From the Bride... Doug and I met in 2008 on a trip to Israel. Both graphic designers in New York, it quickly became apparent we shared many of the same passions and interests. Our conversations lead to instant friendship, and there, our love story began. Back in NYC, Doug took me on our first date to a neighborhood Mexican restaurant with an adorable garden out back. Little did I know, just over two years later we'd return to that same garden, and he would propose. Doug arranged the sweetest proposal surrounded by candles and flowers while our favorite songs played in the background. We celebrated with family and friends that evening and spent the next year planning our unforgettable wedding.

We were married on October 29, 2011. Many would remember that day as the record-breaking snow storm that swept across the Northeast, knocking down trees and power lines, closing roads, and blanketing the area with heavy white snow. For us, it set the backdrop for our romantic and charming October wedding. Though we never expected to get married in a snow storm, it was the finishing touch we couldn't have paid for if we tried!

Our inspiration for the wedding came from many places and ultimately was a reflection of our love: classic and timeless. From the vintage stamps on our invitations to the guest book tree our friends and family helped create, the wedding was full of personal details and mementos. We chose our venue, De Seversky Mansion, for its historic charm and breathtaking setting. The first time we visited, we were instantly lost in time and captivated. We walked down the aisle to one of our favorite songs, Ingrid Michaelson's rendition of "Can't Help Falling In Love." My six bridesmaids wore charcoal Amsale gowns with floral details, each carrying a simple bouquet of lush lavender and ivory ribbon. I walked aside my parents with a beautiful bouquet of fresh lavender and white anemones (my favorite flower). Our florist, Anne Kilcullen of Blade Floral, helped us to create our whimsical vision for the chuppah — a simple branch frame and beautiful curtains surrounded by white flowers. My dress was an extension of my vision: a romantic, lace gown by Anna Maier Ulla-Maija. I wore a beautiful veil passed down from my cousin; dainty diamond flower earrings from my grandma and delicate, crystal Ralph Lauren Collection shoes.

The wedding continued throughout the mansion, illuminated by twinkling candlelight and smiles all around. Garden-fresh flowers in white and ivory with greenery were complemented with hints of lavender, which is thought to bring good luck. I loved the symbolism of that, and we made sure to incorporate elements of our flowers throughout the wedding. The first time we walked into the dining room, tears came to my eyes at the site of our vision brought to life. It was breathtaking! One thing that was very important to Doug and me was that the wedding feel intimate and warm despite its size, and the mansion allowed just that. We took it up a notch for the reception with neon and black mustache glasses, which were quite the accessory. We danced our first dance to Adele's "One and Only," surrounded by more warmth and love than I could have imagined. With a backdrop of falling snow and charming music filling the mansion, our fairytale came to life. Looking back, we feel so blessed!
