Wedding Cake Inspiration from Cakes by Krishanthi
High atop our list of wedding must-haves, sits a gorgeous cake. And truth be told, we're spoiled with all of the amazingly talented cake designers that we're happy to call a part of LBB family, including the lovely team at Cakes by Krishanthi who whip up some of the prettiest designs around. Today we're getting a peek at three inspiring styles and intricacy beyond our wildest wedding cake dreams!
Classic. The classic look is inspired by what I like to call traditional romantic ‘pretty’ weddings. When designing these cakes I had visions of a bride dressed in swathes of vintage lace and tulle. The vintage influence has been so prevalent within weddings over the past couples of years and this trend looks set to continue, albeit with an injection of glamour! I was keen to steer away from pink in these designs and instead decided on a soft colour palette of white, peach and powder blue – incorporating this works well to create a soft and whimsical feel whilst subtle shades of nude add a contemporary edge. This look would suit a romantic fairytale style wedding. Perfect for a beautiful country house or mansion setting.
Opulent. The opulent look is ideal for those who are getting married in a grand venue, the kind that is swathed with gold intricate detailing. The subtle mint hues stand out against a deep mocha backdrop, whilst accents of gold adds a sense of drama and indulgence. The original style icon when it comes to opulence has to be Marie Antoinette, who perfectly conjures up Bourgeoisie decadence and played an integral role inspiring these designs. This look incorporates a number of cakes from miniature cupcakes to a six tier show-stopper. I was keen to demonstrate that smaller cakes can still look opulent through the use of intricate detailing and colour choice. However, if you are really looking to wow your guests I would suggest a dessert table incorporating a number of designs, in varying heights, as shown here.
Modern. Not everyone is looking to create a romantic fairytale style or grand opulent look for their wedding. I set about creating a collection of cakes aimed at the edgier bride with a keen sense of style – the more fashion conscious bride who is looking to design a contemporary affair. I absolutely adore Vera Wangs dresses, which are so modern and extravagant. Vera Wangs designs played a strong role influencing this look, the use of ruffles are a clear nod to her style. Sticking to a colour of palette of grey, soft mauve and metallic this look would suit a super stylish city wedding, whilst still maintaining an element of romance and a touch of sparkle! Also perfect for a winter or New Years celebration.
