[field title=”Florals & Decor”]To celebrate Florida we leaned into the beautiful blue tones the ocean provides and paired that with lattice work that compliments the old Florida lifestyle we love here. Soft white Garden Roses and Sweet-pea provided that true bright white that helps modernize the esthetic. We played with pattern to keep the energy light and playful while staying true to the lattice pattern that began as the accent to the otherwise traditional Chuppah structure custom designed for Madalyn and Sam by Trinity Rentals. The lattice design could also be found in their escort display that was built onto a hedge wall and constructed on site by Kaleidoscope Florals with tags that showed X’s and O’s. The X’ and O’s were a key element too as the couple shows their love by saying “I love you like XO”. We took that sentiment and thread it through to the Menus designed by Script Me Pretty and the Lattice paper with a subtle x and o hidden within. Small wooden Tic Tac Toe games could be found on cocktail tables for a little lighthearted fun to continue the xo playful gesture.
We wanted to fill the space with candlelight and florals so we opted for tall modern lined candelabras and large scale floral trees created by Kaleidoscope florals. The lighting was the icing on the cake by Luminary and CO to highlight the tall florals and give dimension to the entire space. -JetSetWed[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Our cake was created by Sweetified Cakes and inspired by the brides gown with airy wafer paper flowers jumping off the cake to add that bit of whimsy and play. Unfortunately the devastation of Hurricane Ian impacted Captiva Island greatly destroying their venue, and they had to pivot their entire wedding in 7.5 weeks. Their incredible planner JetSetWed (also personally impacted by the hurricane herself) immediately got to work securing the couple a new venue. And we mean immediately. With no power to the region, and incredibly spotty (read; mostly non existent) cell coverage – Kehrin of JetSetWed still managed to use the power of social media (Instagram) to find an open venue for the couple’s date. Instagram, surprisingly, was one of the only forms of communication that would send out through stories, during the days following the storm. It was truly a miracle – and a testimony to having professionals on your wedding team. Where there is love – there is always a way! Giselle was one of the very last brides ever to have this dress, as it was discontinued right after she bought it. She is also the only one in the Pacific Northwest to have bought it, making it extra special!

The bar was very important to this fun-loving couple! Their signature drinks were each named after their dogs. There was a “Peach Bellini” for their dog Peach which was served in a flute with a gold acrylic drink charm and there was a “Molly Mule” for their pup Molly that was served in a Moscow mule glass and sported a gold acrylic stirrer. They also had a stunning ice luge that featured a wedding bouquet frozen inside of it. This station had its own special cocktail that would be served through the luge and right into guests’ glasses. It was a fun and interactive moment for all the guests!

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Austin and I were going skiing with some friends at the end of December of 2021. This was an annual trip we have started taking with our friends Dan and Carley so I was not suspicious at all. We got in quite a bit earlier than our friends so Austin told me he made a cocktails reservation and a dinner reservation to celebrate my birthday early as my birthday is January 17th. He said it was a surprise which I thought was sweet so I just went with it and allowed him to lead the day! It was BLIZZARDING on our way from the airport to the Air Bnb so much so that we couldn’t see more than 10 feet in front of the car. I could tell Austin was nervous but he said driving in this weather was the cause. We got to the Air Bnb and quickly changed for dinner and headed into Vail Village. As soon as we parked the snow slowed to a beautiful flurry. As our cocktail location was a surprise to me I just let Austin lead the way via Google maps. We started walking behind buildings and there was no one else around and I started to question his navigation skills. We got to this gorgeous bridge that had a frozen creek beneath it and I stopped to take pictures. I remember Austin kind of urging me to keep walking which is unusual for him but I went with it. At the other end of the bridge I saw a girl and what appeared to be her boyfriend taking photos of her with a professional grade camera and I said out loud to Austin “Oh my gosh I think they are about to get engaged!”. I think at that moment he knew he was about to completely surprise me! As we got to the other end of the bridge he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him! The photographers turned out to be for us and they captured the whole moment! It was such a sweet day and the way he planned every detail meant so much to me. I loved the pearls that cover the entire dress and obviously the top tulle detail off the shoulders was just so stunning and unique. I actually got a different bottom from the stock version put on my dress. I wanted the longer train because it made me feel more bridal and I LOVE the way it turned out.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]I got my Bridesmaids dresses from Birdy Grey. I loved the Emerald color and fabric and especially the price point. We had three kinds of passed hors d’oeurves during the cocktail hour; mac n’ cheese balls (a big hit!), crab wontons, and spicy chili chicken. For the main meal we had mixed green salads, pan seared chicken with tomatillo garlic cream sauce and queso fresco, garlic broccolini, and thyme roasted fingerling and sweet potatoes. Everything was wonderful!
For our drinks we had a full bar during the cocktail hour and reception portion of the night with a Margarita and Manhattan as our signature cocktails. During the dinner portion of the night we only did wine service. My dads good friend, Atsmon Shahar, owns his own winery, Piezo, so we exclusively served that all night. We served the 2017 Chardonnay as our white option and the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon as our red option. My family loved our wine so having a high quality wine option was really important to us![/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]My florist was Pick a Daisy DFW. She did a great job capturing my vision. I wanted alot of baby’s breath and white roses as I thought those two together take up so much space and are so beautiful. I had tall baby’s breath arrangements at most of my guests tables and short rose and baby’s breath at the remaining guest tables. I had a long babys breath and rose arrangement going down the entire head table that was accompanied with so many candles! All of the columns were wrapped in greenery which i think made it feel like it was in a greenhouse! My alter was covered in greenery and white roses. It was all so beautiful. I would say my favorite thing about weddings is the flowers. They really make a brides whole vision come true! I wanted people to walk into dinner and be wowed by the florals at each table while also letting the natural beauty of my venue shine through as well.[/field]

Our band, The Little Wedding Band, handled the rest of the music for the night. They were AMAZING. Our dance floor was packed the entire reception. [field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Since the Bride was a true fashionista, we wanted to stay a little more classic in our choices for colors and decor so the overall look of the Wedding would remain relevant with passage of time, instead of being overly trendy. The vibe was Clean, Mod with Organic Elements of Baby’s Breath sprinkled in for texture.
Striking white lacquer tables and acrylic ghost chairs paired with smokey grey glassware and baby’s breath clouds proved to be a romantic, yet moody wedding Day for Alexa and Matt. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Alexa & Matt’s first date in June 2010 was High SchoolProm, and after their prom, they went out to the Hamptons, where they had an after-prom party and bonfire on the beach. After a long night, Matt took care of her and carried her up the dunes back to the house. Fast forward 10 years later, Matt proposed in the same spot on the beach at Gurney’s (a Hamptons Resort which was 100 yards from where he first carried her up the stairs).
On the day of the proposal, they went horseback riding, had a spa day, and then Matt brought Alexa back to a private spot that was decorated with old photos of the two of them, flowers, champagne and a photographer to capture the moment! It was absolutely perfect. Their parents met them the next day, and stayed overnight for a long weekend to share in the moment! [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Espresso Martinis and Tequila Shots for Signature Drinks at Cocktail Hour, Why Not? They paired their two favorite drinks as an unlikely but FUN offering right after guests left the ceremony.
Champagne is about as classic as they come when you are deciding on drinks, so as guests came up the stairs from cocktail hour, the Bride and Groom were on display – pouring champagne into the top of a stacked Coupe Tower. The staff from Club Pelican Bay were handing out the filled coupes to the arriving guests, so instead of hanging champagne pre-set on the tables, guests were able to partake in a fun “action station” of sorts, put on by the guests of honor.
Passed hors d’oeuvres at the Cocktail Party included Lobster Arancini, Ahi Tuna Wontons, Beef Satay, Crab Cakes, Spanakopita and Duck Spring Rolls. In addition to the passed bites was a Raw Bar Station with a MUST-HAVE for the couple – Oysters. Both Kumamoto and PEI oyster varieties were offered and displayed on a beautiful ice sculpture alongside cocktail shrimp.
Guests had the option of 10oz New York Strip Steak or Wild Isles Salmon for their entrees, both served with Potato Dauphinoise and Haricot Vert with a Carrot Ribbon. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The Custom Invitation from Grey & Cake truly set the tone for this Wedding Weekend. The sage letterpress invitations were wrapped in a lasercut “baby’s breath” printed wrap and tied together with a sage ribbon. The Duogram, Menus and even envelope liner had additional accents of the printed baby’s breath that carried through the reception details.
The white perimeter room drape, white vinyl dance floor, and white stage surround were all a big part of neutralizing the room – which gave us a blank slate to work with. Then we brought in sleek, long and square lacquer tables to bring the element of clean-lined furniture, which gives a more modern uplift to the space that linens don’t quite achieve.
We took advantage of the dining room’s built-in alcove (normally used for the Band’s stage) and created a cozy little bar lounge in the room. We opened the drape with gathered swags, that made for an inviting space to order your favorite cocktail.
In terms of the tablescape, we had three varieties of centerpieces for each of the table shapes mixed into the layout. Candelabras wrapped with baby’s breath garland, bud vases of baby’s breath and long rows of flickering candlelight on the king’s tables.
Without a doubt, the WOW moment in the room came from the ethereal Baby’s Breath clouds that were suspended from the ceiling. Kaleidoscope Florals arranged these beautiful clusters of delicate stems from random points in the room, and also focused a large statement piece hanging from the room’s central chandelier. You could not miss these pieces of art that seem to bring in some fun texture in such a stark white space[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The Wedding cake was understated, with white textured ruffle layers, and a runner of baby’s breath trailing down the right side of the cake. Sassy Cakes did a beautiful job adding the right amount of texture to the cake, while keeping it simple. Alexa & Matt cut into this vanilla and raspberry delight and proceeded to feed each other right off the knife.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]When you have been together for 10+ years, it makes it incredibly special to have someone that has watched your story evolve perform the ceremony. The Bride’s cousin, Lindsay, officiated the ceremony with a very heartfelt performance. The Bride and Groom wrote their own vows, that touched on so many meaningful moments in their history – that reduced the guests to tears.
Jade Strings provided a Violin & Cello duo for the ceremony, and Alexa walked down the aisle to “Thousand Years”. The Newlyweds exited with a more upbeat “Higher Love” as they skipped back down the aisle.
The Newlyweds danced their First Dance to “Dancing in the Moonlight”, performed by The Headliners Band, but surprised everyone with a more upbeat “2nd Dance” song (after dinner) to the infamous Dirty Dancing song, “Time of My Life” with a spinning lift and all! When the cold sparks went off for THAT moment of the song – the guests went wild!
Alexa and her Mother danced an emotional “Mother-Daughter” dance to Celine Dion’s “Because You Loved Me” and Matt danced with his Mom to Melissa Smith “Seems Like Yesterday”. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]We have definitely seen the Bride change into a “party dress” before, but this time around the Bride AND Groom had a Costume Change and swapped color schemes. Reversing the rolls, Alexa traded her white dress for a sheer, black sequin Dolce and Gabbana Dress with “Til Death Do Us Part” Tulle gloves. She even had the stylist stay to update her hair look, and add in a matching Tulle bow. Matt hung up his black tuxedo jacket and donned a White Dinner Jacket, accented with a black pocket square. Before they came back to the party for their “2nd First Dance”, they took a few minutes to do some high-fashion flash portraits, including some cozy ones in the venue’s elevator. This couple was HOT, HOT, HOT! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Since the Dinner Reception was upstairs and the Afterparty was tucked away downstairs, we wanted to have a fun transition between the two spaces. We brought in some Hora Loca Dancers to join in on the Band’s last song – bursting into the room with high-energy dance moves and elaborate costumes. Once they caught all the guests’ attention, they led everyone out of the room (Bride and Groom out in front) and single file down the staircase- right into the afterparty! The party never lost it’s momentum – in fact, I think it had a second wind as they came into the Afterparty space and met a dancing Mirror Man face to face! DJ Dayve had the beats popping as guests arrived for the next part of the evening. [/field]

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Kiki and Michael’s Tuscany-inspired wedding is a beautiful and romantic celebration of love and union. The organic greenery, with different shades of flowers in white, cream, beige, champagne, and mauve, creates a soft and effortless ambiance that captures the essence of a Tuscan summer. The couple also decided to incorporate paintings from the bride’s father, who is a renowned painter in Asia, throughout the venue to reflect their Chinese roots.
The ceremony takes place in the lush rose garden surrounded by cypress trees, with a whimsical organic arch of greenery and soft blooms serving as the backdrop for the bride and groom. Guests are surrounded with greenery, wildflowers and herbs, adding to the organic and natural feel of the event. The reception is held on the charming terrace overlooking the mountains in the distance, with hanging chandeliers, romantic draping, and more organic florals to add to the understated yet romantic ambiance. The tables are decorated with timeless and elegant centerpieces made up of vases filled with the same soft blooms and greenery used in the ceremony. The dinner is a leisurely and relaxed affair, with guests feasting on delicious Tuscan cuisine and toasting the happy couple with glasses of crisp, local wine. Kiki and Michael even customized the wine labels with their engagement photos to add another extra touch to the evening.
As the night draws to a close, guests are invited to witness Kiki and Michael’s magical first dance beneath the stars. The bride and groom take their final twirl on the dance floor, surrounded by the love and joy of their friends and family. This Tuscany inspired wedding is a true celebration of love, romance, and the beauty of nature. The timeless yet elegant design and organic elements created an unforgettable experience of blissfulness that will be cherished for years to come.
[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]The proposal took place on a warm summer night, Michael and Kiki took a walk around Granville Island before their dinner reservation. He took her to a secluded area surrounded by the waterfront where he had hired professional photographers to capture the moment. He convinced her to take some pictures since they were all dressed up and when he saw the opportunity that’s when he got down on one knee and waited for her to notice him. Michael was so nervous at the time when Kiki finally noticed, his mind went blank and all he could muster up was a faint “will you marry me?”[/field]

Grace and Corbin wanted casual light bites that allowed people to mix and mingle without putting a focus on formal dining. The menu included a peach caprese salad and crab cakes as appetizers. For the dinner portion, short rib, mashed potatoes with grilled vegetables were served. The couples specialty cocktails included a whisky and sprite for the Mr., and vodka, and lime juice with lavender simple syrup for the Mrs. They also offered a Metz margarita for guests to enjoy that served as an ode to their new shared last name.

Aligned with the color palette of antique blues and whites, Kelly, with Poppy Lane Design created beautiful floral arrangements for Grace and Corbin’s special day. The bride’s personal bouquet had a white monochromatic design that included flowers such as garden roses, ranunculus, sweet peas, and jasmine vine. The couple also exchanged traditional Hindu garlands during the ceremony. Overall, the couple was looking for a classic and romantic yet minimalistic style. Incorporating an acrylic seating chart and clear chairs, helped to create a light and airy feel to ensure that the fantastic 360-degree bay view was never obstructed. Aside from the view, the main focal point of the reception was the large white wisteria installation above the dance floor that wowed the guests!

Nora and Jackson’s French-inspired garden wedding in Hawaii featured a mix of elegant and rustic elements. The overall design was romantic, with a touch of whimsy and charm. The venue was adorned with lush greenery, palm trees, blooming flowers and vintage-inspired details. Aloha means “the presence of breath” or the essence of existence, love, peace, mutual understanding, and respect. Nora and Jackson felt this beautiful, profound word portrays the pillars of their relationship. They immediately fell under its spell after visiting the island back in 2015. As a haven for Asian food and multicultural delights, they felt it was the place to gather all their loved ones and immortalize their love. And on their 7th anniversary – October 16th, 2022, Nora and Jackson translated their vision into reality at the Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina. Nora and Jackson’s entire wedding was a beautiful fusion of different elements. The aesthetic was inspired by French gardens and enveloped by glorious tropical greenery and palm trees. The ceremony aisle was adorned with lavish floral artistry in the form of a double arch that beautifully framed their love and devotion. It exuded a timelessly elegant feel while channeling an airy, romantic look. The blush palette enriched with a rare color of plumeria was enough to touch the hearts of everyone present and be forever etched in their memory. The reception perfectly embodied the ethereal garden floral delight with a French touch, with long tablescapes. The opulent chandeliers whose poles were wrapped with fresh rainforest leaves. The guests were welcomed with a vintage gold welcome mirror while fresh flowers caressed everyone’s senses. But what made this exquisite French garden affair was the customized high-end favors by Jo Malone, which were an ode to classic elegance. Beautifully placed on ivory lace medallion linens and refined tableware, and surrounded by blush-colored flowers, this combination quenched everyone’s thirst for pure aesthetics. To elevate the guest experience and achieve a natural garden feel, as a finesse, there were pink butterfly place cards for the seating chart. The butterflies were placed around the champagne glasses – fluttered with the breeze’s help. Finally, the chandelier’s luminous beauty allowed the fête to unfold into the evening hours. Then, the guests were treated to Tahitian and fire knife dance performances, adding a Hawaiian atmosphere to the wedding celebration. It was truly splendid entertainment for Nora and Jackson’s loved ones, who came from all around the world to celebrate their love. Despite their challenges, Nora and Jackson’s iconic day was curated to perfection.

From the sprawling arches to the overflowing centerpieces, this wedding is a true garden of dreams, where lush blooms and delicate petals come together to create a stunning display of nature’s beauty. The beauty of summertime (still in Hawaii) has been captured in this lavish this wedding floral design, where every detail is an ode to the season’s renewal and growth. For Nora and Jackson’s wedding, we have more than 20 types of flowers including: Anthurium, Clematis, Delphinium, Tulip, Garden Rose, Spray Rose, David Austin Rose, Hydrangea, Lisianthus, Lily, Parrot Tulip, Ranunculus, Snapdragon, Sweet Pea, Butterfly Ranunculus, Plumeria, Gypsohila, Stock, Allium Neopolitanum and Astrantia.
Even though they couldn’t have locally sourced flowers because Hawaii has only tropical ones – and the climate doesn’t allow for roses and other cool climate plants to thrive – they managed to get them. This was done with the help of the New York floral vendor – Floraland Weddings & Events, who ordered them from NY, Japan, the Netherlands, and other European countries. With the stunning natural beauty of Hawaii, this French-style garden wedding was a truly unforgettable event, filled with sophistication, beauty, and romance!

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]FROM THE COUPLE
Jenn: I found my wedding dress at Seng Couture, a boutique in New Jersey, not far from where I grew up. My mother and I were on the hunt for an elegant, form-fitting dress. I wanted something that sparkled but wasn’t too heavy which seemed to be the challenge with other beaded or sequined dresses that I tried on. My Kitty Chen dress was the first dress that I tried on that day, and my mother and I knew instantly that it was my dress!
Tobi: I had my tuxedo custom made by a tailor in my hometown of Lagos, Nigeria called Kimono Kollection. I wanted a classic black tuxedo for our black-tie wedding.
To honor Tobi’s Yoruba heritage, we also celebrated our Nigerian Engagement Ceremony, a traditional celebration of our families coming together and becoming one. We had custom outfits made for this occasion. Jenn wore a gold, beaded lace dress. Tobi wore a blue agbada with gold stitching. Our friends and family wore our family cloth called, “aso ebi,” which was hand-dyed in Nigeria and made into custom outfits for our guests.

Once the dancing kicked off, it just didn’t stop! We left the party after midnight, and the guests enjoyed themselves for hours more.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Nigerian Ceremony – I loved that both the bride and the groom got a grand entrance. During these entrances, I was introduced to the Nigerian tradition of “money spraying,” where cash is literally thrown over the bride and groom. The wedding parties danced their way into the engagement ceremony, under a shower of cash. Jenn and Tobi’s parents prayed over their children together. Their families affirmed their support
of their engagement with great enthusiasm! Tobi and his groomsmen laid facedown before Jenn’s parents as he agreed to provide and care for her. And lastly, when asked for Jenn’s dowry, her mom responded “My daughter cannot be bought,” a truthful and modern twist on an outdated custom.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The Spanish countryside featured rolling hills, while the venue landscaping and architecture offered gorgeous trees, neutral walls, period architectural detail, and intricate ironwork. the activities and amazing food experiences that the Ritz-Carlton Maldives has to offer. For the
first day and a half, we took it easy relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, and enjoying room service
and the amazing view from our overwater villa, after the excitement of the wedding. From day two
it was one activity or culinary experience after another. We enjoyed seven different amazing
restaurants on the island and their sister resort, went hoverboarding, met other couples at wine
and whisky tastings, enjoyed a couples massage, did a honeymoon photoshoot, and experienced
a bit of Maldivian culture at the resort’s Maldivian Night event. Did we mention that the food was
amazing? We even had a private dinner on the beach that looked like a date you would see on
the Bachelor. Everyone at the resort was so kind and accommodating during our stay and that

La Vie en Rose! I wanted everything to be pink and cheerful! Two other things that really made our wedding special were invitations by Tiny Shindigs and our band, Your Dream Band. They were the absolute highlight of the night… so chic and stylish and the most incredible voices.

[field title=”Wedding Colors”](From the bride) Coming up with a wedding theme can be fun but a bit struggling at first. When my wedding planner asked if I had any inspiration, a million ideas ran through my mind, but I couldn’t settle on any of them. However, one thing I knew for certain was the color – purple has been my favorite color since childhood. It is so aesthetic and has been the “theme color” representing important stages of my life. Our planner also recommended adding some black element to complement the purple colors, which worked very well with the deep green backdrop of the mountains. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”](From the bride) After a decision was made on the wedding color/theme, the rest parts became a bit easier. We both agreed to go with a simple and modern design as the venue itself is beautiful enough and does not need excessive decoration. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”](From the bride) Not counting the robe I wore during the make-up, I had three looks for the wedding. During the tea ceremony (a cultural tradition in China when people get married), my mothers and I were all wearing the ‘qipao’, which is a type of mandarin gown, and I purposely picked the one in purple color to match my wedding theme. My favorite part about this look is the real flowers used as hair accessories, paired with pearl earrings. My main gown for the wedding ceremony was from Amsale. It is embroidered with cherry blossom patterns and comes with a matching long veil. I had my hair down (again with real flowers as hair accessories) for a more feminine and romantic look before the ceremony, and then changed to the updo hairstyle for a more formal and elegant look during the ceremony. My last look worn during the reception and first dance was a tie-strap gown in light ivory, with beaded butterflies and flowers around the chest area. I wanted a dress that I would feel comfortable to wear to dance, and it did its job perfectly[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The couple shared with the guests their love of California cuisine for its fresh and sustainable ingredients and diverse menu. To pair with the food and the celebrating vibe, white sparkling wines were poured. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”](From the bride) To add some modern elements, we also used mirrors for the table numbers, seating charts, welcome signs, etc. The ceremony area is my favorite part of the design – the light-weighted white paper décor created a flowy and romantic feeling to the background, and the relatively low stand avoided blocking the beautiful mountain view.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Instead of traditional round wedding cakes, the couple chose a tiered square cake for its modern look. In the environment constructed with many 90 degree angles such as the pool where the cake was displayed, the cake blended in the scene perfectly. For the color, purple is a no brainer! [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”](From the bride) For me, it was the process of picking the wedding songs that I enjoyed the most during the wedding planning. Not just the bride/groom ceremony entrance songs, but also the songs to play during pre-ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, dancing, etc. I think music is a very direct way of creating the type of ambience we want for the wedding.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″](From the bride) Los Angeles is always on the top of my wedding venue list. I spent my adolescence in LA before moved away for colleague, and I’ve always had special feelings about this place because it shaped who I am today. When considering the type of venue, my husband and I were very keen on having an outdoor wedding. We love spending time in nature and would like to share that love and pass it on to the important people in our life. We also wanted to have the wedding in an exotic setting but knew traveling abroad could be difficult for our guests during COVID. So, when my wedding planner showed me Instagram pictures of Stone Mountain Estate, it immediately won my heart: the earth-tone architectural design well blended with the beautiful natural setting, the stunning view of the Santa Monica mountains, the marble pool surrounded by curly-shaped plants, etc. I could really imagine myself getting married in this place.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″](From the bride) Learning the first dance was definitely the most personal experience for both of us from the planning process. We were very against the idea of doing a first dance at the beginning because we are both too shy to perform in front of that many people. But after attending a few of friends’ weddings, we were very touched by the love and unity between the newly wed couples from the dance and decided to give it a try. Turned out that we both quite enjoyed learning the first dance, and it was a unique and memorable experience for us.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Having an August wedding allowed us to play off of both summer and fall colors. We knew we wanted greenery that was lively and welcoming, but also wanted to ensure our complimenting shades of color (mauve, pink, dusty blue, pink and purple) set the mood for a romantic wedding.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Knowing that Chris and I have lived out of state for the past few years we really wanted to hone in on creating a space that was designed specifically for our family and friends to reunite and experience a day full of love. The Hutton House delivers an intimate yet urban space that was the perfect layout to bring to life our cozy-modern summer wedding. The volume of space separated into three different sections allowed us to create a cohesive yet different vibe around each corner.
The Fireside Room: A perfect place to hold our ceremony. The amount of light that shone through the windows accompanied by the wood burning fireplace made us feel right at home when exchanging our vows. This room was later converted into a more relaxing space with a photo-op and lounge furniture.
The Lakeside Room: The vaulted ceilings, wooden tables with candles lit, and fresh floral installation really brought this space together for a cross-pollinated family dinner we will never forget. Everyone also showed their moves when it was time to party.
Courtyard: Filled with music and cafe lights, this space was amazing for games, chatting and dancing during the warm summer evening.
This wouldn’t have been possible if we didn’t have our talented wedding planner, Jennifer Gregory, Owner of A Modern Fête. She pulled together an incredible team of vendors who helped bring this vision to life.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]My original plan was to take Molly on an excursion through her home Bogotá, Colombia and propose during one of the highlights of the trip. The proposal took a turn due to Covid-19 travel restrictions so I transitioned to her favorite holiday, Christmas. I knew we would be spending this Holiday as a duo in Maryland without family so I felt it would be a grand surprise we’d both enjoy. I woke up a few hours before Molly and decorated the house in the fashion of a winter wonderland. Icicles draped from the ceiling, fake snow and candles scattered across the floor, and a row of Christmas lights leading up to me. As she walked through, there I was kneeling on one knee next to the Christmas tree and balloons spelled out “MARRY ME”.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]I went to a couple bridal shops before I landed at A&Be Bridal Boutique in downtown Minneapolis. I had envisioned my wedding gown would be a minimal, gorgeous satin gown. After a few dresses, I instantly fell in love with this beautiful beaded sparkle lace corset dress made by Made For Love. As soon as I saw this wedding dress paired with this exquisite cathedral length veil, I knew this dress was for me. My wedding dress was complete once I added a piece of my mother’s wedding dress on the inside[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]For my bridesmaids, I wanted to find a dress that continued with our theme for a romantic modern wedding. I chose a Desert Rose Satin Dress from Revelry which perfectly complemented the colors in their bouquets.[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]My groomsmen and I went for a black tie event look and feel. I ensured each gentleman was laced with black rose cufflinks, custom socks, and freshly picked boutonnieres.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Guests dined family-style on chicken and roasted vegetables. Instead of a typical plated meal, we wanted everyone to feel relaxed and at home.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]When we first viewed our venue, we knew the floral was going to be a key piece in our design. Style Society helped us in adding smilax greenery to the staircase for the perfect entrance. For the ceremony, we added a beautiful floral garland on the fireplace as the perfect backdrop. Lastly, we wanted to take advantage of the gorgeous high-vaulted ceilings in the reception room by adding a circle greenery and floral hanging installation above the dance floor.
Hunt Wright Designs did an amazing job pulling together our wedding decor. Brandi worked through every small detail with us to craft the perfect wedding stationary. The design aesthetic carried through to our welcome sign, table numbers, and seating chart. All of our wedding day decor was kicked off by an elegant invitation with multiple layers giving our guests a taste of what they’d see come 8.4.22.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The newlyweds and wedding party enjoyed a two-tiered cake after cutting. Guests had their choice from an assortment of cupcakes all from Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]It was important for us to have a ceremony that reflected who we are as a couple and we felt like the piano renditions of our favorite classic songs from artists like Ben E. King, Natalie Cole to modern-day artists such as Frank Ocean and Bruno Mars.
Reception Songs-
Daughter & Dad Dance: My dad and I danced to my brother singing the Disney classic “You’ll Be In My Heart” which was the song my mom would play for me growing up. It was the perfect tribute to my parents who have sacrificed a lot for their kids.
Mother & Son Dance: My mom and I decided to go off the traditional road a bit. We started with a song that hit on my love for my mom as a mama’s boy. From there we broke out into a rehearsed dance routine that featured some 2000’s classics from Soulja Boy (crank that), T.I (shoulder lean), Milly Rock and Chicken Noodle Soup.
Bride & Groom First Dance: Playing off of the ceremony music, our first dance was the modern version of the classic Moon River (originally sung by Audrey Hepburn) sung by Beyonce.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]A rose was placed on an empty chair at the ceremony to honor Molly’s sister, who had passed away. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Being that Molly is from Colombia, it was important that I honored her by wearing the Colombia orchid flower as my boutonniere.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The color palette included deep midnight blue, a rich forest green, champagne, ivory, and rose gold. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The vision for the wedding was simply to create a celebration that was classic, romantic, strikingly beautiful (and of course, wildly fun!) at Christy and Ivo’s private home, such that the party in the backyard felt like a natural extension of the interior of their historic house. [field title=”Wedding Gown”]Christy’s strapless Berta gown was sensational. Even in the same gown, she transformed her look several times throughout the evening, as she wore a beautiful tulle cape for the ceremony in lieu of a traditional veil, and then transitioned into a delicate bolero for the reception. [field title=”Food & Drink”]Upon arrival, guests were served tray-passed hors d’eouvres and cocktails, before sitting down to a four-course plated dinner in the tent. Dinner included cauliflower soup, a bibb wedge salad with figs and bleu cheese, pan seared grouper, and wagyu beef tenderloin before everyone enjoyed decadent wedding cake and a smorgasbord of late night desserts.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]From the very beginning, Christy was enamored with the idea of using quicksand roses in abudance. And so we did! The florals were all white, with the exception of this particular variety of rose that pulls either soft blush or true champagne depending on it’s natural petal variation. It was a beautiful compliment to the rose gold flatware and candle vessels we paired with the tabletop elements. Floral varieties included white larkspur, sweet pea, lisianthus, garden roses, stock, and ranunculus. We let smilax greenery and italian ruscus foliage drip throughout the tent on the bistro lighting and fixtures. Tiny unexpected stems of dark blue viburnum berries were added to the centerpieces as a nice little tidbit to tie in with the midnight blue china dinner plates. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The cake featured simple textured buttercream icing on three tiers, and we displayed it on a traditional pedestal stand surrounded by voluminous fresh flowers. It was a fun little statement moment in the tent! [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]At each place setting, guests discovered a small gift box personalized with their name. Inside the box they found a thoughtful thank-you note from Christy and Ivo, as well as a NEST candle and a box of matches. A little something to take home and remember the evening by, with a heartfelt message of gratitude for traveling to celebrate together and supporting their marriage. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Though live entertainment was important, we wanted to be mindful of the intimate size of the party. With less than 80 guests in attendance, a traditional big band would have felt too large and imposing in the tent setting, but a DJ wasn’t quite enough to satisfy desire to have a live music dynamic. We turned to the team at T. Warner Artists, who put together a unique mix of three live musicians and a DJ. They synchronized a fascinating blend of classic dance hits, Latin music, and a wide musical range that kept the dance floor packed all evening long. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]This wedding was three years in the making. Our team began working with Christy and Ivo in 2018 to ultimately plan, design, and produce their engagement party in 2019. A few months later we began planning the wedding for 2020, which ultimately then had to be postponed multiple times. It felt like a dream come true when we *finally* got the chance to celebrate these two with a proper wedding event on October 1, 2022. But not to be outdone by a global pandemic, the weather forecast did it’s level best to mess up our plans, as hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida mere days before the wedding and worked it’s way up the east coast, bringing it’s tropical storm remnants directly through Winston-Salem, North Carolina less than 24 hours before the wedding. Not only did it mean that many of the guests (most who were traveling from the Miami area) had great difficulty getting to NC in time, but we also dealt with severe wind damage, downed trees/branches and power outages. The power at Christy and Ivo’s home came back on less than three hours before guests began arriving for cocktail hour! Needless to say, we were prepared with generator power and a dry tent, but suffice it to say that it was quite a wild week! During dinner that night, the clouds finally cleared, we could see the stars, and there wasn’t a single drop of rain. It was beautiful. The leaves that had fallen on our sailcloth tent the night before looked like beautiful confetti! [/field]
