From Nicole of The Green Ribbon Party Planning Co... Coming from the east coast I have a great love of the preppy aesthetic and I wanted to recreate my version of that look. The Craven Estate was a rare find in LA because it has all of the history and charm of an east coast mansion. Since it was used as a Pasadena Showcase house in 2010, many of the rooms are quite modern, but it is still a traditional space. I wanted the room to look elegant, but not stuffy.
The starting point of the design was centered around blue and white seersucker. We wanted the table to look sophisticated, but also have a touch of whimsy. Danielle from Brown Paper Design used topiaries in mint julep cups on either side of a more traditional arrangement. Posh Paperie did some great menus and seating cards incorporating navy and green stripes to finish off that preppy look. Melody from Sweet & Saucy made a fantastic cake, which echoed the stripes of the seersucker, yet had a modern shape. The sugar flower in pink was a beautiful touch to complement the blue and white color palette. We styled an easy dessert bar with tasty treats like donuts and chocolate chip cookies to be washed down with some different flavors of milk. We used some amazing silver pieces from my favorite antique shop and the vintage trophy was the greatest find and a unique container to hold the cookies. This shoot is full of fun details captured by Allison from Studio 28 Photography. It was great to work with such a talented team of ladies.
