An Authentic Farm-To-Table Wedding at Flora Farms

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]
On her wedding day, Kathryn envisioned the colors and decor seamlessly blending with the serene ambiance of Flora Farms. She opted for a harmonious palette, incorporating abundant greenery and soft sunset hues to complement the natural beauty of the venue. Drawing inspiration from Flora Farms’ picturesque surroundings, Kathryn selected muted tones reminiscent of the setting sun: warm oranges, earthy terracottas, soft yellows, delicate corals, and gentle pinks, interspersed with lush greens. By choosing organic materials and subtle, natural shades, Kathryn ensured that the decor enhanced, rather than detracted from, the enchanting allure of Flora Farms.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Kathryn & Mitchell spent a considerable amount of time in Cabo and are huge foodies. Kathryn, in particular, was drawn to the laid-back, authentic farm-to-table atmosphere of Flora Farms, coupled with its exceptional service.
The enchanting ambiance created by a canopy of twinkling lights and the aisle lined with mango groves captured her heart completely.

For Kathryn, it was essential that the wedding decor seamlessly integrated with the natural surroundings of Flora Farms. She aimed for an organic aesthetic, ensuring that the chosen colors and materials harmonized effortlessly with the venue’s lush landscape and overall atmosphere.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Kathryn & Mitchell were both at Columbia Business School and met on a ski trip in Jackson Hole. For the proposal, Kathryn’s sister Kelly and her 11-year-old niece Riley visited her in New York one weekend. Kathryn had anticipated a simple meet-up with her fiancé Mitch at the Plaza Hotel for afternoon tea. However, to her utter surprise, Mitch proposed to her outside the hotel. Overwhelmed by the unexpected proposal, Kathryn found herself in complete shock.

Celebrating the joyful occasion, they indulged in champagne together, oblivious to the fact that Kathryn’s entire family had flown in from Los Angeles to join in the celebration. That evening, a special dinner was arranged exclusively for their immediate families, followed by a grand party attended by all their friends. Little did Kathryn know, Mitch had orchestrated every detail of the elaborate surprise without her knowledge. Reflecting on the experience, Kathryn marveled at how so many people managed to keep the secret from her.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]At Flora Farms, the wedding menu offers a tantalizing journey of flavors. Begin with the Handmade Burrata, where creamy cheese meets the sweetness of roasted butternut squash, the earthiness of sage-pesto, and the crunch of toasted pepitas, all harmonizing atop a bed of peppery arugula, served with a crusty baguette.
Follow this with the refreshing crunch of the Romaine & Radicchio Salad, adorned with shavings of parmesan and a zesty lemon-balsamic dressing, promising a delightful interplay of textures and tastes.

For the main course, indulge in a family-style feast featuring the Pan-Seared Catch of the Day, showcasing tender marinated white beans and a burst of cherry tomato vinaigrette, or opt for the Coal-Roasted Chicken, boasting succulent meat with the bright notes of confit lemon vinaigrette and accompanied by tender baby root vegetables.
The sides elevate the dining experience with Grilled Green Beans tossed in Caesar dressing, topped with a soft boiled egg and parsley-pecorino breadcrumbs, alongside Crispy Crushed Baby Potatoes infused with fresh herbs and served with a zesty lemon-paprika aioli.

Concluding on a sweet note, the wedding cake, adorned with luscious Vanilla Buttercream, awaits to be savored alongside a selection of desserts ranging from traditional Churros to indulgent Chocolate S’mores Tart, ensuring every palate is enchanted till the last bite.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The setup was adorned with tropical flowers such as orchids, anthuriums, and heliconia lobster claws, all in full bloom. Complementing this natural beauty, organic and charming decorations crafted from farm-fresh fruits added a delightful touch, seamlessly blending with the surroundings and the sunset tone palette.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake, flavored with luscious Vanilla Buttercream and layered threefold, was adorned with natural flowers meticulously chosen to harmonize with the wedding’s color palette.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]
The bride walked down the aisle to the melody of “A Thousand Years.” After saying “I do,” they exited to the uplifting notes of “Wake Me Up” by Avicii, beautifully interpreted by harp and violin. During the cocktail hour, the ambiance was set by the harmonious melodies of violin and guitar, serenading guests with tunes like “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac, “Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding, and “If I Lose Myself” by Alesso. The newlyweds made a grand entrance to their reception with boundless energy, accompanied by the electrifying beats of “One More Time” by Daft Punk. Kathryn & Mitchell shared their first dance as a married couple to the timeless classic “Stand by Me” by Ben E. King, joyfully singing along with their family and friends. For the Father-Daughter dance, they swayed to the heartfelt melody of “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, while Mitchell danced with his mother to the soul-stirring tune of “Landslide” by Stevie Nicks.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Kathryn’s brother delivered a speech that had the guests in stitches, and to cap it off, he surprised everyone by bringing out a character named Rambo from The Office on the Beach, a hot spot in Cabo. He explained that whenever they visit, they always spend time there, and he wanted to incorporate it as a “Fun Fact” about Kathryn & Mitchell.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]After the wedding, Kathryn expressed that she had never felt so overwhelmed with gratitude and love in her life. She also joked that she had never been so sweaty from the dance floor, as they spent the night dancing alongside their guests.[/field]

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Drago and Whitney were living in LA when he had a work trip to New York one weekend. He asked if she wanted to join him so they could make a weekend out of it.

Between his work obligations, they explored the city and went sightseeing. One of the sights Drago was very adamant about visiting was Central Park. They planned to go each day they were there, but something always came up. The first day, work ran longer than expected. The second evening, they planned to go after dinner, but a major power outage closed the park.

On their last day, as they were heading to the airport, Drago insisted that they stop by Central Park on the way. Whitney was surprised at how badly he wanted to see the park, but she agreed, thinking they should make it quick.

Luck was on their side, as they found parking right next to Central Park, giving them some extra time. They found a little garden off the main trail with a beautiful view of the city. Drago told Whitney to turn around so he could take her picture. She thought, “How cute!” and posed facing away from the camera.

When she turned back around, Drago was kneeling with a ring in hand and asked her to marry him!

She said yes![/field]

A 3-Day Destination Affair at Masseria San Nicola in Puglia

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The bridesmaids wore citrus colours, groomsmen wore a variety of natural earth tones.
[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Ian and Lacey tapped Francesco and Sveva Contursi from Ottone Weddings to be their eyes and ears on the ground, and to help bring their vision of the perfect Italian wedding to life. The 3-day affair began with a white party at Masseria Salamina where the couple arrived in a 1958 Lancia convertible. Soon after the party moved to the courtyard where guests danced for hours to a local quartet. The next day the couples 135 guests were treated to handmade cocktails, cold local beer, fresh sushi, and pasta l’assassina at Cala Maka and urged to dip into the Adriatic. To cap off a magical week, Ian and Lacey hosted their ceremony and wedding party at Masseria San Nicola, making sure to use every corner of the property to its full potential. Valeria Miccolis married the couple in the Masseria’s olive grove before guests were treated to an antipasti feast complete with a three piece band. The main gates to the grand courtyard were then opened just as the sun began to set.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Ian and Lacey Solnick bonded quickly over a shared passion for enjoying great food and wine, with good friends, in beautiful places. After getting engaged at Monopoli’s Porto Antico, the pair quickly agreed that they would return to Puglia, Italy to tie the knot in front of their family and friends.[/field]

Modern Luxury in the Wild at the Heritage Fallbrook at Welburn Farms

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]Drawing inspiration from modern art and the natural beauty of Fallbrook, our styled shoot encapsulated the essence of modern luxury in the wild. The curves of the gourds grown on the Welburn Gourd Farm in Temecula and abstract forms of wavy sculptures guided our artistic direction, resulting in a stunning juxtaposition of natural beauty and modern design. The design blended clean lines with bold curves and created a look that was both minimal and timeless, yet brimming with untamed beauty.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Our color palette for this styled shoot is a harmonious blend of white, green, golden yellow and a light mauve pink, chosen to evoke a sense of modern elegance intertwined with the natural world. The crisp white represents purity and simplicity, while the lush green reflects the vibrant surroundings of the farm. The soft mauve and golden yellow add a touch of romance and sophistication, tying together the elements in a delicate balance that enhances the overall aesthetic of minimal luxury in a wild, untamed setting.[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]Nestled in the heart of the lush rolling hills of Fallbrook, our styled wedding shoot took place on an exclusive piece of the enchanting Welburn Gourd Farm. This farmland offered a serene and picturesque backdrop with jaw-dropping views. It perfectly encapsulates the essence of modern luxury in the wild. Surrounded by vibrant greenery and the wide open spaces, the location provided a stunning contrast to our clean, minimal design elements. The untamed beauty of the rolling hills combined with the farm’s unique charm made for an unforgettable venue that beautifully highlighted our artistic vision.[/field]

Its lavish design and dramatic puffy sleeves mirror the artistic curves of our vision. In contrast, the Sarah Seven gown features a sleek, tight corset with thin straps, offering a minimal aesthetic that exudes modern elegance and timeless simplicity. Together, these gowns perfectly capture the essence of luxury, femininity, and unique elegance, enhancing our theme of modern luxury in the wild.[/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The floral design for our styled wedding shoot was crafted by Siren Floral Co. Rachael is known for her intricate designs and creative touch. She beautifully captured the theme of modern luxury in the wild. A freestanding ceremony arch made from pink flowering magnolia branches stood as a stunning arch to frame the ceremony site.
The bouquet tabletop florals featured an exquisite blend of flowers: delicate lady slipper orchids with their intricate patterns, striking fritillaria flowers in deep purples, elegant hellebores in plum and chartreuse showcasing their rich and moody hues. To enhance the decor, we pulled in fruits such as soft golden gourds from the farm, luscious kiwis, green chayote, and exotic passion fruits. This added a lush, organic table that perfectly complemented the untamed beauty of the Welburn Gourd Farm setting.[/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]We subtly incorporated curves into our minimalist design, elevating its allure. From the natural contours of the gourds to the puffy sleeves and the sinuous jewelry by Crevette Design Studios, each element contributed to a cohesive aesthetic. The shape of the magnolia ceremony arch and the presence of grapes on the tabletop further reinforced this theme, adding depth and sophistication to the overall look.[/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]As a designer, my tip is to cultivate a strong vision for your project and stick to it. Define your aesthetic, theme, and goals clearly from the outset, and use them as guiding principles throughout the design process.

Additionally, surround yourself with vendors and collaborators whom you trust and enjoy working with. Building a team of like-minded professionals who share your vision and values will not only streamline communication and execution but also enhance the overall creative experience and result in a more cohesive and successful outcome.

Trust in your vision and your team, and let them bring your dream to life.[/field]

Coastal Neutrals and Understated Elegance in Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

The coastal dream of Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard was itself the inspiration for the design. The traditional New England coastal manor was the perfect setting for an elevated soiree, brought to life by Britt Jones Co. Completed by a soft blue palette and delicate florals, this wedding was an homage to the understated elegance of Martha’s Vineyard itself.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Inspired by the florals that bloom in Edgartown in the spring, the hydrangea-forward arrangements filled wicker baskets and bud vases to create a chic minimalistic design. The soft blues, greens, and whites of a New England summer carried through all of the stationery pieces, the place settings, and the decor. The sailboat escort table was a show-stopper, hand painted by Courtney Kibby Designs. Every intentional design element felt cozy and coastal, including the “Coastal Grandmother” signature cocktail and hand painted lamps on the bar. [/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]My favorite design elements were the tiny, thoughtful, and personal details. The “Coastal Grandmother” signature cocktail was served with fresh sprigs of lavender, which grow naturally on Watchmere’s property. Martha’s Vineyard is a haven for sailing, and the sailboat escort display was breathtaking and intentional. Even the cheeky cocktail napkins that reflected the spirit of the signature cocktail were perfection. The day was filled with small details that brought together the elegant celebration. [/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]This coastal elegant wedding can be achieved through a soft color palette, stunning florals throughout, and a commitment to small, personal details. Chic stationery that is perfectly on-theme ties together the elegant design, and understated luxury, which is the definition of Martha’s Vineyard, is essential to this design aesthetic. [/field]

The vision for this wedding was to create a timeless and romantic celebration that highlighted the natural beauty of the surroundings. The blush and ivory colors symbolized love and purity, while the greenery added a touch of nature’s tranquility. The goal was to craft an event that was elegant yet approachable, sophisticated yet heartfelt. [field title=”Proposal Story”]”I vividly remember that moment when we were sitting on our sofa after spending Thanksgiving with the family. We were very happy during that holiday season at our new place, starting our life together, and trying to avoid conversations about my work contract finishing soon and the need to figure out my future plan. It was frightening for us both, and that day Will told me that he wanted to spend his life with me, and that I was the one for him. I realized I felt the same way.

I rarely thought about the future. The last 10 years I lived with the phrase “let’s cross the bridge when it comes,” and here I was – realizing how deeply I was in love with Will, and I couldn’t even think about my life without him. That was the most sentimental and romantic evening of my life. From that moment, our lives changed. We were committed to each other without a question.

Sometime in January, Will took the day off, and we went ring shopping. Champagne, rings, and a diamond lecture – that was so much fun, one of the best days ever. A couple of weeks later, he asked me to go check out the sunset on the roof of our building. I was so surprised to see the flowers and champagne, I thought it was just a romantic date, and then he went down on one knee.

I couldn’t even hear what he was saying. I was so astonished, happy, and deeply in love…

When people asked me if I expected Will to propose, I didn’t know what to say. We had expressed to each other before that we were committed to each other, we went ring shopping together, but you can’t help being surprised, excited, and shocked when the man of your life gets down on one knee and you know “this is it.” You can’t be prepared for all these emotions because it happens in your life just once, and you can’t predict it.”

Celebrating The Vibrancy of Mexican Culture at This Autumn Wedding Day in Austin

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The pair honored their Mexican heritage & culture throughout their entire wedding day celebration.

To amplify the heart of the design, a palette inspired by the Mexican landscape painted the day in hues of terracotta, cobalt blue and cream. These colors not only paid homage to Mexican tradition but also brought an invigorating energy to every corner of the venue.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

In partnership with their wedding designer and planner, LBV Design House, Diana and Marco embarked on a journey to create a day that merged the vibrancy of Mexican culture with the elegance of a wedding celebration. Transforming The LBJ Wildflower Center into a Mexican courtyard haven, the couple chose a location that seamlessly blended timeless sophistication with the warmth of Mexican aesthetics. Cacti-lined pathways, papel picado banners, and terracotta accents set the stage for an unforgettable celebration for Diana and Marco’s intimate guest count.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Marco had already ordered the ring and was planning to propose when my mom was visiting town. I was having a really difficult time with a health scare and Marco wanted to show how much he loved me and would support me through whatever I was going through. I ended up getting good results back, but he wanted to make my week even better so he proposed the day the ring came in cause he couldn’t wait! He proposed at butler park in downtown Austin.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Beyond the beautiful design and intentional detail, the couple curated a wedding experience that tantalized the taste buds with a selection of Mexican desserts. From churros, pan dulce and tres leches, the individually served dessert spread at this wedding was a delicious tribute to the rich and diverse flavors of Mexico.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Our florals were by the talented truth and blooms. We wanted an ombré meadow for the aisle, white florals blended to orange and peach tone florals. Our altar florals were in vintage Turkish pots rented from loot. We wanted the design of the ceremony to look like a Mexico City courtyard. We also had papel picado hanging from above!

Diana and Marco’s special day unfolded as a tribute to their love for heritage and design, capturing the essence of Mexico’s rich traditions through the inclusion of a live mariachi band, personalized maracas and custom designed mojigangas sourced directly from San Miguel de Allende. The couple’s unique personality continued to shine through in thoughtful details that adorned the venue. From monogrammed napkins that read “Los Zambranos”, to custom-designed bars and signage, every aspect of the wedding reflected the couple’s journey and shared interests.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The couple fed each other churros! To reflect Marco’s heritage!

We wanted a tres leches cake (a tradition in marcos family) but we weren’t able to have that kind of cake make in the shape I wanted with multiple tiers, so we had quakenbush design a cake cake and then had our caterer served tres leches dessert cups and churros![/field]

A Wedding Photographer’s Guide on How to Pose for Wedding Photos

On your wedding day, the last thing you want is to worry about minute details for getting the dreamy, romantic shots.  Investing in the right photographer will definitely ensure that you have the wedding photos of your dreams, but is there a way to enhance your posing for these images? The answer is a resounding yes, and I am sharing with you the same exact tips I share with my couples before their wedding day!

Trust Your Wedding Photographer

This likely goes without saying, but I want you to understand that none of this works if you do not trust your wedding photographer.  Trust that they understand the perfect light, location, and styling to give you the images you crave.  Trust their process, and trust their art. You will be pleasantly surprised with the result when you allow your photographer the space to just create.

Get Cozy

One of my biggest rules of posing, is that unless I give you instructions not to, you need to get cozy with your partner! This means a lot of touching, getting nice and close, and finding moments of comfort next to your partner. Hands and arm holding are an easy way to stay cozy.  If you’re nervous, let that hand/arm hold be your space of comfort. You might feel better even angling your body closer to your partner to create closeness.  This is not to say you should be completely on top of each other, but more that you want to have moments of affection, closeness, space for intimate moments to create themselves.

Don’t Over Practice

Something I hear from time to time is that couples will practice everything from their smile, to how they walk, to how they stand in their images.  Personally, I just do not find this necessary.  Your photographer should be well adept in posing you in the most flattering way for you and your partner, just trust that.  There are a few posing tips you can definitely practice – kissing with your eyes closed, lightly kissing, and okay, let’s be honest, it’s okay to practice a few smiles as well. Just do not let it consume you to the point that you have stressed yourself out over it!

Let Love Lead the Way

At the end of the day, your wedding day photos should reflect who you are as individuals and as a couple – a celebration of your union.  Let that love shine through your photos. Try to put the stress and anxiety of the day out of your head, and let the moments that are just focused on your love lead the session with your photographer.   Seriously, you will be so glad you did!

Posing for your wedding day photos is your photographer’s job, so take this one off of your plate.  Come prepared with an open heart and mind, and address any areas of concern with your photographer in the weeks leading up to your wedding day so they are aware and ready to put your mind at ease. Trust me, it will be the best day of your life – enjoy and let your photographer simply snap away!

Modern Romance in the Heart of the Eternal City at Hotel de Russie

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

We felt inspired by the historic backdrop of the Hotel de Russie and its picturesque “Secret Garden” designed by Giuseppe Valadier in the XIX century. Our shoot blends a sense of old-world charm meets modern romance and we leaned into the charm of Rome, with its cobblestone streets, historic architecture, timeless beauty, and rich heritage.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]For our color palette, we chose soft pastels in shades of blush, peach, lavender, and soft blue, complemented by lush greenery. These hues brought a gentle, dreamy quality to the shoot, perfectly reflecting the delicate balance between whimsy and sophistication.[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]Hotel de Russie, the legendary Roman jewel of the Rocco Forte Hotel group, is situated along the elegant Via del Babuino between two of Rome’s most famous piazzas, Piazza di Spagna and Piazza del Popolo. At the foot of the Pincio hill and mere steps from the picturesque Via Margutta, Hotel de Russie boasts an incomparably central position in the heart of the Eternal City. With its luxurious interiors and lush gardens, this grand venue provided a setting that effortlessly combines enchanting elegance with a sense of intimate romance. We adored it’s secluded corners to its expansive views of Rome.

The internal remodel of the historic building was done by Architect Tommaso Ziffer with the oversight of Olga Polizzi, Design Director for Rocco Forte Hotels. Tommaso Ziffer conceived and developed an eclectic interior design scheme inspired by various styles from the international panorama of hotellerie which plays out as a unique fusion between history and modernity, where even the most contemporary concepts blend perfectly with the classic architecture of the building.

We had the honor of shooting in their Nijinsky Suite, the hotel’s infamous presidential Suite. Dedicated to and inspired by esteemed ballet dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky, it is the Hotel de Russie’s largest suite with two bedrooms and boasts a 240m2 private terrace overlooking the hotel’s private garden, and affording breathtaking views of Villa Borghese, the Pincio Terrace, and the striking rooftops of Rome. Vibrant and refined, the presidential suite fuses distinctive contemporary furnishings with the utmost in classical luxury, combining elegance and harmony – features of the Russian dancer’s life – with a careful eye to detail and absolute comfort. It was truly remarkable

A Timeless California Wedding in Carmel Valley at Bernardus Lodge

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]White and shades of green [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]From the bride:
From the beginning, I wanted something elegant that felt upscale but comfortable – very California chic. I love green (as does Isaac) and it felt minimal and classic without going for a more stark and trendy black and white, or opting for a color that would stand out more. Working with Hudson Paperie to put together our custom stationery was a highlight, and it really helped set the tone and form the design for everything else. Bernardus is already beautiful and has a gorgeous backdrop, so playing into the garden theme felt just right. The rentals from Theoni really aided the European look, with our antique bar and hutch setups for cocktail hour, as well as the mix of traditional and modern pieces I chose for the lounge setups. The florals from Gavita Flora were absolutely perfect. The creams/whites and greenery played off the surroundings and our décor to really pull it all together. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the bride:
Our proposal was one of the most incredible days we’ve ever shared – and such a wonderful surprise! We had brought some friends to visit my family for the weekend and planned to show them around Santa Clara University, where we met and fell in love. Unbeknownst to me, Isaac had other plans for our visit. As we parked and started walking, I noticed he was acting a little nervous. We walked into the Mission Gardens, a favorite spot on campus known for its beautiful rose bushes, and I saw scattered rose petals under the gazebo.
In that moment, I realized what was happening. Isaac knelt down and popped the question! Overjoyed, I immediately said yes. It was the sweetest proposal, bringing us back to where we met, became friends, and fell in love. I was reeling, still processing it all, and ecstatic to be engaged! Isaac had arranged for a photographer to capture the moment, and then we took more photos around the campus.
We had plans to meet up with my family for dinner, but I was so excited and wanted to call and tell my friends and family right away! Isaac convinced me to enjoy the moment and call everyone later that evening after dinner. I agreed – but I had no idea what was in store for us.
When we got to the restaurant, we were taken to a private room, and the doors opened to reveal all of our family and closest friends waiting for us! It was the biggest surprise (after the proposal, of course) and I was absolutely shocked to see so many friends and family who had flown in to celebrate with us. We had the most incredible night with our loved ones, creating one of my favorite memories together. I couldn’t have asked for anything better – it was perfect!

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]From the bride:
I absolutely loved my wedding dress. As a little girl, I had always imagined my fairytale wedding, and when I put on the dress I chose, it felt like that vision had come to life. The gorgeous Monique Lhuillier dress immediately caught my eye at Bridal Galleria in San Francisco. The lace design and subtle sparkle captivated me as the light hit it just right. The pattern was perfect for our outdoor, European-inspired vineyard wedding, and I could vividly picture the train trailing behind me as I walked down the rose garden aisle at our venue. I knew I had to try it on.
I loved how the dress looked on me, but I wasn’t initially sure it was the one. I was torn between it and another Monique Lhuillier design. However, its effortless, light skirt and intricate details felt more “me” than the other, which featured more structured lace. As I stood there, the consultant mentioned a matching long-sleeve piece that could be added and removed, which immediately piqued my interest. I had been considering different looks for the ceremony and reception, and loved the idea of transforming my dress without needing an entirely different outfit for the reception.
We returned a second time so I could try the dress with a jacket borrowed from the designer. As soon as I put it on with the jacket, I knew it was perfect. It was the ideal mix of elegant, sophisticated, soft, and feminine that I had been looking for. Nora at Noliza Wedding Gown Alterations in San Francisco tailored the dress to fit me perfectly, and it was a dream to wear on my wedding day. I completed the look with beautiful white pointed-toe pumps from Jimmy Choo.
[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]From the bride:
The bridesmaid dresses were from BHLDN by Anthropologie, and I absolutely loved their deep olive-green color and elegant silhouette. The green perfectly matched our wedding colors of white and green, creating a timeless look. I thought the color and style would look beautiful on all my bridesmaids, and they did! Everyone looked stunning, and I’m thrilled with how the dresses paired with the groomsmen’s tuxes for a cohesive, classic look.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]From the bride:
Isaac and I had so much fun choosing our signature cocktails. One of Isaac’s long-time favorites is a Gold Rush, which inspired his “Golden Hour” cocktail. The bourbon, honey, and lemon are some of his favorite flavors, so it was only fitting that his signature drink on our wedding day featured all three!
My signature cocktail, which we named “Strawberry Love,” took a bit more time to perfect. I wanted something summery, fresh, and easy to drink for our late June wedding—something that reflected what I love. My dad, a great home mixologist, helped us brainstorm ideas one evening, and we landed on a sophisticated strawberry daiquiri-inspired drink. It was perfect for me, as I love strawberries and have been visiting Kauai with my family for many years (we even went to Kauai for part of our honeymoon!). Including Koloa Rum from Kauai added a wonderful personal touch.
The drink turned out wonderfully and provided a beautiful contrast to Isaac’s signature cocktail – and both were delicious!
[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]From the bride:
From the beginning, I wanted something elegant that felt upscale but comfortable – very California chic. I love green (as does Isaac) and it felt minimal and classic without going for a more stark and trendy black and white, or opting for a color that would stand out more. Working with Hudson Paperie to put together our custom stationery was a highlight, and it really helped set the tone and form the design for everything else. The florals from Gavita Flora were absolutely perfect. The creams/whites and greenery played off the surroundings and our décor to really pull it all together. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]From the bride:
Tart + Tin created the wedding cake of our dreams. The design was simple, elegant, and beautiful, with smooth white icing and fresh florals cascading diagonally down the side of the three tiers. Alexis decorated the cake beautifully on our wedding day with blooms from our florist, Gavita Flora.
We opted for two flavors. The first was one of Tart + Tin’s spectacular signature flavors, Brown Butter-Salted Caramel. The other was a custom combination of Meyer Lemon and Brown Butter. The salted caramel cake was perfectly salty and toasty-sweet, with a delicious richness from the brown butter-flecked frosting. We knew this flavor would be a crowd pleaser! The custom flavor, which we sampled at our cake tasting, featured fresh Meyer lemon cake with a bright Meyer lemon curd that paired incredibly well with the nutty aroma of the brown butter frosting.
Both Isaac and I agreed that it is still the best cake we’ve ever had, wedding or otherwise! We’re so happy with how it turned out, both in flavor and design.
[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]From the bride:
Our First Dance song was “Love Like This” by Ben Rector. We both love Ben Rector, and this beautiful song perfectly captured our love in such a sweet and meaningful way. For my walk down the aisle, I chose “Turning Page” by Sleeping At Last. It’s a stunning piece, and hearing it played by Sutro Strings, our fantastic string quartet, made the moment feel incredibly real and emotional.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]From the bride:
My dad and stepmom, Pat, collect classic cars and were kind enough to let us use their beautiful 1955 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud as our getaway car. It sat out front of Bernardus throughout our wedding weekend, adding a touch of vintage charm to the festivities. Being driven off in it at the end of the night felt like a true fairytale ending and was so much fun![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]From the bride:
A special aspect of the wedding planning process was the custom stationery provided by Hudson Paperie. Working with Chelsey was a dream! I had always envisioned a cohesive stationery suite that matched from the save-the-dates to the day-of items like menus and place cards at our reception. This vision was brought to life with carefully selected colors, showcasing soft olive greens and creams that perfectly told the color story of our wedding. Everything turned out beautifully and tied our event together in a way that was incredibly meaningful to me.[/field]

A New England Summer Wedding Complete With Rattan Details

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Sophie & Nate’s wedding day featured a mix of pale blues, white, and soft green florals. The reception space also displayed stunning rattan elements and floral patterned tablecloths. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Overall the vision was a chic New England summer vibe, emulating where the happy couple first met – at camp. The reception area featured a few canoes filled with cocktail hour drinks and the table numbers were nautical “blowing in the wind” flags. Even the featured cocktails were summer-inspired [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]The story of Sophie and Nathan begins in Fryeburg, Maine in 2007– two brace-faced tween campers meet for the first time. It is still unconfirmed, but rumors are that the Groom sent the Bride his first “Pony” (an intercamp handwritten love-letter) way back then…

The First Chapter: Summer Lovin’

Fast forward 5 years to July 4th, 2012—a kiss under a firework filled sky on top of Jockey Cap mountain solidifies the new “couple”. It is also decided that Sophie and Nathan were not just going to be a summer fling… One final Pony in August confirmed that the couple was going to carry on post-Summer, and “see where things go…”—which begins our next chapter.

The Distance Chapter: High School Sweethearts to College Couple

Junior and Senior years’ ACT prep and college counseling sessions were now taking place in between late night facetimes and flights to DC and Dallas. There were homecomings and winter formals with the Hockaday gals; concerts and sweet 16s with the DC boys. Though they now came through USPS instead of the Pony Express, the Ponys continued, and the love inside of them grew stronger by the day.

Then the “King and Queen” graduated High School, and the trips moved to Winston-Salem and Georgetown; ACT prep and college counseling was replaced with Tri Delt date functions and lacrosse games on Cooper Field (Go Hoyas). There were 2am taco nights on Ewing Street and post-game parties at 3208 Prospect. Now they were delivered by hand at the beginning or end of a trip, but the Ponys continued, and the love inside of them grew stronger every day.

The Manhattan Chapter: “Start Spreading the News… Your Favorite Couple is Here to Stay”

After graduation in 2018, and 6 years of being long distance, Sophie and Nathan finally share the same zip code: —Tribeca, NYC. Sorority parties and lacrosse games became double-dates and soul cycle classes together. There were week-day date nights at Bar Pitti and Sunday strolls to Trader Joes. 3 years later, Sophie and Nathan finally share the same address: Apt 31E. Date night became every night at the kitchen table, and the Trader Joe’s shopping list was now for two instead of one.

Then, exactly 3,461 days after that first kiss, the shortest pony was the start of the longest and never-ending chapter; popping the question: “Will you marry me?”

The Next Chapter: September 2, 2023—It’s Time to Say, “I Do”[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Sophie wore a gorgeous Sareh Nouri dress. The strapless gown featured white floral appliqués that suited the bride and matched not only the florals but the overall summer vibe of the wedding day![/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Sophie’s bridesmaids wore a mix of bright colors and patterns – with no two dresses the same! Some dresses had floral patterns, while others were solid colored but featured fun fringe, ruffles, or feathers. Colors ranged from hot pink and turquoise blue to a soft yellow and green. [/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Nate’s groomsmen wore classic navy blue suits with a light blue pattern tie (similar to the colors found in the reception space). The groom himself was sporting a white tux with a black bowtie. The ring bearers stole the show in their matching blue suits, patterned pocket square and light blue loafers! [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The food at cocktail hour was a spread of bites from Sophie & Nate’s years together, including mini griddled pastrami sandwiches and pretzel bites with spicy mustard as a homage to NYC. For Maine, there were lobster rolls and blueberry biscuits and corn chowder. The signature drinks were also New England themed, with a Wild Maine Blueberry vodka concoction and a classic summer Aperol Spritz. The bright colors of both drinks perfectly matched the bridesmaids’ ensembles! [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Flowers everywhere!! Sophie had a truly incredible vision of light blue and white florals mixed in with plenty of greenery. Almost every table was cascading with them, in addition to the tent corners and edges. For the ceremony, the aisle was lined with the same floral arrangement and the jewish chuppah adorned a tasteful display across the front. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The best way to describe the wedding cake is a blend between Sophie’s wedding dress and bouquet! Crafted by a local bakery, the all-white cake featured floral appliqués just like the bridal gown and then had small clusters of the pale blue flowers on all three tiers. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The grand exit featured a fun exit via John Deer tractor – complete with a just married sign and lights! [/field]

Coral Charm Peonies and Something Blue at Cannon Green in Charleston

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Becca and Tucker’s gorgeous Summertime Charleston wedding featured the perfect color palette — shades of blue for the bridesmaids and pops of bright color for the florals. The bride’s bouquet was fully white, with the bridesmaids’ bouquets having lighter tones, and the reception florals being bold and colorful.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Having a wedding at Cannon Green means you want a little European touch to your wedding day, and combining that with the perfection of downtown Charleston gave the couple the Summertime wedding of their dreams! The couple wanted an intimate gathering where their closest family and friends came together to celebrate an awesome relationship in an (almost) equally as awesome location.[/field]

East Coast Wedding Inspiration With “Emily in Paris” Aesthetic at the Mount

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]Channeling the effortless chic and whimsical charm of “Emily in Paris,” this editorial captures the essence of Parisian elegance. The bride’s gown, with its layers of delicate tulle and subtle lavender hue, is reminiscent of the couture fashion seen on the streets of Paris, France. Paired with a bouquet of pastel blooms, the bridal look is both modern and timeless, embodying the playful yet sophisticated spirit of the beloved show and city known for romance and fashion.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The exquisite lavender gown was the starting point and inspiration for the vision of this editorial for Cora from Cora Jane Photography and Lisa from Nightingale Events. The cake artist designed the cake to delicately mirror the movement and flow of the layers of tulle and color of the gown. The florals, table scape, paper goods and other design elements brought in the purples and pastels with touches of yellows and golds to complement.[/field]

A Tangerine and Amber Boho Wedding in Cabo

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Blush pink, tangerine, amber[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Hannah and Alex’s destination wedding in Cabo was full of modern boho vibes around every corner. They kicked off the celebration with a ceremony featuring whimsical, larger-than-life florals in Mexico sunset shades for the perfect al fresco vows. Afterwards, guests headed to cocktail hour under hanging rattan lanterns where they sipped signature cocktails (featuring tequila and mezcal of course!) at cozy lounges. For dinner, the Mexico sunset color palette continued, with tables set with details in shades like blush pink, tangerine, and amber. An epic after party full of live entertainment kept the party going all night long![/field]

Margarita’s With My Senorita’s

Editor’s Note: If ever there was a time for an ice cold margarita, August would be it. The temps, the back to school chaos, the fleeting Summer sun…all feel better while sipping on a tart, tequila laced treat. Read on for a riffs on the classic margarita and a little visual prettiness to prompt a margarita party of your very own.

SIP SIP HOORAY
When it comes to a Cinco de Mayo celebration tequila and mezcal are obviously in order and one the of the greatest gifts the Mexican culture has bestowed upon us Americans, is our namesake, the Margarita.

There are so many unique recipes my friends and I try to step outside of our comfort zone and try new ones. Serving on the rocks is the easiest and most popular margarita these days. Here are our drinks of choice:

THE DRINKS

Señorita Mezcal Margarita

A pink cocktail that packs a delightfully sweet and smokey punch
Serves:: 2 drinks

INGREDIENTS
2 oz Mezcal Tequila
4 oz Pink Grapefruit Juice
1 oz Simple Syrup
Splash of Cranberry Juice
Fresh Mint
Dash of Lime Juice

INSTRUCTIONS
Fill shaker with ice cubes. Add tequila, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup
Shake and strain into chilled rocks glasses filled with ice cubes. Pour Cranberry juice over each glass. Garnish with fresh mint.

“HabaVod Not-So-Chata”

Serves:: Makes about 1 quart Horchata ( 10 cocktails)
1. 5 oz Hanson’s of Sonoma Habanero Vodka Horchata
3 oz Horchata (recipe below)
Instructions: Combine both ingredients with ice in a shaker. Shake and Strain into
Garnish: Shaved Cinnamon and Cinnamon Stick

Homemade Horchata:

INGREDIENTS
6 tablespoons long-grain white rice
1 1/4 cup whole blanched almonds
1 cinnamon stick
Large pinch of kosher salt
1 cup granulated sugar

INSTRUCTIONS
The night before serving. Add white long-grain rice to a spice grinder and pulverize. Transfer pulverized rice to a large bowl, and then add the almonds and cinnamon stick. Stir ingredients in 2 1/2 cups hot water, cover, and let stand for at least 6 hours. (Enjoy a cold beer why you wait). Next: Waking up the next morning after finishing off the 12-pk you bought the night before, remove the cinnamon sticks and discard. Puree the mixture in a blender until it’s no longer gritty (about 4 minutes). Add 2 cups water and blend for a few seconds more. Next, set a large sieve lined with 3 layers of dampened cheesecloth over a medium bowl. Pour the almond rice mixture in, a little at a time, stirring gently to help the liquid pass through, and then gather up the corners of the cheesecloth and squeeze out all the liquid. Stir sugar and salt into the strained liquid. Cover and refrigerate. Stir before pouring into making cocktails.

THE SCENE

I don’t know about you but we love pretty things and for this particular soiree, was inspired by pretty bright pops of color and elegant decor. The shirt “Margarita’s for my señoritas was the main source of inspiration and to bring our party to life, we sprinkled pops of bright vibrant blooms, beautiful bowls filled with Chips and Guacamole thanks to The Little Market, vibrant signage, and menus thanks to Courtnee at Shimmer and Stain and lounge seating full of warm cream fabrics, marble, jute, wicker and gold touches adding the perfect high-end cherry on top. Perfectly paired with our colorful cocktails. More photos upon request*

Something Blue Wedding on the Beautiful Island of Maui

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Blue, white and green [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Aubrey and Randall visited Maui in January of 2020 and set their wedding date for May 2021.  With both being Doctors in Southern California they then needed to push back another year due to the pandemic.  For this long anticipated event, they wanted a laid back, intimate celebration, with their closest friends and family.  A mix of dark wood round and long tables surrounded the dance floor with lots of twinkle lights above.  Blue was the main color for their wedding day and could be seen throughout the ceremony and reception.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]We were on a trip to Sri Lanka. On our last day, we went to Marissa beach. It was valentine’s day and we spent the day relaxing on the beach and picking fruit at the local market (one of Aubrey’s favorite travel activities). At sunset, we went for a walk along the beach. There was a small island of rocks along the water. We climbed down and Randall got on one knee and proposed. It started to rain and our friend Brian (groomsmen) was with us and took pictures. We had dinner on the beach and the skies cleared up so we could enjoy the stars together.[/field]
