Fall Saltwater Farm Vineyard Wedding
I adore fall in New England. And fall weddings in New England? Well they just so happen to be some of my favorites. This beautiful Saltwater Farm Vineyard wedding captured by Runaway Bride Nantucket explains all the reasons why. It's a wedding where gorgeous color palettes collide and love abounds, and there is so much more waiting for you here.
From Runaway Bride Nantucket...Melissa and Jeff were married at the gorgeous Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Stonington, CT on November 8th, 2013. As the photographer, I was a little nervous pulling up to the location the day before the wedding in the pouring (READ: torrential) rain - but Melissa and Jeff must have had luck on their side when on their wedding day the sun came out in a clear blue sky and the fall colors of the vineyard farm were just jaw-droppingly stunning. Melissa obviously knew what she was doing in constructing the look of their wedding - from the purples to the oranges to the grays, the overall wedding look and scheme was very warm and elegant and stunning - just like a gorgeous fall day.
She and Jeff exchanged a "first look" in the rows of the vineyard and then we explored the property for some photo ops - one spot in particular that was especially stunning was an old dirt road behind the venue that had a sort of canopy of fall leaves. I'll never forget the shots we took there - Melissa's gorgeous gown flowing in the wind as the fall leaves came down - it was a sight to see! The ceremony was held at sunset outside, and then the party continued inside with some delicious food and drink. As a photographer, you can really feel how every wedding is different, and at this wedding there was a truly overwhelming sense of happiness, fun, and love.
From the Bride...Jeff and I were first introduced through a mutual friend in early 2010, but didn't hit it off until we saw each other at a local bar the one weekend he wasn't snowboarding in Vermont that winter. As our love grew, so did our shared interests in the outdoors and our love for New England, which is why when we saw Saltwater Farm Vineyard, we knew we had to get married there. From the sheer beauty of the grounds to the rustic-yet-chic interior, Saltwater shines even without the addition of flowers and other wedding decor. We knew we wanted to capture the essence of fall on our wedding day, which is why we went with vibrant purples and oranges, as well as grays and greens for our color scheme. I'll never forget how beautiful my bridesmaids looked with their orange shawls popping off of their purple dresses. We also wanted our day to be as fun and light-hearted as possible, right down to the paper goods. Everything (invites, programs, escort cards, etc.) was designed by my good friend, coworker and creative director Kate Keparutis - she captured the exact fun tone we wanted to convey.
We also knew we wanted to weave snowboarding into our wedding too (especially since Jeff inspired me to learn and love the sport!) so instead of a guest book, we opted for a guest board. Jeff dug up one of his old boards, bought some paint markers and copied the leaf pattern and font from our paper goods onto the board. We also used mountain names and places we'd gone to together as table names. We opted for simple centerpieces with my favorite flower and white pumpkins, and Yumiko and her team at Hana Floral Design put together flowers that were beyond what we could have imagined. It was a little difficult for me to find the right dress, but I finally landed on a Nicole Miller from Everthine Bridal Boutique - I felt beautiful and comfortable, and believe the dress worked perfectly with the effortless elegance of Saltwater. Despite some pretty chilly wind and temperatures, we truly had the best day ever there. From our amazing family and friends, to the wonderful staff and top-notch vendors, it was an extremely happy blur we will never forget. We can't wait to go back and celebrate our one year anniversary there.
