From Felici Events… Kimberly and Andrew were a dream couple to work with. They complimented each other so well. As a Santa Barbara native, Kimberly wanted the freshness of the coast to be an integral part of the wedding. Also, since they met in Colorado Andrew had a deep appreciation for the mountains. It was no surprise that the picturesque Birnam Wood Golf Club in Santa Barbara, CA, became the ideal pick for the love birds' nuptials, as it embodied both of their fondness for the ocean and the mountains.
The groom, resonated strength and balance, therefore, the grand eucalyptus trees that surrounded the 10th fairway were an apropos backdrop for their ceremony in the round. The floral, decor, and subtle and playful linens, on the other hand, evoked softness, sweetness, and flawlessness, exactly like the bride.
The entire decor element was beautifully articulated by Kimberly when she said she wanted it to have the "glow of love." In this quest, we used neutral hues of beige and blush for the base colors in order to create a gradual crescendo of tones that finally blossomed in the warmth of the flowers. We loved the mirrored columns in the ceremony because we felt like they "reflected" the couple and their love, enveloping everyone in the meaning of the day. Kimberly and Andrew were truly a well-matched duo, and they knew it right when they met. Here is their love story...
From the beautiful Bride… Although I wanted to stay in California for school, I reluctantly decided to consider the University of Colorado… And, boy am I glad I did! After arriving in the breathtaking town just below a range of stunning mountains in Boulder, I knew within a matter of hours that this was where I wanted to be. I guess my intuition was guiding me in the right direction because one college night, just like any other, I went to a friend's house for a small gathering. I spotted Andrew and I walked over to him.
He tells it best: “It wasn’t until my super-senior year when I was at a friend’s festivities that cute blonde approached me. She said, ‘Are you Andrew Cunningham's little brother?’ I immediately laughed out loud seeing as he was a friend of mine and I was older than he was, but played along anyway. After Kimmie broke the ice, at one point I looked down at my watch and realized it was somehow several hours later and we had yet to leave each other's side. I knew I liked her a lot because we had a unique connection. However, she was taken at the time. We became close friends over the next few weeks and then the time came when she was back on the market, and there was my chance. I didn't know how she felt about me until a ‘slightly tipsy’ walk home from the bars one night when she confessed she had a crush on me. Five years later, I asked her to marry me and we now live together in beautiful San Diego, CA with our dog Ziggy, and cat, Minet.”
The day Andrew asked me to marry him was one of the best days of both of our lives. We were on a trip to Hawaii in January 2012 when we hiked four miles to an incredible waterfall in the middle of the jungle. He carried the ring all the way there — got down on one knee! — and proposed… I will never forget the overwhelming sense of joy and love I felt in that moment. It carried all the way through into our wedding day, which was filled with even more magic from having our friends and family surround and support us. These days we love walks with our dog, Ziggy, being at the beach, and traveling together.
