Rose Moet and italian canapes. These included buratta and sun dried tomatoes on a parmigiana crisp and mozzarella on a lemon leaf. The aperitivo after the ceremony was created with all the food we love from italy in mind. Fresh ham, cheese, olives, olive oil, bread, meats, pasta etc so that our guests could mingle and nibble at their leisure. The drinks menu for the aperitivo was a choice of our favorite italian cocktails, Aperol Spritz, Rose Moet and Hugo. Whilst they ate and mingled the hum of the string quartet played in the background creating such beautiful moments. For dinner we opted for local white and red italian wines with Dom Pergignon for the toasts. The food which followed included burrata stuffed tomato ravioli to start (which was so good our guests opted for steaming hot seconds), scallop risotto and truffle beef to follow. The cake for desert which was a special and whilst being cut received a royal operatic performance by three tenors singing our favorite italian songs. During an evening of dancing a gelato cart arrived along with italian treats such as cannolis and millefeuille. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]I wanted the wedding ceremony to be traditional and completely white using high delphiniums, garden roses, sweet peas all in white. To let the view of the lake and the green of the location do the talking. The aperitif and dinner flowers were a mixture of the pink and white colours to romanticize the experience with pink candles. We also had floral garland hanging from the guests chairs at the ceremony and at the dinner table.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Marchesi a famous Italian patisserie institution in Milan designed and created our eight tier wedding cake. It was filled with vanilla spounge, fresh strawberries and Chantilly cream. Hand painted on the outside with our wedding crest and designed over six months with me. Marchesi also created our wedding favors for our guests in the form of traditional Italian wedding sweets presented in a little pink box.

Our wedding crest was created by Momental Designs in the USA and was used throughout the wedding. They painstakingly hand painted every stationary aspect of the wedding including invitations, service booklets, welcome sign, menus, drinks menus, name cards, dance floor, bar menu, table names, fans and the seating chart. Our napkins were hand embroidered in the UK, our dinner ribbons were hand embroidered with each of the guests initials in the UK, our candles were hand poured with our wedding rose scent in the UK by the same creators as Jo Malone. Our champagne was Rose Moet and Dom Perignon flown in from France and Macallan whisky from Scotland.

The grooms wedding tuxedo was Tom Ford. His wedding jacket is made from ivory silk with the silk trim running down his trousers. Mother-of-pearl buttons on his wedding shirt and a black bow tie. His shoes were black velvet Manolo Blahnik wedding shoes to match mine.

Wedding bands:

Grooms- Tiffany and Co platinum band.

A Classic All-White Affair at Villa Regina Teodolinda

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]All white[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

As I mentioned, our relationship was built on traditions. We love the classics. We wanted our wedding to represent our love – traditional, classic and intimate. A white rose, a black tuxedo, a romantic, flowy dress. For us, it’s quality over quantity which is why only our closest of friends and family were in attendance on our big day. The elegance of Villa Regina Teodolinda is classic Italy and it just felt so right!

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Joe and I value tradition. On our second date we did a Christmas scavenger hunt where made a list of ten Christmas activities to do just three days before Christmas. Every year we’ve continued the tradition so it only seemed fitting that Joe proposed with a scavenger hunt to the airport. From there we landed in California and headed to Napa Valley for a weekend getaway. Joe arranged a private tour at The Napa Valley Reserve, a vineyard in which his family belongs. At the end of the tour Joe got down on one knee and asked me to marry him with beautiful wine barrels and lit candles framing the grand entrance with “The Napa Valley Reserve” overhead.

A Coastal Tented Wedding in Blue, White, and Rattan at the Crystal Coast

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were powder blue and white.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Gracie and Andrew’s summertime waterfront tented wedding was designed in a palette of powder blue and white with organic greenery touches, elegant nods to the coast with rattan accents and woven textures, statement rattan chandeliers & lush floral installations to highlight the waterfront tent, personalized details and timeless elements with an understated elegance and coastal charm, and was classic, chic, and romantic yet polished, fresh, and fun. Gracie and Andrew wanted their wedding day to have a focus on faith, celebration, gathering, and heartfelt hospitality as they celebrated their love and their new marriage with their beloved families and friends. There’s nothing like the magic of a white tent gracing such a pristine waterfront setting — and the unbelievably gorgeous flowers & centerpieces, the duogram-wrapped dance floor moment with a massive rattan chandelier and floral installation overtop, the oval bar statement moment with the bar decals and focal florals and blue glassware on the white shelves, the exquisite linens (one of which matched Gracie’s wedding dress), the rattan chandeliers and market lights and romantic tent liner, the gorgeous lounges, and all of the wedding signage and the details. It was exquisite, unique, unendingly fun, and so deeply meaningful, all in one. Gracie and Andrew’s wedding was magical & intentional, coastal & elevated, inviting & refined, fresh & memorable, and filled with the most heartfelt, beautiful, meaningful details and design. Their faith, their love, and their joy shone through at every turn.[/field]

Gracie wore a stunning strapless sweetheart neckline floral Sareh Nouri gown from Gilded Bridal. The floral applique dress was perfect for a summertime coastal wedding, and the bride added a romantic floral-edged cathedral length veil, powder blue Loeffler Randall heels, and wore family heirloom jewelry. Gracie also changed into a white Farm Rio flower dress for the later part of their reception, and for their private last dance and getaway, she changed into a white sequin dress. For the bride’s bouquet, she carried a bouquet filled with her favorite all-white flowers, including white orchids, and dark greenery accents.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

Gracie’s bridesmaids wore ice blueSachin And Babi one-shouldered gowns that perfectly tied into the flowers and design of the wedding day. The gowns had a statement collapsed bow on one shoulder, and the bridesmaids wore white floral earrings and party ponytails to complete their look. The bridesmaids carried bouquets similar to the bride’s with white blooms, dark greenery, and soft touches of blue, all tied with a powder blue silk ribbon. In addition to Gracie’s bridesmaids, she also had honorary bridesmaids who were a complementary blue & white floral gown of their choosing. The honorary bridesmaids carried all-white flower-blocked bouquets. Blue, white, and florals were a common thread of the entire day and wedding design, and all of the fashion came together so exquisitely.

The groom wore a dapper tuxedo with a white dinner jacket to set him apart, while his groomsmen wore elegant black tuxedos to complement Andrew. Full of Southern elegance, the groom’s white dinner jacket was a handsome selection for their coastal summertime setting and the elegance of the wedding. Boutonnières included white blooms and dark greenery and were tied with a powder blue silk ribbon.

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]The food and drinks were especially important to the families, and not only did they want delicious food, but they also wanted fun and unique food offerings for their guests! Common to tented weddings at the coast, Gracie and Andrew’s reception was mix & mingle style with simultaneous stations and dancing all evening long. A standard seated and plated reception did not fit this lively and fun wedding! As their guests walked from the ceremony to cocktail hour, waiters greeted them with passed signature cocktails: blackberry mojitos (the bride’s favorite) and whiskey gingers (the groom’s favorite). In addition to a full bar with ample offerings, the bride and groom also had a tiered champagne display awaiting guests, with flutes of champagne from the bride’s cousin’s family vineyard in Germany. Passed hors d’oeuvres greeted guests at cocktail hour and included fish tacos (served in limes), crab and avocado toast with pickled onion, ham and pimento cheese biscuits, watermelon, mint, & feta bites, chicken & waffles, and artisan cheese and fresh fruit. For the stations during their reception, there was a trio of salads (kale, blueberry, & goat cheese, a Southern BLT salad, and a peach panzanella salad), shrimp & grits, grilled summer vegetables with lemon, mac & cheese bar with all the toppings, and a carving station with sides. And, of course, no party is complete without late night snacks! During the dancing, milkshake shooters, donut holes, cones of french fries, and chicken tenders were served, along with a surprise for the groom: his favorite sauces from a local BBQ restaurant back home. With creative displays, a fun service style, and a delicious seafood & Southern-food focused menu, guests ate and drank well all night long.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

When building a reception tent from the ground up, you can really do anything with the design and creative direction of the tent! The waterfront tent setting was an idyllic backdrop, and a white tent was the only way to go in the heat of June at the coast. The lawn was pristine and expansive, and we added a romantic white liner to the tent ceiling, draping on the poles, and then went to work creating the most beautiful, thoughtful, and fresh design inside the tent with ample space for movement of their 350 guests, along with the focal dance floor and the focal bar. The dance floor included a custom duogram wrap, a statement 13′ greenery and floral chandelier overtop, and rattan and woven chandeliers to frame the dance floor. The stagefront was adorned with flowers, the stage backdrop included boxwood walls, and the band was electric all night long with an utterly packed dance floor! Several lounges flanked the dance floor in the perfect palette, along with a mix of high top wood tables, cocktail tables, bistro tables, longer tables with a lush runner of hydrangeas, the most beautiful blue and white linens, romantic candlelight, and stunning floral centerpieces and bud vases. The weather was gorgeous on their wedding day, and we utilized the surrounding waterfront lawn and veranda for additional seating. The focal oval bar in the tent was grand and beautiful with statement tall floral arrangements in each corner, rattan chandeliers and a chandelier of greenery adorning the space above the bar, white shelves with blue glassware to tie in the blue palette, powder blue and white floral decals for the bar fronts, powder blue signage in rattan frames, custom cocktail napkins and drink stirrers, and all the fresh and fun design elements at the bar. At the ceremony site, which overlooked the sound, there was a grand floral arch to frame the bride and groom. Towering almost ten feet tall and filled with lush white and blue flowers, it accentuated the ceremony site so beautifully. White chiavari chairs stood out against the waterfront backdrop, 34 aisle flowers framed the ceremony aisle, two towering urns graced the back of the chairs, and the heron and boats that went by were so picturesque.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The grand five tier wedding cake was quite the showstopper inside the tent! The cake was designed to match the bride’s gown with the floral appliques, and there were some exquisite 3D flowers that popped out of the cake, as well. The cake perched atop the statement blue and white patterned linen with a lush meadow of flowers surrounding the base of the cake to make it pop beautifully. The bride and groom cut into their wedding cake with the bride’s parents’ heirloom silver cake knife and server, and they served wedding cake in vanilla cake with lemon curd, marble cake with chocolate ganache, and almond cake with almond buttercream. It was as delicious as it was beautiful, and the grand cake and cake table were one of the first things the guests saw as they entered the reception tent.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The entire focus of Gracie and Andrew’s wedding day was truly about their ceremony, their vows and marriage, their faith, and celebrating all of this with their treasured family and friends. As much fun as we had designing the tent and bringing the gorgeous details and design together, the emphasis was on their marriage and this holy celebration. And what a joyous celebration it was! Gracie and Andrew are adored by their families and friends, and you could feel the pure joy, celebration, excitement, and love from everyone. They had their pastor from their church marry them, which was so special and touching. 53 people walked down the aisle, which is such a testament to how loved these two are! The weather was picture perfect and not too hot, especially for a June day at the coast, and their ceremony was so special and so meaningful. A string quartet played a mix of traditional wedding music and their favorite hymns. Processional songs included Ode to Joy and Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, and the bride walked down the aisle with her father to Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, with the string quartet accompanied by a trumpet. There wasn’t a dry eye as Gracie joyfully walked down the aisle, especially seeing Andrew’s emotional reaction to his beautiful bride. What a moment! During the ceremony, the groom’s father read Colossians 3:12-17 and a dear friend of the bride read 1 John 4:7-21. Guests were invited to join in singing a congregational hymn, Be Thou My Vision, lead by the worship team from Gracie and Andrew’s church. As Gracie’s cathedral length veiled gracefully billowed in the wind, as the heron and seagulls flew by, and as small boats sailed by in the background, Gracie and Andrew said their vows to one another, sealed it with the sweetest kiss, and joyfully walked down the aisle – with a kiss and a dip! – as newlyweds![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Atlantic Beach/Pine Knoll Shores is a very special place to the bride’s family, in particular! Her father has had a family beach house for many decades, and the family just finished building a beach home right next door to the older home. Their new beach house was designed by the grandmother of the bride and the mother of the bride, and it was the most beautiful, special, and perfect spot for a Thursday night backyard BBQ before the wedding, where the parents, bride, and bridesmaids stayed all week long, where the bride and bridesmaids got ready on the wedding morning, and where many of the special early moments of the wedding day unfolded. Hair and makeup, spontaneous dance parties, and sweet moments together all took place at the family beach house, and then Gracie put on her wedding dress with her mom, did a fabulous bridesmaid reveal at the house, took some photos with her bridesmaids, and did a first look with her dad there. What precious memories to have in your home! It was so convenient – and so fun! – that the beach house was so close to the wedding venue and such a picturesque and gorgeous setting for so many anticipated moments. Since the family has a house at the coast, it made it easy to bring her dad’s beloved vintage dark green truck to the wedding venue! We adorned the vintage getaway car with lush white flowers and greenery, and what a beautiful statement that getaway car made. Gracie and Andrew had a few moments to enjoy it privately during their wedding, and it whisked them off at the end of the reception, as well.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Tent reveals are one of the best and most anticipated moments of a wedding day for both the bride and the wedding planner! Because of the timing of the day and since they opted to wait til the aisle to see each other, we decided to do a tent reveal with the bride, mother of the bride, & all of Gracie’s bridesmaids! Getting to unveil Gracie & Andrew’s reception tent to the ladies was an unforgettable moment and pure joy for all of us — and such a dream come true after countless hours of planning and design every detail, logistic, and design element! Plus, it’s always a good day when spontaneous dancing with the bride and her bridesmaids takes place during the tent reveal on that stunner of a dance floor![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The bride and groom move to Boston this summer to go into ministry together, and we wanted to surprise them – and their wedding guests! – with a little send-off. We dreamt up a display with their college pennants, the distance between the two schools, some adorable fabric signage, lush flowers, and then several Boston-themed treats: Cape Cod chips, Boston Baked Beans, and hand-tied packages of the bride’s favorite, lobster gummies. Not only was it a sweet treat and personalized favor for guests as they departed the wedding, but it was a very special and meaningful surprise for the bride and groom as they move to Boston and begin their lives there together. We try to find several impactful ways to surprise and delight not only the guests, families, and friends but also the bride and groom, and this was one of many ways we achieved that and celebrated them well![/field]

Old Hollywood Glamor Meets Modern Romance At This Athens Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]We embraced a color palette that would bring out the venue’s warm colors: white, ivory and green. An added pop of yellow captured a more modern look, with gold accents underlying the royal elements of the location. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Georgia and Alex decided to get married at Queen’s Tower Estate, the royal estate where Queen Amalia and King Otto used to live. “We were looking for something unique, something that could be the perfect scenery for our fairytale wedding,” they reveal. “And, what is better than the gardens of a royal villa?” The neo-gothic architecture and manicured lawns supported their aesthetic and provided gorgeous photo ops. We wanted to create an event that would be characterized by old Hollywood glamour and romance with a modern touch. We designed a wedding day with an elegant aesthetic that felt like a natural extension of the surrounding landscape.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Georgia and Alex first met while taking an art class at the University of Florence in September 2017. “It was definitely love at first sight for both of us,” they admit. Two years later, the couple went on vacation to Corfu Island, Greece and there, at the Old Fortress of Corfu, while they were admiring the panoramic views of the Ionian Sea and the town of Corfu, Alex got down on one knee and proposed.[/field]

For the ceremony and the main reception event, the bride opted for an elegant design with royal allure by Vassilis Zoulias. Georgia wore a strapless A-line gown with an oversized bow in the back, an aristocratic style that matched with her personality and the wedding concept.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Georgia’s bridesmaids wore two different outfits. During the pre-ceremony festivities, they wore yellow silk dresses with cowl necks and gold strappy heels. For the main event, the girls changed into blush gowns in various styles. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The couple served their guests a Mediterranean menu, based on authentic Greek cuisine. For the entrée, everyone selected either tenderloin in Champagne sauce or Milokopi fish filet coated in lemon sauce. French pastries from the dessert spread. Madeleines, macarons, religieuse (two choux buns filled with pastry cream and topped with chocolate ganache), and baba au rhum (rum cake soaked in syrup). Guests washed down the abundance of sweets with glasses of Champagne. Later in the night, the newlyweds offered “his” and “hers” cocktails: an orange mojito for the bride and an apple martini for the groom.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The couple opted for garden roses, orchids, peonies, delphiniums and seasonal flowers. To accent the bride’s silhouette, a bridal bouquet that revealed a mixture of femininity and opulence arrayed with an abundance of orchids and lush greenery was chosen. For the ceremony the couple standed in front of the Tower’s impressive arch. Because we didn’t want to spoil the historical view with any grand construction for the ceremony, we created a flower aisle in which the blooms appeared as if they were growing beside the rows of chairs. The impressive aisle led to the deck, which was surrounded by urns overflowing with sizable flower arrangements. Gold and white garden furniture softened the property’s dramatic scenery. We wanted to create an elegant fairytale atmosphere for the dinner reception. A flower aisle led the way to a romantic gazebo decorated with green garlands, a ceiling filled with fairy lights glittering among hanging flowers and an impressive chandelier descending from the center. The reception concluded in a spectacular setting in the center of the royal gardens, where the couple and their guests paraded down a path that led to two beautiful trees we had created for them as a symbol of their new life together. Behind the trees – which are a representative of love and prosperity- stood the magnificent tower which represents history and wisdom and in front of them stood a gorgeous fountain representing a sacred opening, a tunnel to eternity – their endless love. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Their wedding cake conveyed French flavors. Georgia and Alex savored a slice of a St. Honoré cake, which contains layers of puff pastry, balls of choux pastry, and smooth pastry cream.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]One of the couple’s close friends officiated the ceremony, and they asked him to integrate a few Greek traditions. In addition to writing their own vows, the duo personalized their ceremony by selecting a special reading—the bride’s favorite Greek poem called “Ithaka.” To Georgia, the poem is meaningful because it “speaks of the importance of enjoying the journey and not only longing for the final destination, which is the perfect metaphor for the purpose in life, one which we never stop pursuing.”
A live jazz band played “City of Stars” by Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling from the musical La La Land for the couple’s first dance. Fog surrounded them to create “an illusion as if we were dancing on a cloud.”
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The couple dedicated some time for a photo shoot surrounding the royal gardens and spent a relaxing afternoon together long before the guests arrived. Because the bride used to ride horseback, we arranged an intimate walk for her with one of the Tower’s horses, allowing her a moment to relax and unwind.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]She also wore gorgeous bright yellow pumps by Manolo Blahnik not only for a pop of color but to infuse her Spanish heritage into her wedding wardrobe as well.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]“The groom has a love for cigars, so he wanted to surprise their guests with an intimate lounge party, complete with premium liquors and an exquisite cigar station,” Georgia shares. The antique furniture played into their overall vision.

Blooming Inspiration at a European Villa in California

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

Prior to designing, Vance Taylor Designs ultimately wanted to create a design that would be a true inspiration for couples who want to plan a European destination wedding close to home. With every decision they made, VTD came back to the question, “what is going to inspire people?” Beautifully captured through Redamancy Photo and Film’s lens, this European editorial does just that – arouses ideas for couples and vendors alike.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Blushes, creams, honey yellow, darker mauves, and cool blue.

[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]

This inspiration wedding took place at Villa Del Sol D’Oro, a beautiful venue located near the Sierra Madre mountains. It’s architecture was the perfect backdrop for a European getaway. It’s build was inspired by a spectacular villa in Florence, which was rumored to have been designed by Michelangelo, himself. With cameos in many Hollywood movies, including Legally Blonde, The Princess Diaries, and more, not only does the villa offer a taste of Italy, it also ties in Southern California’s luxurious history, too.

Procured from Lovely Bride, the dresses Selah wore were a beautiful mix of classic and modern. Her ceremony gown was from designer Rime Arodaky and demonstrated fine detailing and structured elegance. The dreamy puff sleeves and high slit were our favorite components! Her reception dress was a sleek romantic number from designer Alexandra Grecco. The sheer sleeves with floral vines incorporated the strong, natural florals present throughout their day.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The ceremony featured lush ground florals and a specialty arch, expertly arranged by Solstice bloom. When designing the editorial, florals were decidedly one of the key elements in creating a colorful European garden for guests to enjoy. A tablescape is one of the most important aspects, as it is the place your guests will spend the majority of their time. VTD chose to place the intimate tablescape on Villa Del Sol d’Oro’s outdoor terrace, tying in the signature archways with perfectly placed natural foliage. Solstice bloom produced the most beautiful bouncy compote arrangements. The blushes, creams, honey yellow, and darker mauves, complemented by a cool blue in the place settings, made for the perfect color palette. In addition, the details procured fromA Rental Connection offered an old world European aesthetic. The china had bold detailing on the rim and the vintage gold flatware had a rich, antique body. It was all brought together with the light blue polyester napkins and French bentwood chairs. VTD wanted to create a unique experience, tying in the florals from Selah and Griffin’s ceremony with the stairway leading to their intimate reception. And, finally, cozy indoor fireplace arrangements were a great way to draw everyone inside to enjoy the final moments of Selah and Griffin’s special day as the sun began to set.

[/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]The ceremony florals were our favorite element of this gorgeous day. There are so many types of ceremonies couples are drawn to in today’s world, but there’s something about an elevated, timeless floral walkway leading up to a custom arch that never ceases to take our breath away.[/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]

Our favorite tip for incorporating destination elements into your local wedding is to find the cultural details you’re most drawn to – those intentional aspects that make that special place so unique – and incorporate them into your day. For example, we opted to style Cat Lauren Calligraphy‘s stationery with statue replicas, which paid tribute to the old world beauty found in Europe.

Embracing Wedding Day Rain at the Merrimon-Wynne House!

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]White with hints of blush and neutrals.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Cara and Mason’s vision for their wedding day was to bring their guests to a place that they would remember 30 years from now. A place that was tasteful, elegant and timeless. Cara and Mason wanted their wedding day to represent aspects of both their personalities, and reflected on what makes each of them unique. Cara mentioned, “Ever since I was a young girl, I have been a huge girly girl. As a former dancer, I used to dress up and put makeup on as if I was heading to a performance. This came out when planning our wedding as I wanted our day to be very feminine.”. Mason is an old soul— kind, genuine, athletic, and classy— so wearing a tux and suspenders along with his groomsmen seemed fitting. The ivory, blush, and neutral colors were light and airy which added extra femininity to the day. As Cara walked down the aisle, there were flowers lining the guest chairs and white petals down the center of the aisle that led to a plush arch. Cara described, “walking down the aisle and seeing Mason at the end felt like a fairytale”. The florals in the ceremony and the reception made the day extra magical and fairytale-like. Hints of gold scattered through the reception in candles, votives, and dinnerware gave a special touch. Cara and Mason’s number one priority for the wedding day was that everyone had the best time. Warm smiles and hearty laughs emanating from the dance floor and photo booth indicate that they absolutely achieved their dreams.

From the bride –
A special moment occurred when we had almost made it through the entire ceremony. Mason’s cousin and aunt finished singing “The Blessing” while we lit the unity candle. It was during our vows, while placing the ring on Mason’s finger, that it began to downpour. A typical first response would be to panic but all I could do was smile. It was as if God said “this is going to make your day even more special”. Our Day of Coordinator quickly handed our officiant an umbrella to hold over our heads and we shared a magical first kiss as husband and wife in the pouring rain. Not to mention, our photos turned out breathtaking. Mason and I will cherish this moment for the rest of our lives.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]”My parents live at the beach in Hampstead, North Carolina. Mason had made the 2 hour drive to the beach one night while I was at work (as a night-shift nurse) to ask my parents for their blessing to marry me. I had no idea he had done all of this that night. Well fast forward a few days, my mom calls me and invites us to come down and spend a few days at the beach. She said my grandparents would be coming to visit too. I never hesitate to spend time with my grandparents as they are so very special to me. Once we arrived at the beach, I began to get ready to go to dinner with my immediate and extended family. After I was ready my sister asked if I would go take pictures with her on our dock. Now this is not just any dock, it is “the dock”. We always spend days out there laying in the sun, playing music, listening to the waves and watching boats go by. It is one of the places where Mason and I’s love grew deeper. So Mason, my sister and I all made our way to the dock and that is when Mason got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! My sister was able to capture the whole thing. It was the most special surprise I have ever encountered. When we hugged and kissed, all I heard was cheering and I turned around and saw Mason and I’s entire family standing on the third level porch jumping up and down cheering. It was so special and intimate. We then made our way back to the house where they had set up a huge surprise celebration for the two of us. Having everyone we love there was even more amazing. We took the boat to our favorite dinner spot that night. It was the most amazing day of my life, after our wedding day of course!” – Cara (the bride)[/field]

“Prior to wedding dress shopping, I knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted a beautiful and elegant ball gown just like the blogger Champagne and Chanel had. I ended up with the complete opposite, but I have no regrets. My dress is a fitted mermaid style dress encompassing lace, a corset, sparkle and tool detail. It is strapless with a sweetheart neckline and has the most beautiful long train with a continuation of the lace detailing. I am only 4’11 so the ball gowns swallowed me and made me appear shorter. It was perfect. It hugged in all the right places and gave me the long feminine body I have always longed for. There are not many times in my life where I feel beautiful (I have always struggled with self-confidence) but in this dress, I felt the most beautiful I ever have in my entire life. It was only fitting to pair the dress with my mother’s veil l. Her wedding dress was stolen from the dry cleaners so her veil held a powerful and special place in our hearts. It was an honor to wear it on my wedding day. Her and my grandmother sewed it onto a comb and I wore it proudly.” – Cara (the bride)[/field]
