An Ethereal English Country Garden Wedding in Australia at Redleaf Wollombi

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Pastels with an emphasis on pinks, creams, blush and periwinkle blue. It had to be floaty, feminine, soft and delicate.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

I knew I wanted it to be absolutely romantic, like an ethereal English country garden. When I collated the inspiration pictures I had collected for months, I could see that they were all very floral-heavy, a very soft colour palette, and that I was really drawn to an aesthetic that had a little bit of an overgrown and rambling look to it. I left it in the hands of our absolutely wonderful wedding planner, Christie from Haus of Hera, and together with our florist, she created something beyond my wildest dreams.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]In 2021, Covid lockdowns were still prevalent in Australia and Jarrad and I were stuck in different states for six months at a time. We had one week to reunite in the middle of the year, so I had booked us an Airbnb on a little island so we could spend some quality time together. Unbeknownst to me, Jarrad had been designing a ring, and he thought he would capitalise on our time together to propose. He asked me to pack something nice, so that we could get a photo together. When I went to see what he had packed, it was his best suit, so I was a little suspicious. I only became more curious when we almost missed the ferry and he got increasingly nervous, but we made it on time, and the rest is history![/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]My wedding dress was something I had thought about for YEARS before Jarrad actually proposed, and I had been saving every photo that took my fancy for some time, but none of them felt like “the one” for me. Like so many girls before me, I loved the timeless beauty of Grace Kelly’s wedding dress, but I thought that the skirt in particular would look too heavy and structured on me, and I wanted the lightness of a lace bodice to continue into the skirt. I also knew that I didn’t want a train, because we would (weather permitting), be outdoors for the whole day, and I wanted something that felt practical enough to actually move around in. I went for a consult at the Leah da Gloria Atelier in Sydney, and she drew up my dream dress on the spot, then patiently went through swatches of lace until we both felt that we had landed on one that would really compliment the design. I was in the best hands with Leah and her team, and the finished product was better than I could have hoped for.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]One of the most important things to me was that my friends felt like a million dollars on the day as well. I had three girls, all with different tastes and body types, so I started the search about 12 months in advance, and almost immediately found these buttery Manning Cartell dresses that I thought would be perfect for all three of them, and they all agreed. I knew that I wouldn’t find anything I loved more, so I ordered them immediately. I still love them just as much as the first time I saw them.[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Jarrad wanted to wear something classic and special, so after some research, he went to see The Bespoke Corner tailors in Sydney. They talked him through every step of selecting his suit, and I added personalised cufflinks as a wedding present.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]By the time our wedding rolled around, we had the pleasure and privilege of being invited to quite a few others, and we had experienced some wonderful food and some not-so-wonderful food. I knew that Jarrad really wanted something special for our wedding, and so even though we had only every discussed a traditional three course dinner, when I stumbled across the Italian tasting menu from Fennel & Co, I knew it was the perfect fit for us. We did a tasting ahead of the wedding and were absolutely thrilled.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Flowers were such a central design element, and we were so lucky to find a florist and wedding planner who were so intent on executing our vision perfectly. Our wedding planner showed me some photos she’d found of reception tables nestled amongst flowers, almost as though they were in the middle of a garden. The way in which our florist brought this to life was one of my favourite things about our day.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Choosing a cake was probably one of the hardest elements of wedding planning for us, because neither of us wanted anything with fondant or modelling chocolate. We had seen a few photos of one metre diameter single-layer cakes, and we started thinking that this would be the biggest impact and best tasting option. We only had a guest count of 45, so it really was overkill, but we both loved it for the visual impact, and the leftovers we got to take home.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]I walked down the aisle to “Turning Page” by Sleeping at Last, which makes me cry every time I hear it, and seemed fitting considering we had spent the four years prior to our wedding living in different states and managing a long-distance relationship.
I’m a ballet teacher, and I felt a lot of pressure to get our First Dance exactly right. In the end, I let Jarrad choose it from a tutorial website, knowing that he would be far more comfortable that way. We boogied to “Do You Love Me” by The Contours. We had so much fun learning it together, and that is as much of a special memory as performing it on the day. I will say that Jarrad’s version of the routine was highly embellished by the time it got to the big day.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]For the reception and dancing, I changed into a shorter, feathered dress and some bedazzled sneakers. Besides being such a fun outfit, being able to dance properly was really important to me. I’m so glad I was in something so comfortable, as it meant I could really enjoy my night without the distraction of sore feet or the worry of people stepping on my wedding dress.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]As our wedding drew closer, I was so worried about our wedding invitations, because I knew I wanted something custom and illustrated, and finding the perfect fit seemed to be a bit elusive. Our wedding planner put us in touch with Quill Fine Art Creations, and they were a dream from start to finish. Our invitations were one of my favourite little keepsakes from our wedding day, and I loved that from the moment they opened them, our guests got a feel for the day and what to expect.[/field]

Eye-Catching Blooms and Iconic Bridal Style at This Nashville Affair

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Taber & Christopher’s ceremony colors were an elegant combination of blue & white. The bridesmaids wore beautiful blue gowns from Bella Bridesmaids & carried a single white Calla lily down the aisle. The iconic Hermitage Hotel, where the couple held their reception, perfectly complimented the minimally added reception touches of red, raspberry, purple, & green in the unique & eye catching floral arrangements.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]A handful of words come to mind when thinking of the overall design, vibe, & vision for Taber & Chris’ wedding day. Joyful. Classic. Angelic. Iconic. Fun. Sentimental. Personal. Both Taber & Chris deeply care about the people in their lives. The way they honored & interacted with their family & friends on their wedding day left everyone involved feeling seen, delighted in & loved. Their wedding day perfectly reflected their personal style & creativity, but also revealed the kind of life-giving, joy-filled, & humble people they truly are. It was an honor to witness & to capture.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Chris proposed at one of their favorite and most cherished pieces of land on Grand Lake in Oklahoma known as “Paradise Point.” This spot has been in Tabor’s family for years. Generations have made memories on this piece of land! It is where Taber, her mom, her grandmother, and great grandmother all learned to water ski! On August 4th, 2023, Chris had a custom bench, bible, and pictures of their passed loved ones all seated where the water breaks to the rocks. He held Taber’s hand and walked her down to the edge of the water where he sat her down, read pieces of scripture they love, and then asked for her hand in marriage. It was perfect and so “them”! The feeling in that moment was something Taber said she would never forget.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Taber’s wedding dress was found at Mark Ingram Bridal in New York City and was a Stephane Rolland design! This bride is deeply passionate about fashion and loves incorporating really cool structures and sculpture like details into everything she wears! Stephane Rolland is a designer that does just that with her wedding gowns! Taber’s gown was a full length white crepe mermaid dress with a boat neck-line, open-back, and sculptural “orchid sleeves” in Gazar. It was the last dress she tried on & was absolutely perfect and everything she dreamed of! [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bridesmaids look was highly inspired by the mother of the bride’s bridesmaid dresses she picked when she got married in 1995. Taber said she knew she loved the look of a 90’s bridesmaid, but especially loved the classiness of the way her mom’s bridesmaids looked. She, the MOB, had her bridesmaids wear a strapless light blue satin A-line, added a silk scarf around their arms, and finished off the look with satin gloves that matched. When Taber was deciding what her girls would wear, she kept going back to how classy and timeless her mom’s bridesmaids looked & how the look had stood the test of time. With that thought, Taber wanted to honor her mom and recreate the look! With hair slicked back into ballerina buns, light blue satin twill strapless dresses, and short white lace and satin gloves, they were able to do just that. “They looked like Cinderella. The classiest and most beautiful group of girls I am honored to call friends!”, Taber said.[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Sticking with the classiness aspect of the entire wedding attire, Taber knew she wanted the boys in a traditional black and white tux. “There is something about this that will always stand the test of time and makes any man look so handsome!”, She said. All the groomsmen wore a black bow tie and Chris, the groom, wore a white bow tie. It was perfect detail to make sure the groom stood out from the rest of the groomsmen. [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Taber said, “When we sat down to plan our wedding, we made a list of “saves” and “splurges”. One of our “splurges” was definitely our food! We were asking all of our guests to travel to Nashville to celebrate with us, so we wanted to spoil them with an amazing dinner!” Taber & Chris did a four course meal starting with a wedge salad. The guests were then served a tomato soup followed by the main course, fillet mignon. Dessert was of course wedding cake! Guests still tell them it was one of the best meals they’ve ever had![/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The ceremony took place in a church, and the reception was held in a historical hotel in downtown Nashville known as “The Hermitage Hotel.” Taber had two very different floral visions for these two spaces. Both the bride & the groom really value their faith and wanted their ceremony to almost feel “angelic” as a way to display and honor that aspect of their lives. Taber said she wanted the presence of God to be known and felt. With that, they knew they wanted all white, airy, and beautiful flowers! The aisle was lined with as many Calla Lilies as possible, spilling installations of white florals draped the altar, and a beautiful white aisle runner was used to usher the bride & her father down to the awaiting groom. The reception space was so beautiful on its own as far as its interiors that Taber & Chris didn’t feel the need to fill it with flowers. They did minimal florals in the space, but the ones they did have were beautiful arrangements of red anthurium and other unique floral elements.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was a white, three tiered, almond flavor with vintage piping in buttercream icing! Taber’s favorite part of their wedding cake was the topper. It was her great grandfather and great grandmother’s cake topper from their wedding. “Also known as our “Nene & Papa.” I knew I wanted to honor as many loved ones as I could with our wedding day who had ultimately shaped us into being the couple that we were.” – Taber
Her Nene was an incredible artist and her papa was incredibly smart and business savvy. They have shaped Taber’s family in many ways and the cake was one way to honor them! [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The couple’s ceremony was incredibly special to them with songs and scriptures that played a huge part in their relationship. Two of Taber’s grandfathers and Chris’ dad read several scriptures they love including, 1 Corinthians 13: 4-13, Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12, and 2 Corinthians 4: 13-18. During their time of communion, Taber’s matron of honor and one of her best friends sang the beautiful hymnal, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”. While they sang, the couple took communion and silently prayed together over the future of their marriage. Taber said, “It is actually one of our favorite memories and pictures from our entire day.” For their reception, the couple knew they wanted to keep the energy high! Instead of slow dancing for their first dance they entered with, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston and saved their slow dance, “One day Tonight” by Hoah Thompson for their last dance of the night! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]”My “Mother-In-Love” as we like to say in our family, took apart her wedding dress and made my getting ready robe out of it! It was the most beautiful, special, and thoughtful gift to me. My sister in law had one too and we both got ready in her reconstructed dress! It was a beautiful way to honor her and something I will hold onto forever and pass onto my girls!” – Taber[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]”As a way to honor my mom, my reception dress was made from her wedding dress! She has beautiful taste and her dress had lace roses all over the top with a short sleeve ball gown silhouette! We used the underskirt fabric as the skirt part and then corseted the top! It was SO fun to dance in and my dad said he was doing double takes the whole night watching me dance!” – Taber[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]”Chris and I are both extremely sentimental and love our families, so it only made sense to incorporate this into my wedding ring! My ring has two diamonds on it, one of which belonged to my grandmother on my fathers side (our meme) and one which belonged to Chris’ grandmother on his mothers side (his meme). The band has blue sapphires which belonged to my Meme as well! Chris has always worn a bracelet that his grandfather gifted to him and is very special to him. For the gold the jeweler melted down that bracelet and used it to complete the ring. I will treasure my ring forever not only because it is so beautiful, but because it incorporates so many we love into one heirloom! What a gift!” – Taber[/field]

“Toile de Jouy” Linen and French Country Style in the Tropics

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

When the bride first met with Tatiana Angel, the wedding planner, she said “I would like a French vibe with a soft and romantic color palette”. After finding the “Toile de Jouy” linens everything evolved naturally, the invitations, the overall design of the event and the decor pieces and elements followed. A deep blue was the main color and the most predominant throughout the wedding contrasting with pastel colors such as soft blue, pink, nude, light yellow, and soft greens. The color palette was highlighted throughout the wedding through florals, bridesmaids dresses and bouquets. The bride was inspired by colors which could compliment and contrast with the tropical setting while maintaining a romantic Provence-like feel.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The bride was clear in her vision, she wanted a wedding completely in open air yet crafted to create an intimate experience for the bride, groom, and guests. She requested a romantic, French “Provence Style” vibe, uniquely situated in the laid back atmosphere of the Florida Keys. The biggest challenge for design was recreating a timeless elegant atmosphere on a tropical island. Intentional choices such as having the ceremony in a smaller area where the grass met the sand, and hosting a seated dinner with two long tables side by side, was how we created intimacy in such a large, spacious venue. The execution was perfect as one event flowed to the other from the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, to the reception, and the after-party (a silent disco by the pool!)

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]The bride and groom’s love story started in the groom’s hometown of San Diego, California. When they met, though they were drawn to each other, the two could have never predicted they’d be engaged within the year. After a few dinners, the groom insisted on a “two week trial” of serious dating– and the pair quickly fell in love. About six months from their first date, JJ crafted a well concealed, intimate proposal with just the two of them at their apartment in Dallas after a special date at Turtle Creek Mansion.

Timeless Style in Connecticut at Smith Farm Gardens

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Champagne and Sage, with tan/beige neutral[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The majority of the inspiration for the design came from the property of Smith Farm Gardens itself. With such a stunning backdrop, this couple wanted the style of the wedding to replicate and enhance the gorgeous, summery, garden-party aesthetics that already existed. They wanted everything to feel really light and airy, with neutrals and florals that played wonderfully together.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Long Beach Island, NJ, holds a special place in Shelby’s heart. Her family had vacationed there nearly her whole life, and Justin just knew that he was going to propose on their family vacation in August. Justin had initially planned to propose on the beach, but the weather had other plans. Between him and Shelby’s family, they had all sorts of signage made to signify the date of the proposal, so there was no turning back. The day went on, and the weather was still not cooperating. As the afternoon came,, Justin and her siblings decided to go to a local eatery on the bay for a drink. As they finished up, the sun was setting on quite literally the dreariest day, and it was at that point that Justin got down on one knee and proposed. Shelby (completely unaware) with her messy bun and t-shirt dress was completely surprised. Once they returned to their rental house, she realized that her family had set up an entire party full of gifts and champagne. Although NOTHING went according to plan, it was the perfect day. [field title=”Wedding Gown”]Shelby had fallen in love with a Made With Love gown she had seen on Tik Tok during the early planning days. However, there were very few dress shops near her that carried the brand, and even if they had carried the brand, they didn’t have that exact style of dress. She scheduled multiple appointments at other establishments and brought her family along, but found herself still thinking about that one particular gown. She finally tracked down the gown at Everthine Bridal in Madison, Connecticut (over two hours from where they lived). She took a road trip alone, tried on the dress, and bought it that same day.

Arrangements incorporated roses, ranunculus, eucalyptus, and more. The decor included a glass shelf champagne display, parasols, and a charcuterie display at Cocktail Hour.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The Wedding Cake was designed and made by Marble Made Cakes. When Shelby and Justin expressed that they would like to do an intimate cake cutting I recommended they work with Marble Made Cakes for a beautiful design that fit the overall vision and design of their day. [field title=”Special Detail #1″]The heirloom piece that was incorporated into the Bride’s bouquet was from her Popa who had passed. Her Popa was like a second father to the Bride. He was her best friend and fell ill quite quickly just days before my 17th birthday. They had no idea that he would be gone within a week of being sick. She has expressed that it was an incredibly difficult season of her life. Her brother Cobi had been gifted all of his gold, including that cufflink. He had brought it to the florist without the Bride’s knowledge and had it incorporated into her bouquet. Having a part of her Popa with her all day, physically and in spirit, was so special.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Our private last dance. We had everyone clear out of the tent (even the DJ) and the couple was able to share 3 minutes of completely uninterrupted time together before the night ended. It was intimate and emotional and was the best conclusion to the best day. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]A note from the couple: Being from the border of CT and NY, we wanted to explore both Hudson Valley and Connecticut options. Early on, we stumbled across Cora Jane Photography and fell head over heels with her photography style. It was at this time that we had seen a blog post she had done from a wedding at Smith Farm Gardens. Without even seeing the property in person, we knew Smith Farm was special. We had set up an intro call with Cora and expressed to her a few of the venues we were interested in, and Cora gave Smith Farm a glowing review. Unfortunately, we were only able to tour the venue in the dead of winter, however, we trusted Cora, and our gut and decided to book one of the two Saturdays they had left for 2023 and it did not disappoint. Kalinka and Adriano aimed for a classic and sophisticated wedding design. With all-white floral arrangements paired with fresh greenery and a neutral colour palette, they sought to create an experience for their guests that would remain timeless for years to come. The venue, Graydon Hall Manor, a historic Georgian-style manor built in 1936, added to the elegance of the event with its enchanting gardens and rich decor. The delicate feel of the soft tones and draping complemented the historical charm of the manor, a true fairytale come to life!

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Adriano and Kalinka, both Montreal natives, met in 2017 while living in Toronto. In 2020, Adriano proposed on a starlit evening at the Four Seasons Hotel in their beloved hometown. [field title=”Food & Drink”]Cocktail hour took place among the gardens of Graydon Hall which features a picturesque fountain within the centre. Guests were greeted with passed canapés as well as Kalinka and Adriano’s signature cocktails, a Skinny Spicy Margarita and Caipirinha.
Graydon Hall Manor is renowned for its exceptional in-house catering services provided by Couture Cuisine. For dinner, guests were treated to a seated four course meal on the terrace which included the choice of Grilled Aged Prime Strip Loin and Miso & Maple Glazed Black Cod. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Kalinka and Adriano’s wedding day was nothing short of a classic and timeliness dream. MUSE Event Co.’s Ellie Eccleton and designer Rachel A Clingen brought their vision to life. The goal was to give Kalinka and Adriano’s guests the feeling as though the abundance of white roses, outlining the ceremony aisle, had naturally grown from the grass where they were seated. To continue this vision throughout the evening, the soft taupe draping within the reception tent was an addition, giving Graydon Hall’s terrace a more delicate feel. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The couple chose a minimalistic, all-white wedding cake adorned with fondant layers that created a beautiful cascading texture designed by Bakeshoppe in Toronto.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Kalinka walked down the aisle to “From This Moment On” by Shania Twain and the newlywed’s recessional song was “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. [/field]

Capturing the Essence of Lake Como at Villa Cipressi

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

The real inspiration behind this event was capturing the essence of Lake Como and encapsulating it in a beautiful, effortless experience for the couple and all the guests. Every detail was centered around the colors, architecture, culture, and relationships unique to the area, only adding to and elevating what was right in front of us. Luxurious design elements complemented the stunning backdrop without overshadowing it, creating a natural and serene celebration. Our goal was to immerse everyone in the venue’s charm and tranquility, achieving a breathtakingly effortless atmosphere and we did just that.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The vision of this day was again, to let the colors of Lake Como be naturally elevated. We used greens that blent in with the color of the Cypress Trees and mountains in the background as well as blushes and peaches that added subtle pops of color which brought in warmth and intimacy to the day. The venue was covered with in bloom Wisteria that flowed so effortlessly into the vision and color palette of the day.

[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]Villa Cipressi, located in Varenna, Italy, is a stunning wedding venue that combines historical elegance with breathtaking natural beauty. Nestled on the shores of Lake Como, this 12th-century villa offers panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains, this venue was the perfect location for an intimate, elevated event such as this. The meticulously landscaped gardens, filled with vibrant wisteria and other local florals and centuries-old cypress trees, provided a romantic and serene setting. Villa Cipressi is the perfect location for an intimate celebration to provide your guest the best of Italy and Lake Como culture. [/field]

It hugged her body in all the right areas showing off her feminine figure while still giving her the volume and ball gown vibe she was wanting. The layered tulle in the skirt fit so well with the mountains behind the lake and was the perfect combination of wow factor while still being functional and comfortable. [/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Blooms Fair did an incredible job following the vision and goals of this shoot, adding to the beauty of Lake Como and bringing out parts of the venue and scenery that inspired us all. Their perfect use of florals that elevated the design created such warm and inviting touches. The use of peach in her floral design is what I felt truly elevated the looks and make them stand out.

The weather took a turn and there were high winds and rain, and so the reception was moved indoors. Sparkling Moments along side Luxury Event Producers transformed the Villa’s celebration hall bringing the elements of outdoors, indoors. The design was refined, clean yet still cozy and inviting. [/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]Wardrobe first and foremost did a perfect job standing out and having that wow factor while still fitting well into the space and the vision. Bencivenga Altasartoria completely blew it out of the park!

Regarding the design, the reception was beautifully sophisticated while still being inviting, but the ceremony was the true highlight. It embodied just the right amount of luxury. The floral installation was meticulously curated, the perfectly fitting chairs, the stunning lake view, and the surrounding cypress trees all flowed seamlessly together to create such an intimate environment. In my opinion, this harmony is what defines a sophisticated event and that was without a doubt achieved![/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]Embrace the day! Just like anywhere, Lake Como can be unpredictable with weather. Having such an open and optimistic attitude, along side a clear vision allowed the same results to be created although the logistics of the day may have turned out a little different than planned. In my opinion, this is why hiring vendors who understand you and your vision but are also experienced can make such a huge difference! Expereinced vendors can pivot and ensure you get the event you dreamed of. Portraits for this day were captured in just a few minutes to ensure the couple could experience and be present throughout the event.

Also, with the bride’s fashion and beauty, I feel her confidence alongside having key priorities is what made such a memorable look! Her simplistic makeup with the pop of color lip allowed her to be bold while still going for the effortless look she desired. [/field]

[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the Bride:
The proposal took place on November 19th, 2022, a Saturday morning after a challenging week. Earlier that week, I came down with a virus and was in rough shape. By Saturday morning, I was starting to feel better and decided to join Nick on our usual walk to Hampton Park with our dog, Cal. While I was holding Cal’s leash, we entered our favorite path. About halfway through, Nick paused and yelled out, “Maeve, wait up!” a few feet behind us. As I turned around, I saw Nick down on one knee, smiling and holding the ring. I was so overwhelmed with joy and in shock. Following that, my best friends popped out from hiding behind the bushes, and we sat in the park together, taking it all in.[/field]

5 Ways Greenery Can Step Up Your Wedding Design

If there’s one thing wedding planners, Francie and Britt of 42 North know, it’s how to deck out an event in gorgeous, fresh greens. They’re stopping by to share a few of reasons every bride should consider infusing greenery into their design plus insider advice to pull it off with ease.

Enhance Your Venue

Using greenery helps the wedding to feel like it belongs wherever it is and helps it to blend into the landscape while also feeling festive and elegant.

Neutralize a Color Palette

A lot of brides tell us at the beginning of the design process that all their friends are asking them “what are your colors?” We wholeheartedly disagree with this way of thinking! You shouldn’t limit yourself to two or three colors when planning your wedding, rather there should be an entire palette that inspires your vision. Greenery helps neutralize and bring together your other colors without any one color overpowering the aesthetic. It’s the tie between all the other decor elements happening in the room, tent, garden, and more.

Create Interest + Movement

Blooms are beautiful, of course, but greens create movement in a way that’s difficult to achieve with flowers.

Get the Effortless, Organic Vibe

Weddings are trending towards elegant and Tuscan-inspired designs with free-flowing florals, using a ton of greenery with an otherwise neutral palette which creates an al fresco vibe wherever you may be!

Complement the Scenery

For outdoor cocktail hours, consider utilizing the great outdoors – weaving your unique floral collection into the branches of live trees, or using greenery from the surroundings to bring softness to the bar setup.

Sharing the Beauty of a Martha’s Vineyard Wedding at Allen Farm

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Blue, white[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Our vision for our wedding celebration was a fun-filled weekend sharing the beauty of one of our favorite places, Martha’s Vineyard, with our closest family and friends. We wanted the weekend to feel very “us”, meaning it would be family-oriented, fun-filled, and elevated elegance, but not too stuffy. The desired vibe was timelessly coastal, hoping that our guests would feel both the history and beauty of Martha’s Vineyard.

Although we used mostly local vendors we decided to fly in Liz Banfield, who photographed our entire wedding weekend, from our private family church ceremony on Thursday through to our exit on Saturday night. We wanted the images to feel un-posed and commemorate each moment as we remembered it instead of a series of staged “photo shoots.” We could not be happier with Liz’s results – she captured every memory perfectly. And the quiet moments she captured of us alone as newly married husband and wife are some of my favorite photos from the weekend. She also beautifully documented all the details from our talented vendor team. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Pat and I originally met in 2016 when I graduated from college and we started working together. We were friendly but did not interact much for two years until I moved seats and we ended up sitting next to each other for six months. We became fast friends during that time – when I ended up leaving the company at the end of 2018 for a new job, we kept finding excuses to talk to each other for over a year before we reconnected in the summer of 2020. On a beautiful morning walk to brunch in October 2022, Pat proposed on Commonwealth Avenue – an historic avenue in the middle of Boston’s Back Bay. We celebrated first alone together before joining family at brunch and friends as the day went along. It was perfect and I could not have planned it better myself.[/field]

[section title=”The Fashion”]
[field title=”Wedding Gown”]I had so much fun putting together my looks, but it took a long time given I wanted each to match the vibe of every event. For our Thursday church ceremony, I wanted a classic and elegant white dress that would be appropriate for church, yet simple enough that it did not take away from my big “gown” moment at Allen Farm on Saturday. I ended up opting for the classic Emilia Wickstead off-the-shoulder square neckline dress and I could not have been more in love with it. I felt so beautiful and bridal in it. I decided to have my something blue moment that day too by adding in a pair of blue Amina Muaddi heels, which matched a few pops of blue in my otherwise white bouquet.

The theme of our Friday welcome reception was garden cocktail party after both the location, Atria’s beautiful lawn and tented patio, as well as my middle name “Rose”. Inspired by both the theme and the fact that I didn’t want a second all-white dress, I ended up wearing another Emilia Wickstead dress with roses scattered throughout the fabric. I loved the dress’s nod to my name, and it was so fun giggling with old friends and family who call me “Meggie Rose” over my selection. I paired the dress with classic Valentino slingbacks that somehow matched the imperfectly off-white color of the dress.

For my wedding gown, I worked with L’Elite Bridal Boutique in Boston. Going into the shopping process, I was not entirely sure what I wanted, which was very unlike me – in general, I’m a planner and usually very opinionated. I kept coming back to the idea that I wanted a dress that was a timeless, simple cut while very unique at the same time. I started the process with a few specific designers in mind, and ended up deciding between two Oscar de la Renta gowns. I was shocked to find myself leaning towards a dress with lace, which I would not have guessed beforehand, but loved how it was a soft and subtle lace with gorgeous floral appliques scattered throughout – a perfect mix of beautiful textures while not being too distracting. The gown was a statement, but not too over-the-top, which was important to me to match the venue’s casual vibe and my future husband’s laid back nature. I paired my dress with a block heel sandal from Jimmy Choo and was so thankful I did because they were the most comfortable shoe ever. I’ve worn them several times since and it’s so special to reminisce on our wedding day while wearing them.

I found my second party dress nearly a year before our wedding. I fell in love with Clio Peppiatt’s Lucina dress and knew I had to wear it – not only because it was so fun and sparkly with the Swarovski beads and pearls, but also because my family always says the common saying “I love you to the moon and back” so it had a sentimental meaning to me. I ended up pairing the dress with Gucci platform sandals as well as Jennifer Behr celestial-themed Swarovski hair pins with crystal stars, moons, and planets.
[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]After being in many weddings myself, I was against the idea of my bridesmaids all buying new dresses they may not wear again. Instead, we opted to do a mix-and-match vibe with different shades and patterns of blue and white to match our timelessly coastal blue theme. I ended up loving how it all turned out together and am excited they all were able to find dresses that made them feel beautiful and like themselves.

The guest dress code was purposefully vague: “island farm chic” with the instruction to have fun with it by wearing fun colors and patterns somewhere between formal and cocktail attire. I absolutely loved seeing how guests interpreted my crazy theme and laughing with them about it the day of.

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Pat wore a blue suit from Suit Supply and the groomsmen all wore suits from Black Tux. Pat accessorized with a pair of Gucci loafers and a watch I gave him as a wedding gift.

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Given our New England roots and the beautiful water-front setting, we wanted to really lean into the coastal vibes for our food. We had a raw bar with local oysters being shucked, mini lobster rolls; a salad with local greens, asparagus, and tomatoes; and grilled swordfish and roasted tenderloin. For dessert, we had wedding cake, assorted mini desserts, and espresso martinis to keep the party going all night long. Our signature drinks were a “Watermelon Meg-arita” and “Pat’s Old Fashioned” – in honor of two of our favorite cocktails.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]For the florals, I loved the idea of having lots of texture within soft color palettes. We kept to mostly shades of white, sprinkled with pops of blue, and the smallest dusting of soft pink in just a few spots in the reception tent.

My favorite floral moment had to be the pièce de résistance above the circle bar in our cocktail tent. We told our amazing florist Aubrey Maria Designs to create something big, bold, and blue for above the bar – and she absolutely nailed it! We will forever be in awe of the jaw dropping piece.

For the décor, we didn’t want anything over the top as we did not want to take away from the raw beauty of Allen Farm or Chilmark. We opted to stick with coastal farm vibes, with soft blue linens in the reception tent and blue and green in the cocktail tent while having a handful of statement décor pieces in each tent. For the cocktail tent, this was of course the circle bar with the gorgeous blue floral arrangement. For the reception tent, we had a massive line of beaded chandeliers down the middle of the tent – I became obsessed with these rentals from Big Sky from our first meeting and knew I wanted not just one, but the entire tent lined with them. Throughout the wedding, I kept looking up to stare at the chandeliers and would look at my husband pinching myself that it was our wedding.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]For the cake design, we opted for a simple three-tier cake with small white floral applique details and a pop of a few blue petals to tie in with the blue throughout our tent. The floral appliques were a fun nod to the similar designs on my wedding gown!

Our cake flavors were chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and coconut cake with vanilla buttercream – they were both absolutely delicious! We worked with the local baker Val Cakes and cannot recommend them enough.
[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]My eldest brother performed our ceremony at Allen Farm and blew us all away with the amazing ceremony he prepared, which was the perfect combination of sentimental and serious while also uplifting and inspiring. We had just one reading by our close friend Kevin who read the beautiful James Dillet Freeman’s “Blessing for a Marriage”. While emotions were running high, we delivered personal vows to each other that included both belly laughs as well as tears and carried the weight of our commitment to one another.

We had a string quartet from Vineyard Violin perform our ceremony music. At Allen Farm, the walk down “the aisle” is a long, dramatic trek that takes several minutes to actually get to the guests from the top of the farm. Pat walked down the aisle with his mom and brother followed by my mom and my two older brothers. The moms and sons walked down the aisle to “Over the Rainbow” which was a special song to Pat’s mom and his late father who passed away in 2021. It was a very emotional, but special moment for all six of them. My bridesmaids walked down the aisle to Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” – an obvious choice as many of the girls and I are big Swifties. Finally, music has always been a big part of my life because my dad played piano at home and encouraged all of his children to play instruments. My dad and I walked down the aisle to one of his favorite songs to play – Debussy’s “Clair de Lune”. In addition to being a sentimental nod to my dad, I love how romantic, whimsical, and timeless the song is and it felt perfect for the farm’s setting.

For our first dance, Pat and I danced to “Joy of My Life” by Chris Stapleton. Since early on in our relationship, it became our song and is really special to us so when it came down to picking our first dance song, we knew there was no other choice.

The most memorable songs of the night for us were Shout, a family favorite of the bride’s, which Liz somehow managed to perfectly capture a family photo of before Pat and I were both hoisted on friends’ shoulders and tossed in the air, as well as the closing finale song, Mr. Brightside. We always love dancing at weddings, and the dance floor at our own wedding was no exception.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]I am known to love a karaoke moment and while my husband does not, he encouraged me to surprise our guests by grabbing the mic towards the end of our reception and singing along with the band. I ended up singing Taylor Swift’s “You Belong with Me” and Pat stole the show with a tambourine accompaniment. It was so fun to perform with my new husband in front of all our guests and felt very on brand – the weekend would not have been complete without karaoke.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]On the morning of our ceremony and reception, my bridal party and I got ready at my parents’ home. It was so special waking up in my own bed and making new memories in a house that means so much to me and my family. When I visit my parents today, I still feel the warmth and love of our wedding weekend every time I walk in the house.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]We worked with Julie King Studio for all of our print items and absolutely loved the creativity of the process. We had so much fun finding ways to preview the weekend with guests in our stationery with Julie King’s hand painted designs: from Atria’s beautiful tree twinkling with lanterns, to the farm with the massive white tent, to my parents’ home for brunch, to a whimsical map of the island featuring a shark fin underneath the infamous Jaws bridge, to a four-leaf clover memorializing Pat’s father – the stationery really both set the tone for the weekend with our guests and reflected our families. We loved the lyrics of our first dance song to “Joy of My Life” so much that we tied in the line “As long as I have you, I’ll treasure each and every day” into our escort card display. We figured it would be a cute foreshadowing detail that guests might pick up during our dance and also felt like the lyrics applied both to the love shared between the two of us as well as the love and gratitude we felt towards all of our friends and family who were joining us to celebrate the weekend. We loved using the design to leave little Easter eggs throughout the weekend that observant guests could tie together.

Rattan, Wooden Accents and Lush Floral at Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Green & White with minimal pops of blue[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Luke & I (Emma) would have loved to get married somewhere in Europe but we knew if we decided to go that route a lot of our close family members wouldn’t be able to make it so we did our best to bring old world, garden party elements to us in Arkansas! We had our guests dress in Garden Party Cocktail attire, brought in lots of florals, used floral patterns, rattan baskets, wooden chairs with aged character, and getting married in a botanical garden in May also ensured there were florals in bloom all around us. As a wedding photographer myself, I really wanted my wedding to be somewhat unique and not necessarily look like every I shoot. I worked closely with Katie McIntire during the planning process and she had some great ideas on how to make our wedding truly feel like us! [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]We had been dating for about 3 years in the summer of 2023 and were set to go on a two week trip through Paris, London and Amsterdam so I just KNEW it had to be coming on that trip. Well, so I thought. I had told Luke months ago that the only thing I wanted was to be surprised so a week before this fabulous trip we were going on, he proposed on the beaches of Kiawah Island not 3 hours after we went ring shopping for the first time so I knew he didn’t have the ring yet so I was very confused & surprised. He proposed with a faux ring so I could end up picking out exactly what I wanted a month or so later. It was honestly so perfect because we got to enjoy our Europe trip as a newly engaged couple and it made it all the more romantic (plus I wasn’t worried at every turn wondering when he was going to pop the question). This also allowed me to hastily schedule our engagement photos in Paris & they are everything I could’ve hoped for!! Shout out to The Lockharts for squeezing us in last minute in Paris!! [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]I knew going into wedding dress shopping that I wanted a Kate Middleton feel to it, very classic, some lace detail, full skirt. I ended up finding the lace bolero before I even found the dress so that helped narrow down what I was looking for. I intended to wear the lace top for the entire event but once I got closer to the wedding date, I ended up wanting to take it off after dinner and added some fun sleeves for the reception which completely changed the look and a lot of people thought it was a completely different dress. [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]I let my 5 bridesmaids have free reign when it came to picking a dress, I told them to keep it in the blues and greens family and they all ended up looking great together! A few of the dresses are from Reformation & Jenny Yoo. My favorite definitely has to be my sister/Maid of Honors, we picked hers out together and it perfectly matched what I wanted the whole wedding to encompass![/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Luke also got to have free reign on what he wore to get married in & he chose a classic black tux from J. Crew paired with his Rolex Datejust, ever the classic groom. He even surprised me with a matching watch as a wedding present.[/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]We really loved the idea of a very intimate wedding so for our ceremony and dinner, we had 72 of our closest friends and family members join us. We had 2 long tables for dinner and decided to do a family style dinner since almost everyone knew each other and we were joining our two families! My father has worked in the beef industry his whole life and Luke is a big beef guy as well so we had steak for dinner, of course! Our catering team, The Sous Chef, absolutely exceeded expectations. You’ll even find “Beef, it’s whats for dinner” on our menu as a little ode to my family roots.
We had even more friends come to our reception after the formal dinner was finished and for them we had charcuterie cups and cocktails. For our late night snack, we had pretzel bites with beer cheese and they were such a hit, who doesn’t love pretzel bites!
[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]I am a huge floral lover so I knew I had to use Samantha’s Garden when it came to my wedding florals, Diana and her team are so incredibly talented and just amazing to work with. I really only gave her a rough outline of what I was hoping for which was lots of lush greens and bright white flowers, I wanted it to feel like some of the arrangements had just been freshly picked from the garden while others were more intentional arrangements and she completely outdid anything I had in mind! She created a beautiful horseshoe arrangement that Luke and I stood in the middle of, I especially loved this because it was so tall and framed us perfectly. Our table center pieces were a mix of smaller arrangements in white compotes and bundles of the same flowers in rattan vases which brought in more of the garden party element.
For decor I wanted to use lots of ornate silver trays to tie in the old world feel, so we had champagne served on these beautiful trays as well as our appetizers during cocktail hour. We decided to add some beautiful white umbrellas to the ceremony seating incase it was extra sunny and I love how it gave more height to the ceremony space.
My stationary and signage team with Dayflower Designs came up with the perfect seating chart. We found a floral background for it that came really close to matching the toile table linens and envelope liner we had and everything worked together so seamlessly. Other signage included a large mirror welcome sign and a custom bar decal.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Like the ornate details in the silver pieces, I wanted this to also be reflected in the cake! In addition to our classic almond flavored wedding cake, we also had single serving cups of cake in various flavors & the guests ended up loving these because it made eating cake and mingling much easier to do! [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]During our ceremony and cocktail hour we had Cello By Austin play with a violinist and it was just beautiful. We had them play all classical music during the ceremony and then during the cocktail hour they played more upbeat songs like you would hear in Bridgerton. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]One of my favorite details from our wedding weekend was our welcome boxes we put together for everyone staying at the hotel block. In them we included, His & Her favorite snacks, waters, a timeline of the wedding weekend, a thank you note from Luke & I, a custom match box, a coozie, a cup, advil, bandaids, mints, and custom M&M’s. They were a hit with the guests and it was so fun putting them together with Luke a few days before the wedding.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]My other favorite detail from our wedding was the Platt Parlour! I am a details girly through and through so I wanted to customize everything I could but I also wanted to prioritize being able to use anything leftover after the wedding. So instead of plastering Platt Wedding or The Platts all over everything, we decided on Platt Parlour, which if you look up the meaning of ‘parlour’ it says “a room for receiving guests” which sounds a lot like a reception to me! So the Platt Parlour was born and that was what we had on our coozies, cups, coasters, match boxes and more. I love this because we use leftover cups and coozies all the time at our house now and it doesn’t scream wedding! We also had our wedding date in roman numerals which I really loved. Full transparency, I did not coin the term Platt Parlour, @annawpage had it on her personal match boxes![/field]

An Elegant & Colorful Garden Party Wedding at Dream Point Ranch

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The wedding colors for Victoria and Zach’s wedding include a beautiful mix of soft pastels and bright, cheerful hues. The floral arrangements feature pale pink, soft yellow, and white flowers, creating a romantic and elegant atmosphere. The bride’s bouquet also includes peach and green accents, adding a touch of warmth and freshness. The overall color palette blends delicate pastels with vibrant touches, perfectly complementing the outdoor setting and enhancing the joyful and celebratory mood of the occasion.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The overall design of Victoria and Zach’s wedding is a stunning blend of elegance and charm, with a focus on delicate pastels and natural beauty. The floral arrangements are a highlight, featuring a mix of soft pinks, yellows, whites, and peach hues, creating a romantic and fresh atmosphere. The ceremony arch is beautifully adorned with abundant flowers, perfectly framing the scenic outdoor backdrop.

The reception area maintains this airy and elegant theme with white tablecloths, white Chiavari chairs, and greenery hanging from the ceiling, adding a touch of natural sophistication. The tables are set with light blue napkins and vibrant blue glassware, which adds a subtle pop of color against the predominantly white decor. The overall ambiance is both inviting and enchanting, making for a truly memorable celebration.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

From Victoria: “Zach and I love to spend our time outside in whatever ways we can. Most of the time that includes hiking anywhere local, especially at Turkey Mountain. The day started as any other day, heading to Turkey Mountain to go on one of our hikes. Although, Zach had something a little bit more special planned for this hike and he did an amazing job at hiding it and making sure that it totally took me by surprise. At the end of our hike he proposed to me and surprised me with all of our family there to celebrate with after he got down on one knee. It is such a special memory to look back on every time we end up at Turkey Mountain on another hike. It feels even more special as our wedding ceremony took place on a mountain with a view, and our honeymoon was through multiple different mountainous National Parks. Very full circle story!”

Zach was also my first serious relationship and we said I love you to each other less than two weeks in. When you know you know!!”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]From Victoria: “We knew we wanted the wedding to be super playful and we accomplished that with pushing boundaries with the colors for our wedding. We had a very unique bridal party attire, with them wearing different styles of dresses as well as different colors and lengths. We also had the most amazing florist who really outdid herself with all the flowers for the entire day but especially with our arch we had at the alter during our ceremony which also followed us inside to be placed behind us during the reception. Lastly, it was so fun to play around at the rentals showroom with different colored linens, napkins, and glasses. The Blueprint for a Perfect Summer Garden Party at Naylor Hall

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]yellow, vibrant greens, white, and pops of pink[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The overall vision was a garden party with a nod to Italy – where the couple got engaged! The color pallet was directly inspired by summer and took advantage of the lush colors that surrounded Naylor Hall. The bride knew the venues grand front porch was the perfect altar and utilizing the outside was her top priority. The design started to shine from the beginning as guests received their custom invitations with a watercolored image of the bride and groom walking through a field of flowers foreshadowing the event to come. The bride and her mom hand selected every potted plant that lined the ceremony aisle and steps all the way to the back of the reception tent – transforming the venue into a secret garden. [/field]

Classic Romance With a Garden-Inspired Twist at Andaz Maui at Wailea

Floral arrangements played a central role throughout the wedding celebration. Along the aisle, continuous arrangements of greenery and delicate white florals created a lush feel. During cocktail hour, petite arrangements in the wedding’s color palette adorned the cocktail tables, adding a touch of floral elegance. For the dining tables, low and elongated centerpieces continued the garden theme, featuring white full-petal florals and delicate foliage. Pillar candles and votives were set among the arrangements, casting a romantic glow over the reception. Above the dining tables, organic installations of lush greenery and trailing vines created a canopy-like effect, with hanging crystal chandeliers adding a touch of sparkle to the intimate and natural ambiance of the space.[/field]

One of the most memorable parts of this destination wedding was the time spent together with close friends and family in the days leading up to the ceremony. [field title=”Special Detail #2″]Wanting to break away from day-of traditions, the bride and groom opted for a sunset ceremony, spending the earlier part of the day lounging by the beach together with their closest family and friends. Playful Textures and Subtle Nods to NYC in South Carolina’s Lowcountry

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Light blue, light green, pastel yellow, white, and champagne were selected as the primary colors of Maddie & Peter’s Kiawah wedding weekend color palette.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Maddie and Peter’s wedding weekend artfully balanced the whimsical, coastal feel of their destination locale in Charleston, South Carolina with modern elements and fashion choices that called back to their hometown of New York City. The bride, working with the design team at Alexandra Madison Weddings, created a wedding weekend design filled to the brim with coastal, Lowcountry nods, playful textures and patterns, and organic florals throughout. The weekend began with a chic waterfront welcome party at Kiawah River’s Spring House, complete with fresh out-of-the-oven woodfired pizza from Coastal Crust and marshland views from the poolside al fresco table. Kiawah River’s Farm House was selected as the primary backdrop for the wedding day’s festivities, known for its iconic live oak trees and riverfront surroundings. Guests celebrated the couple’s nuptials at a lawn front ceremony under the oaks, with the couple surrounded by a half-moon of floral compotes at their feet. The cocktail hour and reception design featured patterned linens by local linen company Stradley Davidson, rattan accents and chargers, and colorful floral compotes and bud vases down two long king tables situated under the oak trees. The couple, wanting guests to enjoy the most out of their natural surroundings, hosted a candlelit al fresco dinner as the sun set over the riverfront. After dinner, guests were ushered under the sailcloth tent to the dance floor and chic lounge area to dance the night away surrounded by coastal design touches.[/field]

After moving to the Big Apple several years ago for work, it was a fitting and personal backdrop for their engagement. One spring evening at sunset, as Maddie & Peter walked along the waterfront overlooking Manhattan Island, Peter got down on one knee and popped the question! With an epic city skyline in the background, Maddie said ‘yes!’! [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Maddie’s keen eye for fashion-forward, unique attire played a role in each event throughout their Charleston wedding weekend. For their Welcome Party on the eve of their wedding day, Maddie opted for a strapless drop-waist white dress with a pleated skirt from designer Acler, paired with beautifully patterned blue and floral motif pumps from Manolo Blahnik. A chiffon pleated white shoulder bag completed the modern, chic bridal look for the night before.

The bride, desiring to balance her modern fashion tastes with the romantic surroundings of their Lowcountry wedding locale, decided upon a stunning wedding gown by London bridal designer Suzanne Neville. The dress, which was an A-line, fitted silhouette with a long train, featured a modern square-cut neckline, shoulder straps, and 3D floral applique throughout. Maddie paired her wedding gown with a cathedral-length veil complete with a blusher. White patent leather pumps from Stuart Weitzman completed her bridal look. As day turned to night, the bride opted for a playful, fashionable outfit change. Maddie chose a strapless mini dress from designer Milly that featured silver and white floral beading throughout the dress. Satin platform heels from designer Loeffler Randall were the perfect dancing shoes to spend the evening tearing up the dance floor with friends and family.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]To accentuate the couple’s wedding color palette of coastal blues, greens, and whites, the bridesmaids’ dresses were selected to be mismatched hues of blue and teal silk in floor length silhouettes. Each bridesmaid opted for a dress from a different designer, ranging from Reformation, Faithfull the Brand, and Significant Other.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]In keeping with the theme of their Lowcountry wedding weekend, the couple worked with local Charleston caterer Rosemary and Rye to develop a menu that was a feast for the senses! During cocktail hour, guests were treated to passed hors d’oeuvres of watermelon & cheese bites, chicken and waffles, and bacon-wrapped dates. The couple opted to feature a signature cocktail that they adored to make at home – a classic lime margarita to beat the Lowcountry heat!

As guests made their way to the reception tables, they picked out their escort card from a Topo Chico escort card display shelf to open and enjoy before dinner was served! As the couple entered their reception, they ‘soft opened’ the evening with a mini champagne tower, too!

As the sun began to set on the horizon, guests could select from several entrees, including pecan-encrusted chicken, braised beef short ribs, and a vegetable paella.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]At the very start of the design process, the bride, working with her planning and design team at Alexandra Madison Weddings, wanted to concoct a wedding weekend design that featured lots of patterns, textures, and colors that complimented the gorgeous natural backdrop. A custom invitation suite was designed and printed through the planning team, and featured a blue and green hand-painted watercolor border made by the mother of the bride to welcome guests. Patterned blue and white linens on accent and welcome tables from local designer Stradley Davidson perfectly balanced the neutral ivory textured linen that was selected for the long dining tables. Light green napkins wove a hint of sage into the tablescape, and sat atop a blue-and-white floral printed plate and woven rattan charger. Rattan was also featured in the various picture frames, candle holders, and lounge furniture throughout the reception’s design.

Working with local Charleston floral designer, Festoon, a concoction of whimsical, organic florals were created for the wedding day. The bridal bouquet was kept modern and clean, featuring an all-white assortment of white and ivory peonies. The bridesmaids’ bouquets matched the bride’s in a similar format, featuring a delicate, smaller bouquet of white peonies. The couple’s outdoor wedding ceremony featured a crescent of tall compotes of green and white that framed them and their officiant on the ground. For their reception, the long dining tables were covered in various sizes of compotes and bud vases of colorful, whimsical blooms. In keeping with their color palette of greens, whites, and blues, the floral design featured white hydrangeas, peonies, white fringed tulips, and an assortment of baby blue buds throughout. Hints of yellow were found in butter yellow ranunculus, white and yellow corn poppies, and white and gold daisies. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Maddie & Peter opted for a striking yet simple wedding cake from local baker and cake artist, Sweet Rhi. A strawberry and vanilla flavored three-tier cake was covered in white buttercream frosting, and finished with edible metallic dust and tiny pearl sprinkles. [/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The couple welcomed their guests to Kiawah River with a waterfront, poolside Welcome Party the night before! Hints of the couple’s wedding day design were featured in their welcome party’s tablescape and design, complete with rattan accents, patterned linens, and their overall color scheme and coastal aesthetic. A single, long table was set up at Kiawah River’s Spring House pool deck, complete with cafe umbrellas, patterned green and blue linens from BBJ La Tavola, and flower arrangements from local farm Rosebank Farms. Guests were treated to poolside cocktails, fresh woodfired pizza from Coastal Crust’s mobile vintage fire truck pizza oven, and an Italian spread of salads, fresh breads, and pesto. While guests finished their meal, speeches were held by the couple’s siblings and wedding party members. As the sun began to set on the horizon, the couple was stolen away for golden hour portraits along the waterfront and dock. [/field]

Black and White Destination Wedding at Bastide du Roy in Cannes

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”][/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

There were several design inspirations for this wedding. The common thread remains the use of Black and White which we find throughout the wedding and in particular on the table set-up but also on some of the invitations. As for the ceremony, we are mainly using white for the pure and luminous side and a profusion of flowers for a magical effect! As for the invitations, we also have a much more romantic set which stands out from the rest.

Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love). Unknown to both of us, a random person actually filmed our proposal and uploaded it to
Tiktok (and it went pretty viral with over 2 million views!).[/field]

Wine Country Wedding Proves Something Blue Is Always the Answer

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Our main color theory for this wedding was rooted in soft creamy whites, sages and taupe. About a month before the wedding, the bride decided she really wanted subtle touches of blue in the floral. The soft blue felt like spring and added a playful touch to our design. Sometimes color theories are decided at the onset of planning, but in Katie’s case, her color scheme evolved through the process.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The couple’s main priority in the wedding design was to embrace the venue’s wine country setting. This was a destination wedding for their guests, so showcasing their favorite things from the Napa Valley was a key component to the weekend’s overall feel. From a custom watercolor vineyard landscape in the invitation suite, to olive branch details and even cork backings on the stationery; the wedding design had not-so-subtle nods to wine country at every turn. Park Avenue answered the call and created a seasonal but hearty menu for the couple to make sure all the guests left satisfied. For appetizers, guests noshed on summer corn arancini with basil oil, prosciutto and goat cheese mini pizzettes with arugula and fig-balsamic reduction, and wine country BBQ pork with papaya-jicama slaw.

Dinner started with wines from B.R. Cohn and a first course of local burrata and heirloom tomato salad. Guests noshed on filet with summer corn succotash and house made gnocchi with chanterelle mushrooms and seasonal summer squash.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Decor:
The couple’s style was clean and timeless. The planning team kept things neutral in the reception space with floor length ivory linens from BBJ. Interest was added by layering lots of textures. The dinner chairs were off white but had amazing cane backing with interesting turned legs and linen tufted seats. The flatware featured olive wood handles, lovingly selected to continue our olive theme. Organic rim stoneware china felt un-fussy yet elevated. Modern edge glassware made the whole look feel current. A satin green napkin was a perfect natural pop and allowed the flowers to steal the show.

Florals:
Jenn Robirds partnered with Macy of the Posh Posey to create the floral theory for the wedding. Katie’s dress was feminine with embroidered flowery details. The goal for the wedding day floral design was a romantic and soft extension of the bride’s attire. Fluffy flowers with local foliage were the perfect pair. The dinner table flowers showcased a long floral runner drawing your eye through the space. The ceremony arch framed the couple as they said their vows- a perfect frame for the rolling vineyards. The pops of blue flowers turned out to be the perfect addition as the morning of the wedding the bride was gifted a spectacular aquamarine diamond necklace and earring set from her family. Proof that something blue is always a good idea![/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was anything but your standard white cake- an unexpected sage top tier with the couple’s monogram and olive leaves tied the color theory together yet again. Dried lemon slices and fresh olive branches gave guests a hint at what was inside: a decadent olive-oil Meyer lemon cake by the talented Flour and Bloom Bakery.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The reception patio space was made playful with custom ordered Edison bulbs over 24’ long tables. Dripping smilax greens in the ceiling brought nature inside. After sunset the flicker of candles and the warm glow of the Edison bulbs set the stage for an intimate dining experience. [/field]
