Modern Elegance at The Farmhouse at Old Edwards Inn
From falling in love in bustling NYC to wedded bliss in the mountains of North Carolina, this stunning Bride & Groom are making me blush. They have a love I cannot describe in words and it's drawing me in deeper and deeper with every single image from Carrie Tabb. With splashes of elegance, including those lush florals from Gertie Mae's, the whole thing makes for one seriously beautiful gallery!
From the beautiful Bride… David and I went to NYU Law together. One night, at a party, he walked right up to me and introduced himself. I was a little caught off-guard by his confidence, but I was also into it. Apparently David had seen me around and was waiting for the opportunity to ask me out. That night we both knew that we had met someone special. At first, I was drawn to David because he’s dynamic and funny and smart, but as I got to know him, I came to love him for his integrity and his faith. David and I are both pretty traditional when it comes to dating, and David really pulled out all the stops to impress me throughout our courtship. We had such a great time exploring New York City and falling in love.
In December 2012, David took me back to New York for a long weekend and surprised me with a beautiful proposal on a Brooklyn rooftop, with the backdrop of the New York City skyline behind us. I had gone to the rooftop thinking we’d be having a drink with his cousin, but when I got there, there were flowers, candles, and a photographer, and then David was on one knee with a ring in his hand. As we started planning the wedding, I wanted elegance and David wanted a scenic destination.
David suggested the idea of getting married in the mountains, and I loved it. As soon as we arrived in Highlands, North Carolina to visit The Farm at Old Edwards Inn, we knew that was the place. Old Edwards Inn had all the elegance and romance that I was looking for, and Highlands is just the most beautiful and scenic mountain town. I don’t typically wear much color in the winter so I wanted our wedding to reflect that. We filled the room with white flowers, silver sequins, and candle light. A couple of my favorite little details were our mini-lantern escort cards, our black and white cookie favors (complete with photos of the couple), and the dessert table.
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect. It had been raining in Highlands for a week straight, but the morning of our wedding, the sun came out. David broke tradition and snuck by my room the morning of the wedding to see me and tell me he loved me. I know they say it’s bad luck, but everything turned out perfectly anyway! I don't have a favorite moment from the day because everything was wonderful. Seeing my husband tear up as I walked down the aisle made my heart melt. I actually gasped when I walked into The Farm that night - the lighting, flowers, and sequins sparkled like a starry sky. My sisters and the best man gave amazing speeches that had us all in stitches. The food was the best meal I’ve ever had. And at the end of the night, David surprised me with our honeymoon destination, South Africa! It really was a perfect wedding and perfect honeymoon with the perfect husband. I am so incredibly blessed, and while my wedding day was such a fairy tale, spending the rest of my life with David Bouchard totally takes the cake.
