From Denise Fasanello Floral Design... Every once in a while New York City turns on all it's charm and gives you a perfect-in-every-way kind of day. Such was the day of April 21, 2012, when Georgia Healey and Kevin Zimot wed. The sky was clear, the sun was shining, and the tulips were still blooming along Park Avenue. When I first met Georgia and Kevin, they expressed a desire to create a classic New York wedding. The flowers were to be pretty and soft with lots of texture. We used the best that spring has to offer, which included tulips, peonies, lilacs, hellebores and spirea. It was a dream job working at such an incredible venue as the University Club and certainly with two of the loveliest people I've met. Congrats to Georgia and Kevin!

From the Bride... Kevin and I met serendipitously on a snowy night at a bar in Chicago while we were both living and working there. Five years later, including two years of long-distance and a few months of living in New York together, Kevin proposed. As a native New Yorker, I was very excited to plan the wedding in my home city. We wanted our wedding to have a classic, formal, New York aesthetic with romantic touches — and above all, we wanted the wedding to be fun! We chose to have our ceremony at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, the Roman Catholic church where I had done all of my religious education as a child. In addition to having personal significance, it is a breathtaking space. The church is very ornate, and our wedding was only two weeks after Easter, so we chose not to decorate the church but still had the benefit of enjoying the remaining Easter flowers on the altar.

We held our reception at the University Club, a landmark building on Fifth Avenue that was built at the turn of the 20th century. While incredibly grand and ornate, the club has a warm, welcoming ambiance. I designed all of the stationery myself, choosing a color palette of grape, ivory and gold with a combination of classic serif and romantic script fonts accented by decorative etchings. Personal and decorative flower arrangements created by Denise Fasanello Floral Design had a natural, romantic beauty with touches of movement.  I wanted each arrangement to have individual character and look as if someone had just picked it from a garden. In addition to amazing venues, we prioritized a great band. The Charles St. Paul Band hand everyone on their feet from the moment they started playing before dinner. It was the best day of my life, and I feel very blessed to have such wonderful memories captured by the gorgeous photography of Elisabeth Millay and impressive cinematography of Tweed Weddings. Thank you!
