Whimsical Maryland Wedding at Woodend Sanctuary

If the boutonniere bar is any indication of just how fun and whimsical this wedding is then we are in for quite the treat. From the gobs of cool stationery by Little Bit Heart  right through to the endless parade of pretty details by Karson Butler Events or Holly Heider Chapple's happy florals, this is whimsy done in such an elegant way. But we'll let Jodi Miller's images speak for themselves. See them all right here.

From the Bride… Aaron and I met in Chinatown in Washington, DC. I went with a group of friends to see Mamma Mia and my friends insisted to go dancing afterward. Aaron was out with a friend who was PCSing to another military post. He spotted me not dancing and struck up a conversation. Our first date was dinner and a movie in Chinatown, but we took too long talking over dinner and missed the movie! We eventually saw it on our second date :)

Aaron proposed over the phone! He was stationed in San Antonio and I was in Washington (our third year of being apart). He got down on one knee when he was in town the next month (after we chose a ring together).

We designed a wedding with Karson Butler Events that was casual, creative and a fun party for all of our friends and family to enjoy. I love crafting, stationery, lettering, calligraphy and all of those lovely things!

From Karson Butler Events... Danielle also wanted a touch of DIY which we loved! She had participated in a calligraphy class and hand lettered all the playful save the dates herself. When it came time to select her wedding calligrapher, we knew her instructor Michele at Meant To Be Calligraphy was the perfect choice for her invites and day-of paper goods! (Talk about full circle! Of course, Michele was honored!

Some of our favorite design elements from their wedding included:

*A Boutonniere Bar escort card display for all the guests - Guests loved wearing their special boutonnieres and the tags let guests know what table they were seated at! We loved dreaming this idea up and all our creative partners were such troopers in helping us bring this to life!

*Gorgeous blooms - Holly Heider Chapple's flowers speak for themselves - drop dead gorgeous!! And when a rain storm brought the ceremony inside at the last minute (despite forecasts showing 0% chance), Holly's team were all-stars at repurposing the flowers to decorate the mantle before guests arrived! Proof that even a plan B can be gorgeous!

*Creative paper goods - Our bride LOVED paper & calligraphy, so we partnered with Little Bit Heart on a custom invitation suite that mixed Danielle's favorite design elements. The save-the-dates even had a scratch off to show where the wedding location would be - so fun! The welcome baskets perfectly complimented the colorful paper goods too.
