San Francisco Wedding from Gertrude & Mabel and Stacy McCain Event Planning
When I saw the all star line up of vendors credited on this wedding I may or may not have jammed my finger trying to get the images open on my desktop as quickly as possible. You see, when Gertrude & Mabel Photography are behind their well seasoned lenses and Stacy McCain Event Planning is at the helm, the soiree (complete with paper products from Olive-Route and amazing ambiance from Got Light) is going to be ridiculous pretty. From the beautiful bride... When Blake asked me to marry him, mine was a feeling I can only describe as "simply right". This feeling is what really inspired the design sensibility of our wedding day. Blake and I have long agreed on the aesthetic of Japanese culture, its art and papers as simply right-- its understated, but elegant. Organic but refined. It suggests rather than shouts. I hoped these same attributes would apply to our life and I went about crafting something that spoke to that. We also share a love of whimsy and natures wildness, especially in things culinary and wanted the menu and setting to reflect that too.
We choose our vendors in the same intention. We aspired to work with local artists who crafted their work from a personalized and bay area ethic of local and homespun. We hoped to participate in the creative process closely. I'm very attached to the farmers market culture locally and we sought to bring that seasonality to our food selections as well. Our goodie bags paired local pickles with hand pressed herbal teas and local roasted nuts. In opting for Cavallo as our venue, the old California feel of my husband's local Marin county, it is own organic elegance, felt the perfect venue. Our paper work was all done at the hand of Olivia De Mateo of Olive Route designs. We worked very closely in crafting all of the dimensions of our paper goods to reflect the handcraft of japanese papers and the perfection of native habitats and the spring color schemes of our California landscape.
On the actual day, the forecast called for torrential rains. We braced ourselves for our loved ones to make the outdoor transitions. Instead, as we readied for the ceremony, the sky opened to sunlight and a rainbow. The small touches like origami cranes, oyster bars and my moms homemade cake table felt the thread of the day. We had a chance to tell our loved ones we adored them and each other. And the sun shined.. it was perfect.
